  1. Yep. I think the thought was Childress was going to eventually head South so Anderson was given the job. Erstad had no business getting the job that's for certain. Why Osborne thought it was a bright idea hiring a guy who absolutely no experience in coaching I don't know.
  2. No, didn't get a chance to watch tonight. I tried to catch every Husker game back in the day but Erstads brand of ball is just boring and ugly at times. Surprising from a guy who played balls to the wall.
  3. Erstad's talks about a quick start this season really panned out.
  4. All comes back to recruiting. You recruit minimal speed and minimal power you are going to struggle to score runs against good teams. Don't need both. Going to have to feast on the Big Ten this year if we can. Even that hasn't been easy for Erstad.
  5. Erstad is going to have to use the "it's on me" earlier than normal this year. Unfortunately, this is what you get when you have a HC who really does not enjoy recruiting. The offense we continue to roll out year after year is just meh. Another example of throwing out anything you hear in the introduction press conference. Erstads "hell on the base paths" has gone the way of GATA ball and baseline to baseline.
  6. So we didn't have comments like the below on this board? " Not sad about any of the guys who left outside of AWIII but think his leaving could be a blessing. Forces more of a team game and Andrew will be so focused on showing a certain skill to the NBA he might not be ideal moving forward for a team and growth." That's just one comment. There was plenty of chatter centered around how White was selfish, we will play better team ball etc......Including, many talks about how is replaceable this year. A lot of that was just sour grapes from him leaving us in the dust. Hell, I don't remember but I was probably part of that discussion. Part of me thought MAYBE this team would benefit by not having one guy trying to jack up shots. But, I was wrong in that once again our offense was dependent on two guys being 'on." My 20+ winner and in the 4-5 seed range was clearly in response to you asking what Minnesota's record is. By that, I thought you were saying we COULD be the Minnesota next year. It's probably way too early to define expectations next year as we don't even know if Miles will be the coach here or who is coming and going.
  7. I was listening to the pregame yesterday and Miles talked about how Tai was down because we have been losing so much...and he told him "Hey, I could have scheduled more wins, this schedule was designed to be a 5-6 seed at 18-19 wins." He's right...we could have scheduled more wins for sure and probably been around .500 right now overall. But, we need to find a way to win 10-11 games in the Big Ten next year if we really want to be dancing. I think we have enough talent to be in that ballpark, but after three years of the same issues I'm having a hard time believing it will be corrected in the offseason by just adding our transfers + Nana.
  8. Sorry, but this is a cop out...unless are talking about mental fatigue? If this team is struggling on the floor due to the type of minutes they are playing then it's a strength and conditioning issue. But, I have a hard team believing that as I feel our strength staff does a great job. Below are the amount of minutes year to date for NU and Minnesota. The team that probably would have won by 30 had they left their starters in sure didn't look to be having issues with fatigue yet they have 4 guys with over 800 minutes and we have 2. Top 8 for minutes-Nebraska Tai Webster- 1003 GWJR- 907 Jacobson- 714 Taylor-702 McVeigh-644 Morrow-516 Roby-415 Jordy-359 Top 8 for minutes- Minnesota Mason- 1027 Coffey-952 Murphy-833 McBrayer-819 Springs-718 Lynch-651 Curry-595 Konate-299
  9. So if Miles is around next year is the expectation for this team to be a 20+ winner and in the 4-5 seed range come tournament? Sure, maybe we could pull a Minnesota.....but, it's probably unlikely. Before the season started it this team might be better without White, Miles deepest team, a team due to its youth will get better and better as the season goes on. Yet...here we are, 11-17 against D-1 competition.
  10. Was Lee B's article the kiss of death? The last three outcomes is exactly why you say no comment if you are the AD.
  11. I don't disagree on Boehm...but firing him is not going to bring more wins next year. But you're right...he should have zero in the coaching search when/if Miles is let go or leaves.
  12. I don't see how Palmer and Copeland will fix our normal offensive and defensive issues under Miles...but maybe. I think it's become pretty evident our issues run deeper than just personnel.
  13. Funny, us poor Husker fans were delusional enough to believe early on when the poor play was displayed that "nobody is going to want to play this team at the end of the year." But, since our magical second half run in year two we have gone 5-21 in the second half of Big Ten play. 5-21!
  14. I was actually thinking the exact opposite. Obviously it's dependent on matchups but Minnesota is a long athletic team that I would guess most teams would not want to see coke March. But, that's just my Take watching a few of their games. I also could be swayed as they are currently putting a beatdown on a bad basketball team.
  15. It would be sooooo like the big bad meanie Eichorst to give Miles the Lane Kiffen treatment on the tarmac tonight.
  16. So glad we hired a defensive specialist like Molinari.
  17. Another laugher for Nebrasketball playing on espn.
  18. 8 returning scorers...they lose Lumkpin and Taphorn who combine provide them 39 minutes a game. Both are solid role players but NW returns Mcintosh, Lindsey, Law, and Pardon who makes them what they are right now.
  19. If everybody stays...Northwestern returns 85% of its scoring for next years team. Must be nice
  20. He may be talking out of his arse...I don't know. But let's say he doesn't like Miles and doesn't believe he's the right fit...are people expecting him to come out and say that right now? Or do you remain quiet? And if he remains quiet...people are all up in arms. And if he does come out and publically support Miles people claim it's a lie. And don't mistake me for some Eichorst fan boy, I really don't know enough about him but I just don't know what else he could do in this situation. I will say I believe a lot of the speculation stems from what transpired in the offseason and IF we just end up extending Miles at years end then Eichorst should get some grief for adding fuel to the fire.
  21. No public support? What exactly are you looking for Eichorst to come out and say? Also, in one sentence you say it's bad his "sniffing around practice" and in the next you say he's not visual enough around the coaches/team. Damned if you do, damned if you don't type of deal? "(Miles) has done a terrific job managing our program," Eichorst said. Q: Let's switch gears to basketball. What do you want to see from the Nebraska men's team the rest of the season that would show you satisfactory progress? Eichorst: "Continued growth. They've really worked hard. Tim (Miles) has worked his tail off. He's got a great group of assistants around him. I really like the nucleus — the young nucleus. Obviously, I think he would want them to be a little bit further along. But they've played a really good schedule up to this point. No one's making any excuses. We will never do that. I just think we want to see improvement." Q: So, you gauge it by what you see? Eichorst: "I think that's right. And I think we just need to have reasonable expectations around it, and support. We'll kind of dissect it all at the end. We're in the middle. The Big Ten's a formidable league. I know this: The effort's been there. The preparation's been there from what I've seen in practice. And we've had some guys dinged up. Again, there are no excuses there, but you have to take that into consideration as you look at the whole thing. "I'm very, very optimistic about where we're at." Q: Is there anything to read into you deciding not to extend Miles' contract after last season? Eichorst: "It's a fair question. He doesn't read into it. I haven't read into it. I think Tim and I come from the same backgrounds. He comes from a small town, I come from a small town. He worked himself up through the ranks, I worked myself up through the ranks. "We're not working for contracts. We're trying to do the right thing, and we're trying to be successful and represent the institution the right way. We know when all of that comes together we'll win ballgames. He's a winner. He's won every place he's been, and I'd like to think I've had success every place I've been. Tim and I see life the same way, and I think we see basketball the same way. "We'll just keep working hard."
  22. Maybe I missed it but I didn't hear anything mentioned about Miles bolting at years end in that segment.
  23. Yep. His status will be determined by what the football program does. Can't really blame him for Osborne's lackluster hires.
  24. Not trying to put words in Coach Miles mouth but I remember reading a column about how our identity or foundation is built on defense. Unfortunately, we have not been very good on that end of the floor the past few years. GATA ball has turned into a farce as much as "baseline to baseline" was.
