  1. Cross is running down the court to set a pick on Cowan and doesn't get set. Mack doesn't give him time to set up before he starts to go around Cowan is extremely savvy so in realtime he pretends to get blown up by Cross Seems like something that gets called for a flop by the right ref early in the season
  2. Notes from UNL Nebraska fell to Maryland 72-70, as the Terrapins remained perfect at home this season (14-0). The two-point margin marked the seventh time in the 10 all-time meetings between Nebraska and Maryland that the game has been decided by five or fewer points. The Huskers have played four games at the XFINITY Center, with the four games decided by a total of 10 points, including three straight games by two points. Nebraska went 7-of-33 from the 3-point line in tonight’s game. With the seven makes, the Huskers have made 200 3-pointers this season, becoming the 10th team in school history to make 200 3-pointers in a season. With the season-high 33 3-point attempts, the Huskers have shot 611 3-pointers this year, becoming the seventh team in school history to attempt 600 3-pointers in a season. Haanif Cheatham, who was questionable for the game after suffering an injury Saturday at Iowa, scored a game-high 20 points, including 18 in the second half. His 21 points were his second-highest total in Big Ten play and marked his third 20-point game this season. Matej Kavas scored 11 points, marking his first career Big Ten Conference game in double figures. It was his first double-figure effort since Dec. 29. Cam Mack dished out eight assists in the game to give him 156 assists this season. He passed Tyronn Lue (152) to move into fifth place on Nebraska’s single-season assists list, while becoming only the fourth Husker to record 150 assists in a season. Freshman Kevin Cross made his first career start as Nebraska utilized its sixth different starting lineup this season. Cross became the third true freshman to start for the Huskers this season, joining Charlie Easley and Yvan Ouedraogo.
  3. In terms of 'worst KenPom ranking by a new Nebraska coach', Fred is walking the line 2013 136 Tim Miles 2020 132 Fred Hoiberg 2001 83 Barry Collier 2007 82 Doc Sadler
  4. We went 11-15 from the FT line (73.3%). 2nd game in a row over 70%!
  5. Turgeon taking the loss win hard
  6. Yeah I get that might be the price we'd have to pay.
  7. Liking what i'm seeing from Mack and Cross thus far in the 2nd half
  8. I dunno between Mack being rattled by the air ball chants and looking like an inflatable when he tries to double in the post it seems like a toss up
  9. @49r drink for Hummel dropping the phrase "perfect for their system"
  10. Wow Yvan bumped Marial 5 feet and he still blocked the shot
  11. In some regards Kavas is a prototypical Creighton player
  12. He went 8-15 between Purdue and Indiana
  13. This game plan, visualized
  14. I'm having tacos tonight #BigTuesday
  15. Burke's 3pt shooting in 2020: 3-30 (10%)
  16. You're right. Shouldn't have had chicken for lunch
  17. Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-16) at #9 Maryland Terrapins (19-4) Date: Tuesday Feb 11th, 2020 Time: 7:30 p.m. Arena: Xfinity Center (17,950, 14th largest in D-I) Broadcast: BTN Maryland Info Head Coach: Mark TurgeonLocation: College Park, MDConference: B1G 10Nickname: Terrapins, TerpsMascots: Testudo KenPom rank: 8 Point Spread: Maryland by 17.5 Depth: 6+ Offensive Style: Love the 3 Defensive Style: Force a bad shot Key Injuries for Nebraska Dachon Burke- out Haanif Cheatham - questionable with a calf injury Hoiberg Presser Hoiberg recaps the Iowa game. Fielded a question about layups and then talked about how they do practice layups, which was in no way depressing. Players to watch: Jalen "Sticks" Smith The lanky Sophomore Center is a formidable rim protector and is shooting lights out not only at the rim but currently shooting 47.7% from 3 in conference play. The future NBA stretch 4 is a double-double waiting to happen Players to watch: Anthony Cowan Cowan is the key to the Maryland offense. The senior PG leads the team in points, assists, and steals and rarely comes off the court. Roster points PG SG SF PF C Pct 1 1 Anthony Cowan 6-0 180 Sr 5 Eric Ayala 6-5 195 So 11 Darryl Morsell 6-5 200 Jr 2 Aaron Wiggins 6-6 200 So 25 Jalen Smith 6-10 225 So 30.8 2 1 Anthony Cowan 6-0 180 Sr 5 Eric Ayala 6-5 195 So 11 Darryl Morsell 6-5 200 Jr 24 Donta Scott 6-7 225 Fr 25 Jalen Smith 6-10 225 So 21.5 Turgeon basically plays 6 guys major minutes with 3-4 more guys playing spot minutes as needed Wiggins is probably the 3rd option on offense and is more like to slash to the rim. Doesn't have the 3pt accuracy he did last year Morsell is one of Maryland's best defenders and a 'glue guy' Ayala is capable of handling the ball. Has really struggled with his outside shot. Look for his man to sag off him to double in the post at times Freshman Scott has struggled with his outside shot as well. SG Serrel Smith is a defensive whiz, offensive liability PF Ricky Lindo has been squeezed from the rotation but is a formidable rebounder and efficient 5th option scorer Jr Center Joshua Tomaic is post depth 7'2" Chol Marial is a giant athletic freak but is raw and hasn't played much The Skinny: A shorthanded Nebraska team rolls into #9 Maryland on Tuesday just 3 days after being taken apart by Iowa. Dachon Burke didn't make the trip due to the flu and it's questionable whether or not Haanif Cheatham will be able to play thanks to a calf injury suffered in that Iowa loss. Given Burke has started every game this season we'll see Nebraska's 6th different starting lineup tonight. Maryland possesses one of the best defenses in the country as they've held several conference opponents to under 60 points at home. Their length and ability to guard without fouling essentially means most teams will have to beat them from 3. When you have a team like Nebraska who has trouble converting layups when no one is guarding them, expect that to be the game plan. With Burke out this might be a game where you let Jervay Green rip and and see what happens. Offensively, the Terrapins tend to make up for their average shooting by forcing their way to the free throw line. Nebraska is generally a team that defends well without fouling but this will be paramount tonight given we're possibly down to 8 available players. Zone might be on the menu tonight and hopefully that won't result in too many back-breaking offensive rebounds. Maryland just beat Illinois on the road and travel to play Michigan St on Saturday. How much energy are they bringing tonight vs this reeling Nebraska team? Prediction: Maryland 84 - Nebraska 64 View full article

  19. I think he's a good player but I look at those 3pt shooting numbers and wonder if Nebraska is like me and coffee beers when it comes to transfers I will buy any coffee beer even if I know it's not going to be what I wanted.
