  1. We play 1 game vs RPI 153 team and a series vs the 217 RPI team....we need a clean sweep for those still thinking this team has a punchers chance at an at large bid. I guess we need to worry about getting to Omaha first...but like I said previously. It's win in Omaha or bust. Blah Blah Blah... honestly just tired of the negativity toward the team and coach. I have just come to realize that you'll just never be pleased. If we lose... its negativity. If we win... it wasn't showy enough... We steal a base... wasn't fast enough... we hit a homer... wasn't far enough. So after reading your posts... I try to say something positive. I guess thats just the type of person that I am though. So I'll continue to stay positive even when things are bad and let what ever happens happen. I like i said before HB 13 doesn't like Erstad etc. I don't like what's he's done with he program(of hasn't done)...that's correct. In your mind you may think he's doing a great job because he was a former great Husker...but the actual results say differently thus far.

From a numbers game at this point anything but a 4-0 week coming up won't be good enough. Feel free to argue and use facts for once. Blah blah blah

  5. Not even close to being competitive this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Really a piss poor effort again today. Pretty much a nail in the at large coffin. Better hope we bring it in Omaha or we will be sitting at home come tournament time once again. At this point, I am hoping we can win enough to make the Big 10 tournament. We were the last team in last year at 9 wins...already at 7. It would take a gigantic Erstad collapse to not make the Big Ten tournament. But weirder things have happened....either way, it's sad that we have to think that way as opposed to talking about at large chances and hosting a regional. Erstad has really done a poor job
  7. Really a piss poor effort again today. Pretty much a nail in the at large coffin. Better hope we bring it in Omaha or we will be sitting at home come tournament time once again. If we fail to win in Omaha...the question that needs to be asked is....making 1 regional in five years good enough? Erstad continues to look like a lackluster hire.
  8. I turned it off....are we chasing pitches if Mich has struggled with the zone? We have only put up 3 runs. Would not surprise me if so...our discipline vs Creighton was horrible.
  9. Well no offense to King...he can be a quality starter some day...maybe, but when he's your Friday night guy you know the HC and pitching coach failed on the recruiting trail.
  10. Here is BoydsWorld RPI needs report. He is kinda been slacking this year unfortunatly...and I'm not sure where he is getting his numbers because he has us with 27 games remaining and 7 neutral games.....not sure if hes factoring in possible Big 10 tournament results? Either way...kind of gives you a glimpse into what needs to be accomplished. We will likely need to be in that top 45 range to be in the at large discussion. 11. That's expected even if they don't transfer. What have people around here said about Benny Parker and Tai Webster? Hell, what were people saying about Aleks Maric? They were always complaining that he would miss "bunnies." How much would we like to have an Aleks Maric now? I would take Jorge Brian Diaz ten times over right now.
  12. He sure ruffled some feathers
  13. That's a good comparison....I'm sure the thought was to help his draft stock and our lack of depth...and I believe he developed another out pitch during the offseason but he just never struck me has a weekend rotation guy in that he has always been wildly effective. He's a guy who can throw gas for 1-2 innings and put up numbers. But, anything more than that his pitch count starts to come into play. Hopefully we can get him back...the back end of the pen will be pretty solid if so.
  14. I wonder if there is something more to the Howell situation? He was really struggling as a starter...IMO he should have never been made a starter but he would have been a key piece to the pen. Hopefully he can make it back before the season ends. Big game tonight, may need the bats to be really hot this weekend. I would not be surprised to see Eddins in the starting rotation this weekend.
  15. No idea how interested we were/are.....but things look pretty bleak on the big man chase unless Miles and the staff is playing it pretty close to the vest. Just not a whole lot of news out there.
  16. I would say that's about right....you could probably make the argument our job is atleast on par with Iowa. But, looks pretty accurate. I would swap Minnesota and Iowa.
  17. I think it's pretty well known our pitching staff is bad. And tough to expect the bats to remain hot all year. But why anyone would expect more out of this program with Erstad running it I don't know. I expect to be an "okay" program until he proves otherwise.I guess I'm suggesting it's more recruiting than anything else. I see a lot of sound baseball decisions. I haven't seen him lose his teams, haven't heard of chemistry problems or lack of motivation. You always make it personal and very biting with Ersty and I'm not going there, other than to acknowledge we're not where any of us would want us to be.Nothing personal outside he had no business getting the job in the first place. That, and he hasn't been getting it done. He has yet to put a complete team together. My hopes was as he gained coaching experience he would adjust to the college game. Has not come to fruition yet.....win the Big Ten or bust this year. Just so we're clear: You're calling your shot. We win the Big 10 (are you talking regular season? Tournament? One of the other, or both?), or Darin should be fired. That's what you've seemed to be saying. Nothing short of a championship this year, and you support Darin being fired. Correct? Heck no I don't think he should be fired if we don't win the Big 10/Make a regional. I don't believe for a second that Erstad is not eventually interested in becoming a MLB manager and IMO, he would likely be a better manager in the pros than he currently is at the college level. I wouldn't panic or shed a tear if this year or in the upcoming years he decided to give it ago at the next level. We haven't tanked under him, the team stays out of trouble so no I don't think his head is or should be on the chopping block. If we fail to make a regional this year though would you not agree that making 1 regional in 5 years as coach is underperforming for this program? I'm not throwing the towel in on this team...they have not looked great the past few weeks but I do think we have enough talent to get it turned around if we some arms can step up. Like I said, the Big Ten is just so so this year....we can still win every single series from here on out. And if we dont, I still think we should be the favorite in Omaha considering it will be a familiar park for the team and it will be full of red. FYI, winning the regular season would be great, but I don't know if that guarentees us an at-large if we don't win in Omaha. OK, I was just basing my post on your statement "Win the Big 10 or bust this year". And your statement that if we don't make a regional this year "hopefully" quite a few major league jobs open up--implying if not directly stating you would want him gone. He has wanted him gone, since he got the job. Nah, I know you like to speak for me but once he was hired I was willing to give him a chance because we were stuck with him at that point. I certainly didnt think he should have been the number 1 choice but thanks to some backwards thinking he ended up being #1. Unfortunately...thus far he has proven to be a mediocre hire. Only hope is that he continues to develop as a coach over time...or, he jumps ship to the MLB.
  18. Can't imagine he's high on our list...I don't know...if it comes down to it is taking him better than carrying over a scholorship? Worst case if it doesn't work out he transfers next year.

I wasn't speaking in terms of Big 10 or bust in terms of Erstad's job status at NU...more along the lines of it appears we will need to win the Big 10 tournament to make a regional. That may chage in the upcoming weeks but with where our SOS and RPI stand right now we have quite a bit of work to do.
  20. To make it clear...I don't think they are on the hot seat either. And I'm not even sure they should be. Also, is the team improved this year? We might be able to answer that by the end of the year....from an offensive production it would appear that way...but pitching has taken a big step back. Mostly do to lack of development in some key pieces and having to rely on some youngsters. The Big 10 is not nearly as good this year than it was last year though...our SOS right now is 164 so this team has played a pretty weak schedule up to this point. I don't know what our SOS was at last year around this team but it finished at 50 and we were mid 20's RPI wise this time last year. Right now our RPI is #81. With that said, win the Mich series and the Mich St series and we may be able to talk at-large again. It's really unfortunate Purdue and NW fell onto our schedule this year as those two series despite going 5-1 are really dragging us down.

Has not come to fruition yet.....win the Big Ten or bust this year. Man... did Erstad piss in your fruit loops as a kid or what? You take every loss and turn it into a win it all or bust post, its all on Erstad because he can't coach, and hope he leaves for another opportunity..... and every win you even find something negative to say about the guy. No one is happy with the recent weeks, but your constant Erstad bashing is baffling. Proof of the "negative" comments about Erstad even during wins? Never said he can't coach....we have not been terrible under him, merely very average. Different things plague us every year...and that's what's baffling. And yes, if we continue to fail to take the next step I hope he moves on. The Big Ten is not some juggernaut so there is still some time to get this turned around but we are going to have to see some dramatic improvement out of our rotation....starting Friday hopefully. And I do believe it's win in Omaha or bust this year...it will be Husker home games and there is no Indiana in the league this year. There is no better time to bring some hardware home. I think our ultimate goal should be to win and host regionals every so often but winning the Big Ten would at the very least give us some positive momentum. Even with our pitching woes I would like to think we will be the favorite come May.

  25. We will have to go on a serious run to be in the discussion. It's very likely it will come down to the Big Ten tournament. If we fail to make a regional this year hopefully quite a few MLB jobs open up.
