Nebraska to host Georgia Tech for the 2020-21 ACC-B1G Challenge
hhcmatt replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
ESPN picks the matchups and the primary concern is TV ratings. After that you need to account for who has been home or away which is why you tend to get duplicates -
Notice the 11/25 date on there, which is when the Nebrasketbubble tourney is to start

@AuroranHusker I'm trying to get better about putting stuff on the front page which is going to result in duplicate information. -

Nebraska will get a chance at revenge as they host Georgia Tech for the ACC-B1G Challenge on Wednesday, Dec 9th, 2020. Last year, the Yellow Jackets walked away with a 73-56 victory in Atlanta. The Yellowjackets return 4 of 5 starters from last year's 17-14 squad which ranked 16th in KenPom's defensive efficiency metric. Here are the rest of the matchups. Note that unlike in previous years no games are scheduled for scheduled for Monday which means 7 games with occur on Tuesday and Wednesday. Given that ESPN plans to roll this out on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU there will either be a couple of very early or very late scheduled games. Seems possible that Nebraska in the central time zone could start a game at 9pm or later. Tuesday, December 8, 2020 North Carolina at Iowa Illinois at Duke Syracuse at Rutgers Ohio State at Notre Dame Purdue at Miami Boston College at Minnesota Penn State at Virginia Tech Wednesday, December 9, 2020 Louisville at Wisconsin Michigan State at Virginia Indiana at Florida State NC State at Michigan Maryland at Clemson Georgia Tech at Nebraska Pittsburgh at Northwestern View full article

You get 27 games if you participate in a MTE, 25 if you don't. The conference could schedule 25 conference games and we'd still have the bandwidth for 2 more.

We'll cross the bridge of what happens if Bryce McGowens commits and we're over the limit on schollies when we get to it. Guys transferring out leaving us with open scholarships is pretty commonplace, especially for us. Otherwise, in a world where it's a nightmare to keep a roster together because everyone 'wants theirs' we have a guy who by all accounts is a plus for team chemistry, is from Nebraska, and who possesses what has been described as Power 5 D-1 athleticism so there is potential for him to contribute in a meaningful manner. You should consider how fortunate we are to have someone like that at the end of our bench as opposed to pining to jettison whomever happens to occupy the end of our bench at any given time.
-
If he's here Mack is in the rotation and potentially starting. Somewhere past the lack of defense and maturity is elite speed and vision.
-
I would put the announcement of the ACC-B1G matchups in the good news column in terms of the B1G giving blessings for non-con games.
-
To me the current issue seems to be that Kevin Warren probably wasn't the right guy to lead this conference, especially during a pandemic.
-
People tend to overlook how much better the B1G is compared to the Big 12 is on this just in terms of research $$.
-
This seems troubling. The reason you'd schedule more conference games would be because you're going to take away non-con
-
Crystal ball picked Tennessee Chattanooga
-
Almost positive this only applied to the ESPN tourneys in Orlando. Seems the crux of the matter was that all the conferences have different standards for when/if guys should be tested. Our particular tourney is pending on the B1G and I have to think that if the B1G decides that none of its teams can play before a certain date or outside of conference that Nebraska will still host the tourney without our basketball team.

Don't think Bryce is interested in Kentucky

Props to the one guy still not caring to update his Clemson pick in 2019. McGowens was recruited there by Steve Smith who then went to Florida St which is how FSU landed him in the first place. Otherwise Bossi picking Nebraska is pretty good sign. He's been shooting fish in a barrel since moving over from Rivals.

Trey McGowens Eligible for the 2020-21 season
hhcmatt replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I could be wrong but it felt more like the timing of TA signing, in some regards recruiting over him while he's questioning how much of Nebraska's desire to keep him amounts to obligation, seemed like the issue as opposed to some personal gripe with TA. At that point the lineup for 2020-21 when he signed included Mack, Green, Burke, and Allen and where does that leave DW in terms of playing time? The remark about not recruiting freshmen (obviously not accurate) seems to validate this, IMO. Same sort of deal as Samari...coach change/bad timing...move on and hope it works out for everyone. -
This is amazing

That was extremely frustrating because dude didn't even wait until the end of the first semester and then 2 games later Jervay gets suspended for two games and there is an opportunity. Just a really bad timing sort of guy...he decommited from Cincy because Cronin left and then goes to Evansville and they replace Walter McCarty with Todd Lickliter the week after het gets there.
