Rhode Island tips off in 10 minutes against Valpo. RI is 1 pt fav going into the game. The loss of Matthews is a big one for them.

Honestly...that sounds about right. I told my friend this weekend I thought the line would be around 17. Would be great to win...but I just want to see us play well against a good team. If we lose but keep it within single digits, is that a moral victory? Or is a loss a loss -- a miss is a good as a mile? I think so, if we can go into Philly and play Nova tough it should give some of our young/new guys a boost of confidence going forward.

Good note...I didn't notice they were such a 3pt happy team. I thought I read something from Miles in regards to this being a concern because of our "pack" style of defense. He said it in his presser after the game. Thanks. Will be interesting to see what the staff comes up with....I'd still rather take the drive away from them and have them beat us with the three ball.

That would be nice...not saying it can't happen because I think we have a favorable schedule. If we can continue to shoot the rock at a solid rate and find a way not to get killed on the boards we should be very competitive.

Glad for Fuller...he didn't look great in the exhibition game and was hoping he would be someone to contribute this year. He's not a terrible athlete but not A+ either...but in the limited time he received last year he appears to be someone who makes up for it with good fundamentals and has a knack for the ball. If he can knock down the outside jumper like he was recruited to do so he should receive major minutes this year.

If I'm being honest with myself....we are likely to lose by double digits...and maybe 20+. Nova is a talanted and experienced team. First road game for a young NU team against one of the better teams in the nation is a recipe for a beatdown IMO. With that said, if if we get beat badly it will be used as a learning experience for the young guys. We also can play well and surprise them...looking forward to seeing what team shows up.

He had a right to be upset but like usual he took it overboard and it cost his team. We saw it every year he was here. Most sane people don't act like that...but I'm not sure Pelini is sane. He clearly has some serious anger issues and it impacts his team.

White...as I think he will be a better player and won't be a headcase. I would have to say Jake over Trueblood and that's probably not close at this point...but I have not seen much of Trueblood. Jake averaged double digits as a freshman. He just wasn't the same after his injury.

I liked what I saw for the most part.....we have a solid core of young guys that have the potential to be really really good. Concerns going forward this year IMO.... 1. Rebounding- Still too much standing around, the numbers weren't terrible but im afraid once we face more athletic teams it's going to be tough sledding for us. 2. Defense- Not all that concerned about our defense really, we have always played tough solid D under Miles....this is probably due to playing alot of young guys but I thought we gave up quite a bit of open looks. Thankfully Northern State was "off" to say the least. Villanova won't be so kind next week 3. 5 man- Going off one game Hammond still doesn't appear to be "ready" for the spotlight. No complaints out of me on Morrow...I think he should be the starter, he will learn how to play D without fouling. He will be a stud 4. 3 point shooting- They didn't really pull the trigger but nothing out of Tai and Parker on that end. If we are going to roll with them as the starters, IMO atleast one of them will need to show they can hit jump shots. White's stroke appears to be as good as advertised...McVeigh I think will help in this department also.
