uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 14; ed 16 - at Rutgers
Jugular replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
A coach that actually has a plan when it comes to running an offense and building a roster? -
I think he played his first game the other night
-
My favorite Ryan Anderson moment was when he tested the waters of the draft.
-
I would’ve rather had 3-star Chucky Hepburn
-
What difference does this make currently? Tim hasn’t been here for a few seasons. This is like football fans still bringing up Pelini
-
Way bigger. Like coaching and recruiting

2022 PG Avery Brown -> Columbia

We’ve needed one every season but we continue to not prioritize it. -
uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 14; ed 3 - vs. Creighton
Jugular replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
This might be the worst coached team I have ever seen. We have horrible fundamentals, zero teamwork, nobody knows their role and we run a garbage offense. That was a very average Creighton team but they coached circles around us. On top of that, Bryce and Verge’s body language on the bench when we were making our comeback in the first half was pretty poor. Both right now care about only themselves and their stats. It’s too bad Bryce doesn’t have Trey’s mentality. -
I’d argue that our shooting would improve if our passes were more accurate so that our shooters can shoot easier. But when the passes are wild, at the knees, up over their head, etc ii is difficult to catch and shoot in rhythm

2023 SG Parker Friedrichsen -> Wake Forest...for now

You would have to think that yesterday’s game left a pretty good impression -
They actually have the 4th best odds…the lottery is on Tuesday.
-
Video kind of reminds me of Ethan Wragge. Not super athletic but has good size and can shoot from deep with a very quick release.
-
Before. Unfortunate that we didn’t think of having him try the prep school route
-
That’s accurate. One staff member at the time told me emphatically there was no way he’d qualify and would be going JUCO. They obviously did not do enough homework on that one
-
Wonder what kind of relationship he had with Ben Johnson. That might be something to keep an eye on
-
How big is he?

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 13; ed 10 - @ Ohio State
Jugular replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
We’ve now flipped a roster twice. Next year will see even more. At some point we need to look at the coaches as well. Basketball can be turned around quickly. That’s my biggest complaint. But also my biggest hope -

Good info. Do you think he looks less athletic/explosive? I think he looked leaner last season. -

Well, he spoke VERY highly of Lat. He’s struggled terribly since the first couple games. Thor has been rough. I wasn’t expecting much from Shamiel and he’s been somehow less than what I was expecting. Not sure why they let him shoot jump shots. Teddy has been OK, but what did he shoot on FT’s in JC last year...90%? His footwork on his shot seems odd compared to last year’s film too. Hell, he looked leaner and more explosive in JC too. Look at the film...he had an actual JUMPER last year. -

We just really don’t have shooters. Why they let Shamiel even shoot a 3 is beyond me. If I’m betting on a scholarship opening, it’s his. He’s not good. He needs to carve out a role as a defender but doesn’t appear to want to do that. Unless Lat is hitting 3’s, he doesn’t provide much. I think getting Walker back will help Lat. After sitting in on Hoiberg’s zoom chat, I was really hoping for a lot more from this team shooting-wise. I’m sure it can improve, but we’ve seen a pretty good sample now. -
2022 F Isaac Traudt - Virginia->Creighton
Jugular replied to Navin R. Johnson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I said “values” recruiting local kids. Like believes we have the talent in Nebraska to build on. Just because they had a zoom meeting recently does that mean we are putting the full court press on Traudt and are one of a handful of schools that are recruiting him the hardest. Chucky probably fits better at Wisconsin than he does in Lincoln. Wisconsin year in and year out puts out tough teams. We definitely don’t. But getting a kid like that in your program can help build that mindset. Cole Payton had offers if he wanted them. He’s just a throw back. He gave his word and commitment to NDSU. And he doesn’t feel the need to go out on Twitter and publicize everything. Dickerson we kept recruiting (which was smart), but at the time Minnesota completely put more effort into recruiting him than we did. We were still celebrating the 4* kids we got out of Florida that in a few months would all leave. Just because I’m criticizing doesn’t mean everything is bad. They obviously did a great job on Fidone, Teddy and Bretz. I love the Bretz kid. I’m happy to see Fred start to recruit HS kids. I’d love to see Traudt alongside Wilhelm. And yes, John Cook definitely values recruiting local kids. He’s at a completely different level than any coach at NU and it’s not even close. We have the equivalent of an Urban Meyer or Nick Saban coaching our VB team. I’d argue that he’s a top 10 coach in the country in all sports. I was referring to the main three men’s sports though.
