  1. If that's what beating a rival means then they aren't our rival. It's a game we all want to win more than most but in no way the measuring stick of the program nor predictor of future success. I'm old enough to remember when we killed a good Jays team and then got our teeth kicked in during conference.
  2. Any corner shot Nebraska gets against this 1-3-1 they won't hesitate to take Georgia Tech driving into the lane at will Kevin Cross in early Nebraska sloppy with the ball nifty move by Cheatham to put Nebraska up 11-9 x2 Nebraska looking gassed at the 10 minute mark 8-0 run from GT as Nebraska keeps turning the ball over Yvan with a nfty post move extra passing on the last two plays result in 2 baskets at a 20-19 lead Kavas called for a foul on a baill he wouldn't have gotten to. Having a rough half Thor just knows where to be and sets up for an easy layup. He throws a terrible pass on the next possession and then manages to draw an offensive foul on Devoe Nebraska has drawn 2 offensive fouls on Davoe in two minutes After two turnovers and a blowby for an easy basket a disgusted HCFH calls timout with 1:30 to go Burke had a basket completely erased and GT ends the half on a 10-2 run GT comes out hitting a 3 and Nebraska answers Tech gets an easy bucket off a nice inbounds play Mack gets nice penetration and Yvan blows the bunny. Game starting to slip away as Nebraska can't buy a bucket and is down 43-32 Good post defense by Green It's the part of the game where my children yell and work calls and everything is muddled which feels how this game is going, down 50-40 Nebraska getting to the FT line but thus far is 8-16 which is frustrating when you're down 9 with 7:29 to go Green frustrated by 3s not going down gets the charge trying to drive in Mack hits a tough 3 to pull the team within 11 GT defending the rim well in transistion Can't make layups or FTs.
  3. Hoiberg didn't recruit Burke nor Thor. Kavas and Cheatham won't be here next year anyway. The simplest explanation for Curtis not playing was that he wasn't good enough in practice to crack the rotation and the simplest explanation for his leaving is that he didn't come here to sit.
  4. The funny thing about that is the majority of the time Curtis was on the floor so was Kavas
  5. He's generating a to throw when the refs aren't looking, which isn't a rule yet enforced
  6. Kugler is at Ohio St this Saturday It's Bahe and Vince Welch
  7. Are we going to need to burn Jace Piatkowski's red shirt now?
  8. Slightly clears out the logjam of players in the class of 2023
  9. Mid-season transfer. He'd be eligible next year second semester. In theory he could have played here 6 more games and then transferred out. I guess you can appreciate his honesty.
  10. It is Bahe
  11. We couldn't get Miles on the PBP for this one?
  12. Look at the numbers
  13. What about the coach that spent the entire last year eating cat poop sandwiches?

  16. That leads to the 2nd part of the site: analysis with one guy on and off the court Here is what it looks like when Thor is on or off (excluding possessions that included Arop or Easley as these are probably garbage minutes) I was surprised to see the defensive numbers looked so much better with him on the court. This is something to monitor going forward: Is our defense better with Thor vs Burke and why? Out of position? Beaten? Overhelp?

  19. All the coaches at Lincoln High tonight to catch Sallis and Jasen Green
  20. Sam Hoiberg hits the game winner for Pius Not sure if Fred was able to catch it because they were at Lincoln High watching Hunter Sallis and Jasen Green
  21. This will probably change at some point, but thus far it's been as simple as Shoot good = win Shoot bad = loss
  22. A reason to be optimistic about us winning: Our wins have come against teams with 'substandard shooting defenses' A reason to be pessimistic: Even if we score a bunch of points on Saturday we're easily facing the best offense we've seen who might score a bunch more than a bunch
  23. Found an interesting tool at https://hoop-explorer.com/ Here is a full explanation - https://hoop-explorer.blogspot.com/2019/11/fun-with-college-basketball-onoff.html There are two tools. One is a tool that breaks down all lineups and how they performed. The other tool allows you to see what a lineup looks like based on one guy being in or out. Our most obvious platoon is Yvan and Cross. If you think that Yvan is better for our defense and Cross is better for our offense, this very much backs that up. Our two most used lineups are Mack/Burke, Cheatham, Green, and then either Yvan or Cross. The top numbers for each row is offense and the bottom defense. When Yvan is in the game our scoring inside the arc seems to take a big hit. Yvan is shooting 45% which isn't great but is better than the team average. It's probable at times he clogs the lane. We don't seem to be getting to the line as much, not exactly sure why. Defensively, we're defending the rim significantly better. When Cross is the game we're actually shooting worse from 3 and part of that is due to KC shooting poorly from 3 and perhaps having the 3pt line clogged with defenders. We are shooting quite well from 2 which also is partially due to Cross converting at a high % inside the arc and it being open if his defender is dragged to the 3pt line. Perhaps we get more transition offense with Cross in the game. We're also getting to the FT line at a higher clip. Defensively it appears that we're getting killed inside with Cross in the game which most would probably agree on. It's probable having to help down because of Cross causes us to pick up more fouls than with Yvan. Not sure of the biggest factor not represented here, namely the matchups used by the other team to counter the difference between YO and KC.
  24. I really don't buy this. Creighton is easily the most brought up team on this board. The switching of conferences essentially killed all rivalries prior to 2012. If these guys aren't our rival, then no one is our rival.
