  1. With guys like Webster, Shields, Petteway and Biggs who can get into the lane and kick it out to Gallegos, he'll serve a pretty big role on this team. That should help his percentage, too. He's a very good free throw shooter and is a superior defender. Possibly the best defender on the team. It's possible he finds himself coming off the bench eventually, though his spot won't be going to Rivers, but he'll be getting starters minutes, without question.
  2. Gallegos earned time last season. He's better than Rivers unless he's gone backwards from last year, which I doubt.
  3. I'm in the row 2 of the 200 level. Rail is a minor disturbance, but not a huge issue, at least it wasn't for me.
  4. Just because Parker appears to have improved doesn't mean he won't transfer. It still looks like he will be a backup to Webster and Biggs. Who cares? We can cross that bridge if it comes. He can play a role this year regardless of what happens at the end of the season.
  5. Any superlatives dropped about Tai should not be shaped in the future tense. Use present tense.
  6. WOOO! That was awesome! - Foul trouble kept him from having a huge night, but we saw what a difference maker Webster can be. Kid's gonna light it up. - Shavon was, again, the best player on the floor tonight. He looks a touch quicker this year than last. Am I the only one that saw that? - For those that question whether Parker can have a role on this team, he can. He showed it tonight. He won't play starters minutes, but he'll provide a spark, and steady hand when he's in there. - Petteway had a few moves tonight that were pretty filthy. Kid looks like the real deal. - Pitchford can shoot it. Not afraid there, thought he did ok down low defensively, but that wasn't nearly the stiff test he'll see later down the line. Offensive weapon for sure, though. - Rivers. Like that kid. Wish he'd have redshirted his freshman year... Seems to have taken another step forward. - Smith looked like we're used to seeing kids coming up from JUCO. Swimming a bit. He'll get there. Looked good a couple of times and has the frame to hang with it on the block. - Didn't see Fuller. What was up with that? Redshirt possibility? - All the pregame stuff was pretty cool. I thought Tommy Lee was going to be a part of the drum line. Guess not. The DJ thing was a little hokey, but whatevs... - Loved the whole band coming out and doing their thing. - Didn't mind the Bon Jovi video, but I'm guessing that is going to be unpopular. All in all, can't ask for much more than we got. It did, in fact, get pretty loud in there. Thought the fans were pretty good. Great at times. That place can be pretty special if the fans do their role. The more games we have like that, the better. This post has been promoted to an article

  8. That's kinda his schtick. He's done if for years at state.
  9. Not really.
  10. no. Davies definitely had the cable hooked up. There's no doubt about that.
  11. There will never be another Husker board for me. This is it. I'm totally with you on the football side of things. I was a part of one for a while, wasn't a good experience.
  12. You picked a great vendor, btw. Those guys are friends of mine.
  13. My only complaint is that I thought I was on the other side of my section than I really am. I would have been about three seats away from Norm (and across the aisle...), but, alas, I'm not and now I'm on the other side of the section and 20 seats further away... I even brought extra tissues for the nosebleed. Oh well... I haven't quite figured out how I'll be doing parking yet, I have a couple of ideas, but I haven't been able to test them out, yet...
  14. They didn't do ANYTHING last night. They're saving it all up for the real deal. They've done that in past years, too.
  15. Looking at Iowa's schedule, I'm not sure they learned their lesson, it looks remarkably similar to last years and if they get bogged down in conference play, which is possible, could keep them out again. I think they've got the talent to make the next step, we'll see if they can make it.
  16. it was an exhibition game that got out of hand in a hurry. That's what it felt like to me from my 200 level perch. The entire arena was dead. I think LeeBO nailed why I'd buy that, and this was the perfect game for it. Didn't do much of that, personally, but I know some around me were sorta just taking it all in. They've never used all the bells and whistles during exhibition games and yesterday was no different, though it did seem as though there were a few technical difficulties in the clock operations and such.

  18. Webster brings so much to the table, we might have to live with a few turnovers from time to time. Also, Parker played 9 more minutes than Pitchford and UNK jacked up quite a few 3's. There were quite a few long rebounds to be had.
  19. I wouldn't call it bashing. The thing he's known for, he didn't do well. That's just fact. But so is that he did a bunch of other things well.
  20. Also, Smith's two steals out on the perimeter were a little surprising. Didn't expect to see that.
  21. It's interesting about Fuller, because despite his poor night from the field, he still found a way to score points. He got to the line 8 times, making six of them. That bodes well. He'll play better as he gets more experience.
  22. There's really not much we can learn from today's game. I've been burned by reading into these game too much before...that said, I'm still going to make some observations. - Yeah, the Arena's sweet. Still would have liked it to have been a little more intimate, but overall, I can't complain. Hard to believe Nebrasketball's got a building like this. - The competition wasn't much, but I thought Webster, Pitchford and Petteway were as advertised. We'll get a better idea on Friday how they'll fit in down the road. - Fuller looked like he was fighting through some nerves. Didn't look very good. I think he'll be fine, but he didn't play that well, especially in the first half. - I though Webster looked very comfortable. Like the court is his happy place. - Smith has a B1G body, will need to learn how to use it a bit, but I think he's going to be pretty solid. - Pitchford sure likes to shoot, doesn't he? https://twitter.com/CoachMiles/status/397546165538795520 - I don't think they did that. Looked a little complacent coming out of the break. - Shields looked great. Thought he looked quick and decisive. He was the best player on the court. Thought I saw him getting some work done on his ankle, hope it's not too serious. Anybody heard anything? - Parker, I thought looked fine. Not spectacular, had one slopppy turnover he almost globe-trottered out of. - I know Rivers played, but I hardly noticed him... - Miles has mentioned before that they'd struggled to hold onto the ball. Thought they did a pretty good job of that, I think they only had seven or eight. Again, we'll know more about that when they get against a team that can match up athletically. - Good to see Peltz back out there. Not sure how much he'll play when things get going, but good to see him back. - Wouldn't read too much into the student section. Monday night, exhibition game. They'll be out in full force on Friday, I'm sure. All-in-all, no complaints here. Just need to get Gallegos and Hawking healthy and we should be all set. See ya on Friday!
  23. Chatter's coming back, too! Can't wait!
