  1. Wow Dana Altman is leaving scholarships open? I know you are joking but....I would be surprised if he has done so 5 years in a row. Either way, nobody would probably say a peep about not utilizing scholarships if we were coming off an elite 8 run as opposed to two losing seasons. Actually, he has. At least one, sometimes two (or more!) each year. Sometimes one will go to a walk-on. That definitely surprises me if he has done so...but I would say Oregon has more leeway in that they have the ability to consistently bring in top talent. We have been able to sign some nice talent recently but where we stand as a program I don't think we can count on that every year. We are going to need to find some under the radar talent and develop that said talent. That's when signing that 13th kid may come in handy. There may be some times when having that open scholarship late comes in handy....almost worked for us this year. And it almost worked for us last year when Elijah Thomas visited. Perhaps a transfer will become available this year that we are interested in midseason.

  3. FYP. In all serious, we got in early on Jericho and obviously really liked him. But when the big boys started to come calling I think it was pretty clear we didn't have a shot. The good news is we have a couple PG visits coming up and that's a position of need. Hopefully we can land Stewart or Allen.
  4. Shaka is going to do big things there unfortunately.
  5. Part of that will depend on the game plan and what they ask him to do. I hope they run the hell out of him. Obviously if he gets hurt we are probably in trouble but I think they should unleash him. Also, I think Newby/Ozigbo are going to turn out to be a pretty darn good 1/2 punch this year. We shall see
  6. No team goes 13 deep. There's 1. This is true but obviously finding an additional guy increases your chances of landing someone who can help you in your 8-10 man rotation. Or, landing a kid that you develop for down the road. There is no real good argument for going on 5 years without filling out a roster...especially for a program that has to work extra hard on the recruiting trail to compete with the big boys. Does anyone really believe that always keeping the 13 scholarship open is say better than offering and signing a kid like Khyri Thomas? Perhaps this is the year someone comes available midyear and we snatch him. It almost worked out for us with Elijah Thomas.
  7. It's not guaranteed that we leave Arop's spot open. Have a long ways to go before fall 2017. I believe another 2017 offer was just announced today. Tim Miles would be wise to fill out the roster for once next year....not signing a local kid and leaving an open scholarship will garner quite a bit of backlash I would guess.
  8. I am having the opposite feeling on this I was told it's a done deal that he's N. Not sure what the hold up is though...... Well, you were told wrong. Meh, I trust my source...it was the same source who confirmed White was visiting over the weekend a day before it was actually announced. Obviously, something changed White's mind or ours the last few days.
  9. Interesting...our decision? Would have liked to have him..but he's not really at a position of need. Either way...it looks like for the fifth straight year Miles will fail to fill out the roster.

  11. We have some talent to work with at some positions but...I'm afraid our downfall will be 1. TA is still at QB. He will continue to make some plays....but his turnovers will lose us games. 2. Little depth on both lines.....we can't afford any more injuries to the Oline and until we can generate a pass rush we will have issues on defense. I look forward to the season but I'm thinking our cap will be 8-9 wins.
  12. My question is outside of Bruce Chubbick Sr and certain media, are the people directly involved with this truly upset/angered at Miles for this or more just disappointed? Is Arop himself pissed off at Miles or is he more upset/disappointed with the circumstances? They're pissed. Really pissed. The Omaha AAU community is pissed, Chubick and HS coaches are pissed and the Sudanese community is really pissed. How often do you think Chauncy Billips goes on local talk shows? As Benning said yesterday (and his kid is in the AAU scene, so he would know), "Miles may never recover (in terms of recruiting) from the Omaha metro over this." Chubick, who obviously has long ties to the Nebraska program, said all "bridges have been burned" as far as he is concerned. Why are people responding to this troll? He is the same obsessed troll that has been around for years. Tom, get a life. For a guy who hates NU so much you sure do spend a lot of timing worrying about us!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I hope people don't misinterpret this as miles pulling his scholarship. miles simply gave aguek an honest evaluation, and i don't think aguek liked it. aguek is better suited at a lower d1 school where he can get a chance to play.as nice as it would be to have local kids on the team, i would rather have top 150 guys. Let's be real...this is likely Miles saying Aguek is not worthy of a scholarship. He may have not developed in the past few years who knows. . He's essentially pulling a local kids scholarship from what I hear. But, it may be for the best for the program. I don't think think offensively Arop is a high major prospect at this time. 14. To be the new beat writer for Creighton of all teams That would be hilarious considering how often Krayton fans cry about LJS journalist being so biased towards NU.
  15. Rumor is White is visiting this weekend. Would be a nice get for us Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Doubtful as I see the basketball team only winning between 14-16 games.
  17. Miles hates it when people bring up Nebraska’s lackluster history in basketball. “You save that baggage for you,” Miles said. “Don’t put that crap on me, all right? This is my program and we don’t carry any baggage. Everywhere we’ve been, we’ve been surrounded by great people and we win. And we’re gonna keep doing it. “So all of that curse crap, all of the hexing and vexing, all of that bulls--t that goes with it is exactly that. And you can print it.” Again, nowhere in my previous message did I bag on any past classes. In fact, outside of leaving a scholarship open...every...single...year this staff has done a pretty damn good job in the recruiting department. Probably as good as we could ask for. I was strictly talking about this years class and what's currently on the board. Like I said...it's nice we can be so selective because we only have 1 ship available for next year...but also concerning that we don't seem to be gaining much attention from some of the guys we have offered. We have Parker Stewart coming in on a visit...hopefully we can land him. Unfortunately, I don't think we are getting Jericho Sims despite the effort we have put in. Would love to be wrong though. I guess the part where you said "not going to panic yet" is what's bothering people, as if reaching "panic" level is imminent. We're actually probably set for a while (barring a rash of transfers out of the program) with the roster we have. "Panic" is quite a long ways off, IMO, and it seems like a bit of unnecessary hyperbole. That's all I'm saying. Don't take it personal. You are probably. Looking at our roster we are pretty set assuming no major transfers. Our staff may very well have someone like Parker Stewart at the top of their board. Hopefully he makes his visit and we lock him up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Nowhere in my post did I mention previous classes or the current talent on the roster. I was strictly talking about the prospects we are in on for this years recruiting class. Maybe its not fair to expect to land top 100/150 talent each year at this program...I don't know. But my concern is that recruits have taken notice of our recent struggles and we aren't getting as many to bite as we have in years past.
  20. And another one bites the dust. Not going to panic yet but it doesn't appear we are getting much interest from prospects around the country. This is probably just poor wording on your part but the reason you're posting here is because this prospect expressed interest in our program and we didn't land him. As we only sent out one subtweet like above it seems to me that we knew that Batts was nailing things down soon (which also indicates his interest level in us) At the end of the day I see I guy from the East Coast picking between 2 East Coast schools. I hope overall we didn't invest too much time to figure that out. I should have added "highly" rated prospects. According to 247 we have offered 27 high school prospects for this class....we have one commitment from that group and 14 others have either committed elsewhere or are no longer considering us. We have Parker Stewart maybe coming in for a visit next month, Nana Ankenton has already visited, as did Jericho Sims. Although, some think Sims is destined for Texas. I guess if we want to be we can be pretty selective considering we only have 1 scholarship available for next year...although, I'm sure 1 or 2 more may become available. Hopefully we can get a few more visits lined up before the signing period.

  22. Yes, Not sure how that would look after the big splash of seeking his commitment during an in-home two years ago; And doesn't he have a younger brother coming along who is also reported to be a good BB recruit? I believe I read somewhere along the way that Chang enjoyed playing with Aguek. Yeah...Miles hasn't been able to fill out a roster since he stepped foot in campus. Can't imagine we are in the position to be cutting recruits loose. Give me Arop over an unused scholarship.
  23. Matt Perrault made a few visits to the Dungeon. That was fun And for a blast from the past.......tip, you will have to remember your old user name and password http://huskerhoopscentral.activeboard.com/t25226432/reel-this-dude-in-guys/?page=1&sort=oldestFirst
