branching off the 'pinnacle bank seating chart' thread..

yea that would be fun to watch. I always try to search for old Nebraska highlights/games on Youtube but the selection is incredibly sparse -

well yea, i guess i'm wondering how big our new student section will be in comparison to the pre-baseline set up at devaney. i might be wrong, but our old student section seemed to be quite a bit bigger than the current set up. Perhaps it's just because we were better then and the students were a little more raucous -
yea i don't get that. if they want more courtsides why don't they just line the entire baseline on the other side with them? get the students as close as possible

Michigan State Game Thread: I'm A "Lue"ser
Concrete replied to cipsucks's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
what do you expect out of him? He's not an overly talented player. You can get frustrated with him, but there's a point where there's literally nothing he can do because he is physically outmatched and out talented. I hate to sound like an apologist, but the guy is doing everything he can. If someone would have told me in 2009 that Ubel would average 11.5 points and 7 boards his senior year, I would have told them that they are insane. I doubt think I'm alone there. -
Matthew Atewe -> Auburn -> Washington
Concrete replied to TheKamdyMan's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
he was clearly talking about the game, most likely early in the 2nd half when we went on our run. if there is anything to read into the tweet it's the fact that he was watching our game instead of whatever else was on tv i do notice he never sent out a tweet during the clemson game against miami today -
i think shavon is already closer to 6'7 than 6'6. He has a couple inches on talley, who seems to be a legit 6'5
-
i think you two need to meet somewhere in the middle. Shavon isn't Paul Pierce but he's certainly more athletic than Ryan Anderson and he gets to the rim easier than Toney McCray could even dream of. I don't think Shavon is fully developed right now (obviously not many freshman are). Heighth wise probably, but it looks like he still has a lot of awkward/baby fat that will naturally go away in the next year or two and allow him to be a more fluid athlete.

Kevin Thomas: Juco PF, former Texas commit
Concrete replied to TheKamdyMan's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
can't see Miles reaching to fill a spot, so unless theres some legitimate stud out there that we don't know about I think we'll finish at 4 (or 3 if Atewe doesn't come here). With our APR and lack of scholarships for the 2014 class, Miles will only take someone if he thinks they are a legitimate big 10 player. After Parker and Vucetic, we don't have the luxury to take someone and cut them if they don't work out -
Kevin Thomas: Juco PF, former Texas commit
Concrete replied to TheKamdyMan's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
HOPEFULLY the reason we told Thomas not to come is because Atewe gave us a (dreaded) silent verbal. I kind of doubt Miles would have told Thomas not to come if he wasn't confident in our chances with Atewe. I can't see Miles being ok with not taking a single big man in this class, whether it's a Atewe or a reach in JUCO that we can take off the books in 2015 -
Who will that money go to? i'm not sure if booze sales can go to UNL, but the added ticket and concession revenue absolutely will
-
we held a lead at one point so i considered it a pretty successful night
-
not really, I think we just realize that selling booze at our games will help attendance and keep otherwise uninterested people, interested
-
I wouldn't put too much stock into what is said on radio shows. TO was very adamant about not selling booze at UNL events, so Eichorst going on a radio show just over a month into his tenure and going completely against what TO did could lead to some bad feelings, regardless of the popularity of the decision to sell booze. We still have 7 months until the arena and 9 until the first Nebraska basketball game, let's see how this plays out over the summer. Even if booze isn't sold in year 1, I'd venture to guess it will be in year 2 or 3.

the more i hear/see from Hawkins the more I like him. Very underrated by us fans, IMO.

JoJo the show Anderson -> Northern Arizona

Norm- I'd definitely reserve judgment. As you said, he is a sophomore right now. That means his most recent film is probably from his freshman year, possibly even 8th grade. Even if it is his sophomore film, he's still going to be incredibly raw. Everything I've read points to this guy being a huge prospect in 2015 so I'm happy we are on him early. -
sorry if already discussed- Ben Johnson

thanks, guess i never noticed that with Doc's assistants. Miles' are a little more animated i suppose -
Anyone know where he was yesterday? Noticed that he wasn't on the bench.

I am a little concerned about all the Shields love.
Concrete replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
It was obvious going in that Shields was going to be keyed on and Illinois wasn't going to let him beat them. This is the first time this has happened to him at this level, and it's no surprise that he struggled. The bright side is, he's getting different defenses directed at him as a true freshman. This is nothing more than a learning experience IMO, as this whole year should be. -
Shields best true frosh since _______________

shavon also didn't get the benefit of an entire non conf slate of tune up/adaptation games due to his elbow injury. there's no question Shavon's season stats would be much more impressive if he was healthy all year. and I agree with LK1. You can analyze the stats all you want, but at the end of the day, my eyes tell me that Shavon is better at this stage than Anderson, McCray, etc. -
yea i understand what you're saying. i'm just speaking from a purely developmental perspective. i remember watching gallegos as a freshman and sophomore and it seemed like it took him 10 seconds to get a shot off and he was completely worthless if he wasn't wide open, spotting up. now he has one of the quickest releases i've ever seen from a guy at Nebraska and he is far from a spot up shooter his game has improved substantially IMO
-
Not as a point guard, no. he's not a point guard though.. he was recruited as a 2, played his first two seasons as a 2, and is a 2 this year. he may have wanted to learn how to play point, but you can only teach a guy so much before he reaches his ceiling and sometimes that ceiling isn't high enough. biggs has played point his entire life. i also think Biggs is a better raw player than Gallegos.
