  1. The scoring table was a mess. This is from the official box score ESPN kept getting it wrong because they didn't send a crew to the court. The game was called remotely.
  2. It was Lat, Andre, and Oleg who were ejected.
  3. The sort of game where Thomas Allen spent regulation smoking in the parking lot and scores 5 points
  4. Remarkable to consider that the refs didn't want to insert themselves into the last play of regulation when then had no qualms about it at any other time. Yeah we had chances to win this game that we didn't capitalize on but there is no denying that Verge was fouled and he likely makes one of 2 to win it.
  5. Postgame Notes from UNL *-Tonight was the second 4OT game in program history and the first since Dec. 22, 1979. vs. UAB*-Nebraska had a pair of players go over 20 points for the third time this season (Verge-25 and McGowens-24)*-Nebraska had two players with double-doubles (Verge and Walker). The first time that has occurred since last Dec. 17, 2020 vs. Doane.*-It was Verge’s third double-double of the season and the first career for Walker*-McGowens put up his fourth 20-point game of the season, which is fourth all-time among NU freshma*-Derrick Walker posted his first career double-double with 12 points and a career high 10 rebounds. His previous high was nine against Minnesota last season. Walker also tied his career high with three blocked shots.*-Derrick Walker went 5-8 from the field and is now 30-of-35 from the field in his last five games*-Keisei Tominaga has reached double figures in four of his last five games following his 16 point effort tonight*-Nebraska falls to 5-6 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge

  8. Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-2) at North Carolina State Wolfpack (4-1) ** B1G - ACC Challenge ** Date: Wednesday, Dec 1, 2021 Time: 6:15 pm Arena: PNC Arena Broadcast: ESPNU NC State Info Head Coach: Kevin Keats Location: Raleigh, NC Conference: ACC Nickname: Wolfpack Mascots: Mr. Wuf & Mrs. Wuf Rotation Depth: 8+ Last Game: Win over Louisiana Tech KenPom: 61 Line: NC State by 6.5 Other: First ever meeting between NC State and Nebraska NC State lost starting center and defensive anchor Manny Bates in the first game of the season. Bates had led the ACC in blocks his first two seasons Providence transfer Greg Gantt has been out with a hernia issue and isn't expected to make his season debut tonight. Thomas Allen is still at NC State. Will he play? After an injury filled 2020-21 season, he started off the year with a one game suspension for playing in an unsanctioned summer league. Allen has scored 10 total points this season and didn't play in NC State's last game vs Louisiana Tech Player to watch: Dereon Seabron On a team with a lot of talented players, Seabron is leading the Wolfpack in scoring and rebounding. Seabron does it all inside the arc, a career 20% 3pt shooter. He also gets plenty of offensive rebounds so Nebraska will need to keep a body on him when the ball goes up. Player to watch: Jericole Hellems Sometimes it feels like we see a lot of players best games here at Nebraska. Well, Jericole Hellems just put up his highest scoring game of his career with 31 points behind 6-8 3pt shooting. The Wolfpack's leading returning scorer from last year will be front and center on the scouting report. Possible Wolfpack Starters 3 Cam Hayes G So. 6-3 180 Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day School 4 Jericole Hellems F Sr. 6-7 200 St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade 14 Casey Morsell G Jr. 6-3 200 Ft. A good defender, Hayes has been pretty cold from outside to start the season. Virginia transfer Casey Morsell is the sort of rangy 3pt shooter/defender that Keats recruits. Highly regarded true freshman Terquavion Smith plays a lot of minutes and is an aggressive combo guard. The Wolfpack has Ebenezer Dowuona and Jaylon Gibson in a rotation at the center position. Their both rim protector types who don't bring much offensively and can be foul prone. Frosh Ernest Ross has a lot of potential at forward but has been used sparingly at forward. Same deal for frosh guard Breon Pass. Will we see Thomas Allen tonight? It's not a deep roster so foul trouble could mean more minutes from guys who normally don't get them. UNL Game Notes Probable starters for Nebraska 1 Alonzo Verge G 6-3 5 Bryce McGowens G 6-7 23 Keon Edwards G 6-7 11 Lat Mayen F 6-9 13 Derrick Walker F 6-9 Bench 32 Wilhelm Breidenbach F 6-10 30 Keisei Tominaga G 6-2 0 C.J. Wilcher G 6-5 35 Eduardo Andre F 6-11 10 Kobe Webster G 6-0 14 Trevor Lakes F 6-8 3 Quaran McPherson G 6-3 33 Oleg Kojenets F 7-0 4 Jackson Cronin G 6-1 12 Sam Hoiberg G 6-0 15 Chris McGraw G 6-0 21 Jace Piatkowski G 6-3 The Skinny: The Huskers made it through the formative portion of their schedule in underwhelming fashion and now it's time to run the gauntlet with games vs NC State, Indiana, Michigan, Auburn, and Kansas St. Up first, a middle of the ACC pack Wolfpack squad will give Nebraska its first true road game of the season. It will also give Fred Hoiberg a shot at winning just his second road here at Nebraska. If the journey to relevance begins with a first step, one has to wonder when or if that will occur with Hoiberg's rotating collection of Rival's Star™ players. Now that expectations have been properly lowered, what does a win for Nebraska look like? Defense tends to travel so Nebraska being able to properly protect the paint without overcommitting to give State numerous wide open 3s is #1 on the list. The Wolfpack are a decent outside shooting team but offensively they're geared towards pick and rolling into the paint. Turn them into a jump shooting team lads, but don't triple team these backup centers as part of the process. Offensively Nebraska needs to navigate against constant ball pressure that NC State will turn into easy baskets or bad shots. This might be a game where you really miss Trey McGowens' experience but thus far the 2021-22 Huskers have the sort of handles one might expect from a Fred Hoiberg team. Once you get past the initial pressure there should be plenty of good looks to be found. This is a NC State team that will give you the game but the same can be said for this Nebraska team. Look for a close game where both teams go on hot and cold runs to delight and enrage fans of both clubs. Prediction: NC State 73 - Nebraska 66 View full article

  10. I bet there will be a decent amount of purple here for that Kansas St game. Better win that or they'll power cat us out of the building.
  11. It would seem that if it's ok for Nebraska, a Scarlett and Cream school, to roll out black uniforms that there is absolutely a literal grey area that should be just fine. To me the takeaway is that the AD department certainly wasn't cohesive during the Bill Moos era and to what level will Trev Alberts organize it?
  12. Watched the end of the Syracuse-Indiana game. Picked the wrong night to give up on that Ohio St-Duke game and go to bed
  13. The impression that I got was that zone was a different look for a team on a run that they want to slow down The impression that I got from Hoiberg was that he wants to use zone situationally, to stop teams that have some momentum. Given our problems giving up the 3 and that a zone is a questionable fix for that particular problem plus the fact no one is hurting us much inside, there probably hasn't been much need. We do zone on some inbound plays before switching to match up.
  14. Here is their game vs Okie St
  15. I think that even if he is a true pg we have to look at bringing in another ball handler depending on who we bring back because it would be just him and McPherson right now. Just think about where we'd be with Trey going down if we didn't have Kobe to pair with Verge or if we would have just rolled with Trey and Kobe. Looks like we're still in on Avery Brown.
  16. Good show, you have to fast forward to the second hour Fielded a question about his philosophy on securing offensive rebounds vs getting back on defense and gave a fairly thorough answer. Boils down to where you are on the court and in some cases the opponent. NC State is a team that gets out in transition so expect Nebraska to pull back more than usual. Trey McGowens still on the 6-8 week timeline Lat had back issues throughout the off-season. Hoiberg thinks he'll get it going soon Nebraska has a sports scientist that travels with them. They'll see where the guys are on jump tests and then determine if they'll train harder or easier. Someone texted in to see if Hoiberg could help him with ideas about what do about shin splints Talked about giving up too many 3s. Have worked on zone and will throw it out at some point, still trying to get the man stuff down Looks like we have Quaran, Oleg, and Jack Hoiberg redshirting unless the injury bug hits Notes Nate Loenser's player development skills Blaise Keita will help down low - #1 rated juco player Ramel Lloyd, combo guard, versatile player Denim Dawson - throwback player, plays defense, athletic, will be enrolled next month Jamarques Lawrence - can shoot/score As a HS kid Fred visited Arizona and Stanford before ultimately choosing Iowa St. Had an in-home visit with Danny Nee Fielded a call about academics NC State: will pressure for 40 minutes and push in transition
  17. The things i noticed were that - he didn't really come off the court for one of the more loaded hs basketball teams in the country - didn't appear to be the primary ball handler though at points brought the ball up the court - ball didn't stick much in his hands - can score from all 3 levels - seemed to make good basketball plays. Bronny James (20) seemed more like he was hero balling it out there Feels like a stretch to call Lloyd a PG. I think he's more of a combo guard but maybe that's more of what we're looking for anyway.
  18. I don't think it's impossible that he could be either the primary backup or starting PG next year. I think he could be like Iowa's Joe Toussaint for us.
  19. Doesn't look like Jace Piatkowski has played a minute yet this year though he has already redshirted
  20. Yup, hit up the text line. I should have worded it better for a more thorough answer but I think we can assume that any guys that haven't played will red shirt unless we are hit with more injuries. I think that's just Oleg and McPherson for scholarship players and Jack for walk ons
  21. Let's see how he does against good teams
