  1. - I'd start by saying that effort isn't gonna get it done starting on Wednesday. They'll get beat by 15 or more. I know at least one coach was pretty upset by that effort. I think they'll start out playing well on Wednesday, they need to do it beyond the under 8 time out of the first half, though. Part of the learning curve for a young team. - Liked seeing Tai step up to end the USD charge. - Didn't like that they let them back in the game. - Didn't like that they matched us in the rebounding column. The 12 Yotes Offensive boards isn't good either. - Jack is much more comfortable shooting in Pinnacle Bank Arena. - This was probably the best game we saw from both Jordy and Roby. - Another solid game from Jacobson, too. - Good to see the scoring dispersed like it was. - The whole Coach Miles/Coach Smith thing made for a bit of weird game. - Hey, UCLA won at Kentucky! That's cool. - And UNO beat Iowa! That's cooler! Also, illustrates the reason that NU needs not waste their time playing the Mavs.
  2. Ed wasn't exactly sculpted when he stepped on campus.
  3. I don't know...There's as much parity as I've seen in the league since we've been in it.
  4. Things happened. NU lost. I don't feel like detailing things right now.

  6. Move the weight around more than lose it, I think. I need to do that too, actually.
  7. I would call it average. I thought they played pretty good defense and struggled offensively.
  8. Jordy's got quite a ways to go before he'll be starting, I think.
  9. NU played 6 halves of basketball this weekend. Four were good to very good. One was average. One was bad. This all netted one win and two losses. They had a mixed bag in terms of play from a variety of guys. Many want the kids to play more, and they might be right. Some, after just six games, want Jack and Anton kicked to the curb. Some want to let those two to play through the valley. There's a tough stretch of games the next couple of weeks.
  10. I think his coach is gonna take care of that. He looked rather nonplussed after that.
  11. - Lots of coachable things from this game. - NU started pretty strong but couldn't sustain it. Looked like they hit the wall somewhere in the first half. Virgina Tech was the aggressor from the start of the second half. NU really struggled to answer. - I'm not seeing what Taylor's bringing offensively. - Would like to see Roby getting 5-8 more minutes a game at least. - Webster has been Steady Eddie and continued to be so. - Watson still fighting some all-or-none consistencies. - Morrow had a decent game. Had some spurts where he struggled to secure a couple big rebounds where VT turned it into points. - Virginia Tech is much improved under Williams. They'll be a pretty solid team, I think. - Just couldn't get it going offensively. - Gill and McVeigh really struggling offensively right now. - Had a lot of defensive breakdowns in the 2nd half. - The team that played in the first two games is a tourney team. The one that played today isn't. - I thought Jordy looked pretty good defensively in the few minutes he got. Still got some work to do offensively. He reminds me of Tai in that way. He's got a lot to learn down there and it's coming at him really fast right now. Everyone says he's a hard working grinder that will eat up coaching. If that's true, we'll be talking about him a lot like we're talking about Tai by the time he's done. Hopefully he gets there before his senior year. - I would still like to see more pressure in times when the game isn't on the line. I think it could be a good weapon to spring on teams from time to time. - This weekend was still a net positive for this team. 3 quality opponents. Proved you can compete with good teams. Not quite ready for 3 games in 4 days.
  12. Not gonna put a ton of thoughts out there right now. NU did a lot of things right tonight but weren't quite good enough to get it done. Some mental errors and the inability to finish at the rim is gonna have to be something they have to get figured out. Still a few too many mental errors, too. Glynn continues to be a stud. Morrow had another big day. Webster, too. Those three are the core. Jack and Gill were basically non-factors. Thought Jordy, Roby and Horne had some nice moments even if it didn't necessarily turn into points. Loved the fight they showed on both ends. I hope they can bring that back with them on Sunday and get two wins out of this deal. That would be a really good thing.
  13. ...no... Buzz played at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
  14. Try here, at least for the UCLA one. http://www.latimes.com/sports/ucla/la-sp-ucla-basketball-20161125-story.html

  16. - Great, great start for NU, 17-5, I think. - Energy and execution waned after the front line came out. - Gill ran the point a bit there. Might be a decent way to him going a bit. - Thought Watson tried to do too much a bit when the second line was in. Forced a couple bad shots. - Huskers owned the paint. Guess I didn't expect that. I like it, though. - Jordy had a couple chances to secure some loose balls and couldn't do it. Helped fuel the Dayton run a bit. - Really good on the boards. - Gill heating up! 8 points in the first half! - Seems like for as much as NU drives the ball, seems like they should draw more fouls than they do. That seems to happen a lot for NU teams. Is there something they're not doing to draw fouls? - Big finish for NU to the half, capped with a big 3 from McVeigh. - I agree with whomever it was on the call, that Watson needs to do a better job of getting to the line. That's how he takes his game to the next level, which is already pretty high. - 2 turnovers on inbound plays. - NU did a nice job keeping Dayton at arms length most of the 2nd half. - Dayton missed two free throws that Dayton got offensive boards on. Flyers got points on both: a 3 and a tip in. - Watson is a gamer. - NU did a bunch of things to try and let Dayton back in the game, but also made some big plays down the stretch. - Morrow got a lot of love for his play tonight. Deservedly so. Big time game for the sophomore. Love watching him play right now. - Really, really rough stretch at the end by McVeigh to give Dayton the lead. That game was more stressful than it needed to be. - That was a big win for a number of reasons. Won it with your senior leader on the bench in the final seconds, beat a pretty solid team. Get a shot at a blue blood tomorrow.
  17. I watched the NU produced highlights and they had a shot of the last ditch play by Dayton that Morrow disrupted. The angle the shot had was from the floor on the NU end. What I didn't catch on the broadcast was that the ball fell to the Dayton player who tried to turn and get a shot off. Not sure if he would have, but Glynn was right there to block it to prevent it. Was a really athletic play I completely missed on the broadcast. https://t.co/zbIEaYueix
  18. Each game makes me more excited to see how they handle the increasing difficulty. Almost like the next five games build on themselves in that regard, save the South Dakota game, and that presents some unique challenges of its own, too. I don't know where it'll all end, but it's gonna be a fun next couple of weeks, I think.
  19. You mean the game where the players had to work hard vs. a talented team and spring board them to solid season? This win was good for this team, regardless of what Dayton does from here on out. They get a chance at two more quality opponents and had to fight through some adversity to get there.

  21. I agree, mostly because beating Dayton means playing games that will positively impact the RPI, losing it means the potential to play games, at least one, possibly two, that will hurt the RPI. I'd rather play good competition than games that will boost the win column.
  22. I would disagree with the notion that the gap is widening. I think the gap is closer than it's been in a while, at least since Dougie was on campus. The problem is that both programs have improved and CU's improvement has put them into the top 15. NU's just put themselves in the middle (I think) of the Big Ten. The talent gap isn't as wide as it's been, though. For NU to have won as infrequently as they have is inexcusable.
