  1. I probably won't be able to make it to the game tomorrow. I've missed a December game each of the last two years, lost 'em both. This is a dangerous game. The coaches have been notified. Appropriate precautions are in place. That said, I've got two tickets for tomorrow's game, 200 level, if anyone can use 'em.
  2. Transitive score comparison: Nebraska 71 UCLA 82 Texas A&M 67 UCLA 74 Michigan 102 UCLA 84 UCLA 97 Kentucky 92 Ohio State 73 UCLA 86 Doesn't necessarily mean anything, just interesting to take a look at.
  3. It might not go well vs. a team with elite guards like KU. Most teams we play won't have that. They've used it effectively vs. teams that don't have players like Mason and Jackson. We're not going to see a lot of teams as talented as that.
  4. There's been plenty of conversation about that. Given how the lineups put together and who they've got playing regularly, I think it would be something that would work well with what is on the roster. I've thought that for a while, actually. You've got guys like Watson and Webster who are really good in transition. I think Taylor and Gill are, too. Those four leading the press with Morrow, Roby and Jordy right behind would be a pretty good situation. I think it might even open things up for McVeigh and Jacobson.
  5. I didn't forget, it just must not have worked when I tried it. Thanks for picking up the slack.
  6. Listened to this segment with Nick Bahe and I really agree with his thought here. I really think NU has the personnel to play that way.
  7. Good golly, Molloy?
  8. When did Gophers play the Bulls?
  9. That's...a painful box score...
  10. NU is playing about 20 minutes of good basketball a game right now, almost regardless of opponent. It's not very often a team plays good basketball for 40 minutes, especially in November and December. But the teams we're trying to reach (Creighton, Kansas, etc...) are playing it for about 32 minutes a game. If NU can get to 28-30 minutes a game of good basketball, the feelings about this team will change dramatically.
  11. They're the least likely, but they've got a punchers chance. That's part of the nature of the tournament.
  12. I don't really see that much difference between McVeigh and MJ. It's basically a lesser version of what Purdue does. Maybe you see Taylor and Jordy get the start this week with MJ and JM coming off the bench, IDK, but I think the battle for playing time is more with Jack and Jordy.
  13. Every team we've lost to will likely be a tournament team. If you told me any one individually would end up in the Sweet 16, I wouldn't be surprised. Three of them have a good chance to go well beyond that.
  14. Is it Roby for McVeigh? I'm not sure it is. Right now it's Jordy for McVeigh. Once Roby shows he's ready, we'll have the conversation with him and probably Jacobson. These things have a way of clarifying themselves.
  15. While I believe that this season will pay tremendous dividends next year, I think there's a lot to play for yet this year. There are a lot of coin flip games in the Big Ten this year. If this schedule did it's job and prepared them for what's to come, we could start to see the fruits of that effort this season. I'd argue we already have in several respects.
  16. The only thing that I think keeps Jordy from starting just yet is that he's still a bit foul prone. I think he's gonna play starters minutes as much as possible, but he may be the first off the bench after they get a feel for how games are gonna be called. Or maybe they're close to comfortable playing him from the tip. Either way, he's really close to carrying the load. Really cool to watch him settle in at this level.
  17. - Might be time to start working Jordy into the starting lineup. He's still a bit foul prone, which might be what prevents this from happening, but he looks better each game. - Interesting to see what Miles says about Gill, Taylor and Jordy starting the 2nd half. - Liked the start to this game for the Huskers. Looked poised and unafraid. KU's athleticism took over the second 10 minutes of the game. - Being away for so long, I forgot how fortunate KU gets in Allen Fieldhouse. - Missed a couple chances at the rim in the 2nd half that could have really made things interesting. At least 4. - Webster probably should be an all-conference guard this year. He's been really great on both ends of the floor. - I think this was Gill's best game. Would be great if that's the start of him getting going. - Evan Taylor played pretty well, too. - I liked the use of token pressure on KU bringing the ball up the floor. Would like to see them do more of that down the line. - No McVeigh in the 2nd half, huh? Fuller instead? That's a development to watch going forward. - Miles Simon's point about NU having more success when they attack was a good one. Not sure if that's a mentality thing for NU or KU not being disciplined defensively, but I agree with him. - B2B games for Watson fouling out. Not something that can continue. He wasn't great in either game, frankly. - They missed a few passes that, frankly, NU's gotta hang onto. - Felt like they played better today in a lot of ways than they did on Wednesday. - A lot of conversation about the direction of the program, with NU's struggles this stretch and now having 5 losses, likely all to tournament teams, and I wouldn't be surprised if at least 3 of them, maybe more, are playing on the second week or beyond. Sometimes they've played well. Others they looked over-matched. I do think this will better the team down the road, this year and beyond. I see a lot of winnable games in the Big Ten. There are a lot of things that are really encouraging to me so far this year. It would have been nice to have a couple of wins, but I think this stretch is really going to be something we look back on as a foundational time for this group.
  18. I hear you. It's kinda the nature of the beast, though when things aren't going as well as we'd all like. I think if SE and TM stay the course, they'll be fine.
  19. Has he? He's shooting below what he did last year. He's an ok 3 point shooter. If he's not going to be more than that, one of the freshmen needs to be starting over him, IMO. If NU just shot their season average coming into the game from 3 on Wednesday, it's a much different result. That's just 4 makes over the course of the game. They're next to last in the B1G from beyond the arc. That, more than anything else, is what Miles needs to find right now.
  20. There's no gurantee it changes the record much, though. If NU loses to Dayton then beats Portland they'd have faced off with New Mexico which is no gimmie for NU. Maybe they pick up an extra win, but It's no sure thing.
  21. welp... - This was an interesting game because both teams fell into the other's game plan. NU wanted to slow the pace and keep the scoring low and for large parts of the game, they did that. They kept the Jays in the scoring range they wanted to. They defended well. They rebounded fairly well. They got the line more (until the very end). They just couldn't score. - The Jays wanted the Huskers to turn into a jump shooting team. The Huskers were happy to oblige. They went 3-22 from three. And a bunch of 'em were good looks, they gotta be able to hit 8 of 22 if they're gonna get that many open looks. But they couldn't do that and it was the difference in the game. - Both teams got the other do what they wanted them to do. When that happens, the difference became who was the better team and that was the Jays. - When Tai got in foul trouble, that really changed the game. He was having enough success and was giving the Jays all sorts of fits. When he got in foul trouble, he was basically neutered. He couldn't do the things that make him so valuable. - Jordy had a really great first half. The Jays really struggled with him. It was easily the best he's looked. Hopefully he'll build on that. - Thought Roby looked nice at times. Looked overwhelmed at others. - Needed Glynn and Ed to be on their games. Neither were. On top of that, none of the other role players played well either. Not a good recipe for success. - When it got down 20-4, I thought "here we go again". I'm guessing a lot of people did. - Thought it was really impressive they were able to fight back and get into the game at half time. Just couldn't get over the hump. I don't know what else to say right now. I'm sure I'll have other things at some point. Just really disappointed they couldn't answer the challenge tonight. The Jays are a really good team. NU had their chances, they just couldn't make it happen tonight. On to the next one...and what a doozy it is...

  23. Changed his career. Was never the same after it.
  24. McVeigh gets on the board. Nobody has more than one Runza on the season.
