One big difference between here and Iowa St is that Matt A didn't have complete control of the roster. I'm not sure how you change that dynamic other than completely removing him from the equation. If Fred is back for a 4th year, *that* at least would be a change from the last 3 years.

Nebraska (6-10) vs. Illinois (11-3) game thread

Illinois led by Kofi Cockburn is the #1 off reb% team in KenPom. They're also the 16th best 3pt shooting team in Div-1 You picking death or bunga-bunga in this one @HB? -
Eddie Jordan's last year they hit 279. Losing by 15 to Nebraska seemed to increase that ranking as they were 290 coming into that game.
-
Eddie Jordan won 29 games in 3 years at Rutgers. Hoiberg is at 20.
-
That's the Hoiberg rub though....it's not all that hard to imagine our record at 11-5 right now with our current roster if this was a better run organization.
-
Hoiberg Extension Here's that one year extension Fred got in June of 2020 that seems like exhibit H in the case of how letting our human ATM of an AD go was a cost savings move.

If I was Vegas taking bets on the future of FH I'd say 1/2 - retained 1/5 - resigned 1/6 - fired If I was gambling then I'd bet on resigned because I think it's 50/50 he resigns

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 14; ed 16 - at Rutgers

While I agree that 2019-20 would have been a bad year under Miles he likely could have found 1-2 guys to go with Burke and Green to reach the extremely low bar of double digit wins. We view Green as a whiff but his life is possibly very different if he'd spent that season being used as a hard-nosed defensive focused combo guard as opposed to a human 'i've made a huge mistake' gif -

Chris Mullen spent his time at St Johns doing crossword puzzles on the sidelines and still had the sort of mediocre success that would get Hoiberg to a 4th year -

For the amount of money we spent on Hoiberg and Frost we could have just bought Iowa St University -

Walker is in year 3. Has anyone else been here that long? Hard to definitely say if we're good or not at development in this revolving door program. -

You read Chicago bulls writings from the Fred Hoiberg era and the ISU stuff is the outlier, not the standard. Part of the problem with the hire was the assumption that Fred would know how to run a program because he had 'done it before' whereas his success at ISU probably had a lot to do with the systems and culture already in place. We had a 'pay the AD to leave' situation. -

All power 5 teams have guys that are taking advantage of NIL. Trey is injured and we don't put Bryce into a great position to succeed. Red herring argument imo. -

Nice reward for those of us who suck around. He doesn't really *do* anything but one thing he does have going for him is that he's not the other guys. -

At this point we might just want to put Walker back in his protective carrying case until the next game -
