Miles will be here for 2017-18

Well there ya have it. Here's to hoping Miles can right the ship. Important offseason for the Huskers. The transfer rumors were not sounding great before this game so hopefully we don't have any major defections. -

Defense is playing lights out once again for defensive specialist Molinari. -
From the eye test...I would take Thurman over Jacobson. I get that they are in different classes, and I'm not blaming Miles for not recruiting Thurman. Nor is that a knock on Jacobson, but I like Thurman's game. I think a lot of schools stayed away from him as the rumor was he was not going to qualify. Also, Daum is a beast....Andrew Drevo on steroids if you will. His athleticism may keep him from playing in the NBA but he's so crafty it's no wonder he's dropping 25 points a game. Would love to see him become a graduate transfer and give the Big 10 a shot.

Bizarro Fire Miles Talk (Not BS)

Damn, what an ass. I don't like how the team has played recently but that's low to stoop that far. -
It's possible that Mo or Kenya may be gone regardless if Miles is around or not. I really don't see us losing our core group though either way. My thoughts on Sipple aren't really in regards to his basketball knowledge but more so him having a history of giving coaches a very very long leash. You don't need to be an X's and O's expert to understand we are struggling in that department. All you have to do is watch the games.....and, take a peak at our stats the past few years. People say it's not an issue with talent, people say Miles has done a good job developing players....so, is it coaching?
-
Why do you assume by letting Miles go we are starting all over again? But, I've said I think Miles should get next year if Eichorst does not believe he can land a guy on the top of his list. Also, losing players is bound to happen whether we keep Miles or not. The entire Big 10 has good young players in place and good incoming recruits. It's going to take more than that...and when Sipple is calling out your X's and O's ability you know you are REALLY struggling in that department.

Bizarro Fire Miles Talk (Not BS)

That would have been a hell of a steal considering Daum signed his LOI six months before Smith accepted the SD job. He could have offered while he was an assistant at Nebraska though. With Miles approval of course. -
I'm not sure if it's just the 4 big losses. I think it's the fact that we have tanked in the second half of the season for the past three years.

Bizarro Fire Miles Talk (Not BS)

Hey, at least he kept it within 30 points. -
“There were a lot of good things about him, but he didn’t relate well to the press, and in many cases did not relate well to the fans,” Osborne said. “And so those were the things that were not as good. So, end result I think that it didn’t work out as well as I had hoped. “So these things are the things that always make hirings hard.” You left this part out. Most important, the bolded part. No need to read between the lines, I'll take Osborne at his word. Pelini had character issues that hurt our program, we all know this. TO was just pointing out the obvious while also mentioning the hire did not work out as well as he hoped.
-
But the ultimate demise of Pelini as NU coach, Osborne said Thursday, showed the tricky part of being an athletic director and looking outside of your own programs for coaching hires. “I took a chance on Bo Pelini,” Osborne said. “Bo won a lot of games, but I didn’t really know probably enough about his character, and some of those things jumped up and bit him and bit the program.” Miles should absolutely get some good will for leading the program to a NCAA appearance. But, if you don't capitalize off that appearance...what good really did it do? The three years since that appearance have been absolute disasters.
-
I'm not comparing Miles to the previous two coaches, I'm comparing him to his peers. And his record within the Big 10 and more noticeably, his record in the second half of the Big 10 over the last three years point to him failing. I'll wait to hold judgment on Eichorst's hire if he fires Miles. If he doesn't fire Miles, then I will hope for a big sixth year to put the coaching rumors to rest.
-
Yeah, nowhere did I compare the two. We certainly don't ask as much from our basketball program/coaches than we do the football program/coaches. That doesn't mean Tim Miles isn't failing. In fact, with the outcome on the court....he has given Eichorst quite the firepower if he were to make a move at this point.

Pretty sure Eichorst would rather not start over if he doesn't have to. But, Miles really isn't giving him much of a choice at this point. -

That's not what is being reported. Worst home loss in the history of Nebrasketball. For a coach who supposably thinks he's coaching for his job. That's not the way you want to finish. -

Most lopsided home loss in the program's history? Did I read that right? -

So how long before some folks start to complain as a good number of fans didn't stay to watch the 35 point beatdown? -

I'm sure somehow this is ALL Eichorst's fault. If only he knew how to defend the three ball. -
If you are to take Osborne at his word, he stated the job attracted quite a few coaches around the country. But, it was Erstads job if he wanted it.
