2013 Husker Scrimmage Thread: Hüsker Nü
Concrete replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
He didn't... Thinking of Rivers? -
Shaq is one thing... Obviously one of the most dominating forces we've ever seen, but Elbert was very young while Shaq was in his prime. I'm sure he appreciates his greatness, idolizes him, etc. but it would probably be like someone my age (born 1988) meeting Larry Bird or Magic. Obviously I'd be blown away and probably be rendered speechless, but I don't remember either of them playing.. As a recruit, it'd be cool, but not a game changer. Meeting Lebron, though.... Damn. That's tough to beat.

2013 Husker Scrimmage Thread: Hüsker Nü
Concrete replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Someone already touched on this, but I wanted to back it up since it seems to have been overlooked. We got there around 5:15-5:30 while the "actual" practice was still going on.. Petteway was by far the best player on the court. Getting to the rim with ease, rebounding, and hitting damn near every shot. Also no surprise that things looked sloppy tonight, Miles had them working their asses off in the first practice. Push ups after every turnover, suicides for the defense when they allowed transition (I think, not totally sure) points, etc. Glad Shavon is okay. From my seat, it was a nasty fall. Visions of another broken hip screwing up a promising player's career. -
Tai Webster essentially said the same thing. If we want to be a big boy program. this is the stuff we are going to have to deal with and accept.
-
they signed 3 power forwards and 2 centers in last year's class
-
Glad we have Nebrasketball to look forward to.

dont really mind the "fuck the fans" part to be honest. I'm sure every coach thinks that at some point or another.. what is unacceptable and overlooked is him basically saying we need him to be successful and he looks forward to leaving Nebraska for another program. -
Glad we have Nebrasketball to look forward to.

I'd prefer to see us go after someone with head coaching experience. The thing about Frost is, similar to Pelini, he probably wouldn't be on our radar if he didn't have ties to Nebraska. Now, I think Frost has potential to be a great head coach down the road, but he has 1 year of coordinator experience. Nebraska doesn't need to be a training ground for head coaches. -

Pelini is all but a lame duck coach with his comments about tommie frazier. Sad to say but we will probably be going through another coaching search this winter. Pelini's PC today was very Callahan esque when things started coming unglued in 2007. For the record, I think this thread is very indicative of why Bo needs to go. A lot of "well we don't want to be in a coaching search vs Texas," "I don't really care about the W/L anymore," etc. Nothing wrong with that line of thinking, it just reaffirms that the program has plummeted to a state of apathy amongst fans. I was personally "over" the loss to UCLA about 20 minutes after I got home from the game. Not acceptable IMO. -
New PF/C offer 6'9'' David Wacker out of TX
Concrete replied to TheKamdyMan's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I think this is exactly what happened. Highly doubt this has anything to do with an imminent decision from Robinson announcing to Nebraska. Wacker just wanted to go somewhere that considered him a priority which is completely understandable. -
The new logo is awful and it looks even worse when you put it on apparel. Seriously looks like walmart brand shit.
-
so......lincoln, NE
-
Omaha irate = Well done PBA management
-
Thanks man. So Wacker is looking like a fall back option at this point? I think Deng is ours to lose, just from brief updates I've read. Robinson and Bolden will obviously be very tough to pull off
-
Summary?
-
can't believe it. Going to Jay Z for sure. Absolutely pumped
-
Wow, the bluejay underground thread linked in this thread is unbelievable. Trashing PBA, talking about how Nebraska fans are dumb because they think playing in the big ten will help recruiting (lol what? take a look in the mirror), etc. in a thread called "Delusional" is absolutely hilarious. You can't get more ironic than that.
-
I highly doubt he's actually paying for this. Not saying we are fronting the cost, but I'm sure there are some back channels being worked to help get him here without digging into his bank account. And I'm completely on board with that.
-
Hopefully there is serious interest here and not just a courtesy visit. I suppose we'll find out shortly after September 14. Regardless, getting these guys in for unofficials is impressive. I can't believe it.
-
Gonna head over there a little later today after work. Can you access the suites, or just 100/200/300/etc?
-
Nothing against Bolden, but it's much easier to find swing players like him than it is to find a 7'1 300 guy. You take Robinson all day. Obviously I would be ecstatic with either of them, though.
-
Black for sure. I'd like to see them wear it more than just once or twice a year, too. Possibly every weekend home game or something, ala the Lakers wearing white on Sundays. Indifferent about grey. I'm all for mixing things up though (if it's done well).
-
Or it's possible that he simply prefers Creighton over us... INCONCEIVABLE! FWIW I have heard that this is not the case. But if we've cooled on him, I could definitely see him ending up at Creighton.
-
They've done it exactly how they should do it. They've got a diverse list that a will have broad appeal that will bring in a mostly different crowd for each show. They'll get to that genre eventually. Just a matter of getting the right band to come through and have the dates work out with the venue. Agree with both of you. Not personally "pumped" about any of them, but I think they've pretty much nailed it as far as booking and getting people in the seats is concerned. For Lincoln, they've brought in a great haul IMO. Better than I would've imagined.
-
If I wasn't on vacation I'd be over there for sure. Although, as i've stated before, I live in the Haymarket so I wouldn't really be going out of my way to do so.
