uneblinstu's post game chatter: ed 6, vol 27 - Purdue
bobcat402 replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
- Benny Parker may not win Game MVP but his play Raised us up, and demoralized Purdue. - Shavon and Terran and gelling right now, and its beautiful they are starting compliment each other so well. - We didnt need it, but id still like to see Pitch intiate more dribble drive action on other big men. - Hammonds, looked just absolutly disinterested in being in Lincoln, NE; having the same temprament, and passion for basketball as Andrew Bynum is not a good thing. -Liked Hawkins stroke, and aggresiveness, he, and Benny's performance play neutralized Tai fould trouble. - I love our confidence right now, continue it next week boys! -
... the lakers, and 76ers can use some help scoring right now..

is this suppose to be something? That is where you and I disagree very much, It gives us CONTROL of our Schedule. We gave up to much CONTROL by playing a tourney like the SCC. It was to much to early. We Played Western ILL who went to the SBI, so your point is moot. We play them there and we still have CONTROL of our schedule. Lets make a mock bracket, We won against Western ILL. UTEP played Denver in the championship and won. Ok we play UTEP in the Championship. I think we win that. We are the Champions of the SBI. A title and something to build on. I think the DHC is the right tournament for this team next year. Control of our non-con is the KEY to the BIG dance If recruiting were the only incentive then you have a point, but I think we have more to offer, Winnable match ups againt a team with a tough conference schedule on TV? that is what we offer. Come on we do this when we look for match ups. It works in reverse. All you have to do go to CBSsports.com com and look at the teams that made it the last 3 or 4 years as invites. Look at the pattern. We follow that and we get in. That is what I am basing my arguments on. STOP QUOTING IN THE QUOTE MARGIN!

i gotta agree...after the MSU game i was happy, but for the first time i wasn't on pins and needles all game thinking we'd blow it, and i wasn't surprised we won, this team has a different kind of swagger to it this year, you see it in how Parker plays this season, how pitch, shields, rivers handle themselves on the court, the im gonna make it and bury the dagger attitude from Terran, even though he isn't making shots and doing a lot, Tai seems to have that mindset right now, that im on the court doesn't look terrified. -
lets just chant runza pregame...put the idea in the players and miles head
-
hes the opposite of that Dbag from purdue last year...i mean we have brobasketball this year...but nothing compared to having andre.
-
he looked like that foreign dude that is just fun, like no matter what happens during the night.....its gonna be a blast
-
i miss andre...i wish we could just keep him around on staff, to brighten our days...whats he up to.
-
i can really envision the backcourt being a blend of petteway, tai, and dickerson (if he comes here) id like that, and throw in benny when we need a change of pace with Trey, for that ultra quick attack could be some nice matchups next year. Tai should be bigger next year which will help his game in the paint, id like to see Tai come ready to ball next season at around 215...ala.. Jeter
-
i think this will be one of the most interesting off seasons in quite awhile, if nebraska finish strong a lot of these prospects were in on, will actually give us a strong consideration (i.e. Bryant Crawford), but what do we do with Tai, we know the dude has a 3 point shot, and call ball, he did on the world stage, as a 18 year old, so how does one build confindence in the offseaon, when clearly that is a thing usally gained in season, is Trey a 2 guard morso than point, cuz that could work out, and keep utilizing Terran at the 3, and Shields at the 4 with a rotation of Pitchford, Smith, and Hammond fighting for center mintues, and a really deep bench for the first time in years...or does he fill the role Biggs was meant to fill the ultra sparkplug of the bench...lots of good questions right now.

BIG FLIPPIN WIN!

Don't have time to research it, but I'd question your statement in bold above. How are we "hamstrung" this year being one player short? If our roster is so thin, we shouldn't have red-shirted Fuller. The truth is, we have plenty of players fighting for minutes in the rotation, even with Biggs off the team. Springtime, it seems to me, is a time when lots of schools start chasing down a handful of average players to meet a dire short-term need. I watched Tummala on the bench last night for ASU. That seemed to be a "must have" for us back in March. He hasn't played in the last 5 games. We all know how disappointed we were when Atewe didn't sign. I don't feel too bad about that one now. I have to credit Miles for making a nice pickup last spring with Leslee Smith. But we desperately needed someone with some muscle underneath going into this year. I would argue we are a little less thin at all positions going into next year. Hey, I have no problem signing Dickerson, Atwood or Deng this spring. I don't want to see our roster with less than 12. I'm glad the staff is out shaking the bushes for a last minute transfer or de-commit. Just don't sign someone who isn't going to make you better at a position than you are already. We are past the point where we just need to sign a warm body. I look at hamstrung as the fact Miles didn't sign any of the juco players committed in year one to save for year two. He didn't find someone he liked in year two so he saved it for year three's recruiting cycle. Well if he doesn't fill the spots he has again this spring that means we will have gone three cycles basically playing under self-imposed scholarship ban. Just think how Alihodzic or Coleman could give us a presence in the middle for a few minutes or more per game this year and would still have opened up the scholarship this spring. I mean we didn't use the spot for either year so even if they hadn't panned out we still would be in the same spot we are today with the scholarships. I truly feel you NEED to fill them all this year, and like I said if you don't get quality at least get a one year transfer, just to have even a couple minutes or even a better practice player on the team. One year is ok, 2 isn't good, but three years without filling a spot is just hurting yourself when you could've been developing someone or had a 1-2 year guy fill in during that time. i dont know his stats, but Coleman would of at least helped and spell leslee now, with his knees

I suppose it's about the overall goal. The only point of saying/doing anything during the other team's introduction is to disrupt it. The student section can do something off the wall and it will make a dent in the noise/process. If you want the entire stadium to get into it, which would be the only way to drown out a soundsystem, it needs to be something they're used to cheering. Especially since PA Announcer, Doc Winininger thinks he needs to be enthusiastic about visiting team introductions. Nice guy, but he needs to remember that it isn't the State Tournament. DOC called out my name incorrectly during my freshmen year at Peru State...during a game which i was not even playing due to have a broken ankle....Sean is pronounced how it sounds Doc the incorrect version he used was (seen)

H: 4-1 A: 0-5 N: 0-1 now look at the top 25 Yes, I understand how to compare and contrast. I fail to see how this warrants another topic when it's pretty much the only thing we've been discussing. Also when replying use the space UNDER the quoted region or else it looks like you're quoting me talking to myself. YOU MEAN DON'T DO THIS BUT, do it like this. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. I hate you a little less now. THIS ^^^ has made my day.

why fix a good thing? does Alabama fix Roll Tide? or does KU fix rock chalk..Husker Power, is a much a great tradition as the tunnel walk, GO BIG RED chants. Plus its simple, easy, and the it breaks even for crowd support people can pick up quick, and it isnt to much of a hassle. Plus the "older" crowd will join in I would think. That is probably true but in my opinion, that is some of the problem with NU "traditions" is that they are geared towards the older crowd. That's becuase there are more of them that come to games than the younger ones. That is kind of one of our "problems" im 25, i was with my 36 year old brother, and my 16, 11 year old nephews...Husker Power chant comes on they know what to do...just saying its a staple, it makes sense, it spans across all sports not just football.

We need our own thing, and husker power isn't the thing. The one thing that bugs me the most is when people try to overlap stuff we do for football into basketball stuff. Sure, we can do husker power during some part of the game, but not the introduction. ....we are a school that has a rich tradition in football...i guarantee you if you go to a Michigan (a successful school with Basketball/Football) they do real similar stuff to football. If you want a stadium chant as dimes said its needs to be 1)common knowledge 2) easy to chant in a repetitive nature 3)have some connection to school or else it is corny and will be forgotten 4) a chant that is clear and can be heard, i was at the game i couldn't even make out the chant they were using. Husker Power is recognizable and easy to hear.

well right now, its this guy or Link...i kind of like this guy better, plus would get him, and his teammate..idk we just need a defensive center, who board, and protect the rim, and give us 4-6 pts per game id be happy with that

That is a cop out. we weren't going to win that tournament. It was the wrong tourney for this team. how is it a cop out? the entire landscape of college basketball was affected for the first two months due to the changes, the game UMASS last 3 hours for goodness sake, there was 90 combined fouls, 6 of are ten players available had either 4 fouls or fouled out in the course of that game, the UAB game wasnt any better.
