  1. That’s funny. I’ve been using Evan so I don’t misspell his last name. Whoops.
  2. I have no inside info. Just a gut feeling but I think we will see Arop and Green transfer out. I think we will probably have to sweat out Mack leaving. Would not surprise me if he just ups and decides to go pro. Also, just a feeling but based on our recruitment of the big kid out East I have a gut feeling Evan may be our the door.
  3. I’d be more worried if I thought our struggles were related to coaching but despite the losing streak I really like what I’ve seen In terms of what our philosophy is and the sets we run. Hoiberg went from winning 3 Big 12 games in year one at ISU to dancing and going 12-6 in conference year 2. Will we see a similar jump? Probably not. But I don’t think it’s going to take Hoiberg long to get the program going.
  4. The fact that Hoiberg has said the practice squad beats the regulars quite a bit is pretty telling. I’ve heard very good things about Banton. We will be much better next year. Not sure what that means in the wins loss column but we will actually look like a Big Ten team walking off the bus and have some length and size to combat our issues this year. Hoiberg said the biggest jump for players is from year 1 to 2. We need that to be true for guys like Evan and Cross.
  5. Mack seems to have hit a bit of a wall. I’m sure the losses and minutes are taxing. Biggest key for him in the offseason is learning how to finish. Sometimes I wonder if he’s so fast that it effects his ability to finish. Cant knock the effort in this one. But same story, we just don’t really have the depth or experience yet to compete 40 minutes with a team like MSU.
  6. Who put a lid on this end? What is that...4 threes down and out?
  7. Going to be nice when we have some size and length. We just have no chance on the boards right now.
  8. He’s been a low 70’s % FT shooter in high school. While Hoiberg put out some great offensive numbers at Iowa St, they were never top notch from the line for whatever reason.
  9. He will end up shooting 30% or below from deep in his high school career. I think his skill set and ability to get to the bucket would have been a good fit under Miles. But, under Hoiberg I think we are looking for something different. It will be interesting to see how his college game ends up. And who knows, with the proposed transfer rule maybe he will end up back in Lincoln.
  10. Disagree on Teddy. I’m not saying he will be an All-American, but if they can keep his head on straight he is going to be a very good player for us. His skill set is pretty special. I don’t know as much about Mayen but at his length and ability to hit the 3 ball will be a welcomed addition id imagine.
  11. I mean, there were multiple articles on Hoiberg contacting him and how many pictures of the two together on campus? Maybe the recruitment dropped off at the end, I don’t know...but I wonder how much Donovan’s hurt feelings had to do with that.
  12. No need to believe it. Donovan said it himself. He said the signing of Teddy “definitely, definitely, definitely” impacted his decision. The fact that some think this is solely on Hoiberg is interesting considering what Donovan has told the media. Perhaps Hoiberg was/is wishy washy on him. I don’t know. But the fact that it has been said Nebraska was ready to take his LOI and Donovan stating “Nebraska only recruits JUCO/Transfers,” “I want to be an immediate impact player” either someone was in Donovan’s ear or he wanted Hoiberg to cater to him by not recruiting other players. Which is crazy.
  13. It was reported that Nebraska would have taken his LOI. But he chose not to sign it. If the above is true, I can’t imagine why they would take his LOI or spend any time recruiting him at all.
  14. If he wanted to be a Husker so bad why didn’t he sign the dotted line? Would you have suggested Hoiberg and company stop recruiting other prospects to satisfy Donovan? Doesn’t seem like a wise choice.
  15. I don’t think this is true. Outside of Kavas, who has turned out to be a bust nobody else on the team had a reputation of being a great shooter. This team was literally scrapped together because we had to put a team together. But, I think we landed some good parts for the future. Cam Mack has turned in to a very good distributor. You can see why Cross and Evan were wanted by the staff. And even Thor wasn’t really thought of as a great shooter before the season started.
  16. Best player? Guy must be blind. Cant imagine Green does get advised to look elsewhere after this year. Unless he makes some significant improvements to his game this offseason he won’t be getting many minutes his senior year.
  17. I don’t think it stinks. Sure he’s not ready, but guys like him and Cross getting major minutes this year IMO will be big for their development. I would love to be winning right now but my expectations for this year were pretty low.
  18. Despite another loss, it’s nice watching a team with good spacing on the offensive end. Going to be really fun to watch with some added talent. I’m looking forward to next year and hoping we will see a big jump out of some young guys.
  19. Assuming they can get Cross and Yvan to work hard over the offseason on their game and get Cross to change his body at the very least we will have a team that looks like it belongs in regards to the eye ball test. All 3 transfers are long and athletic. This years team from a physical standpoint doesn’t look like it belongs in the Big Ten but that’s not surprising considering we essentially started from scratch the moment Miles was fired
  20. I won’t act like I know much about the players ranked ahead of him or the difference in competition but the kid in front of him is averaging 14 points less per game. Also, outside of Teddy putting up better stats than Jervay I think the biggest takeaway would be that Teddy has already been D-1 and proven he belongs. And for a team that is dreadful at shooting free throws...that’s one that that should travel with him. Jervay was a 50% FT shooter at juco level. Teddy is a 90% FT shooter. If Hoiberg can keep him in line he’s going to be a big piece to the puzzle.
  21. Nebraska basketball has never lost 20+ games in a season. Looking at the rest of the season we get maybe...2 more wins? It looks like this will surely be our first 20+ loss season. But, I’m also confident that this staff will be the one to get our no NCAA tournament wins off our back assuming Hoiberg stays long enough. We don’t have the horses right now but I’m looking forward to seeing what this staff can do with the incoming recruits + transfers along side the underclassmen on this team. I will also throw out I was wrong on Cam Mack. Earlier in the year I posted I was afraid he had a bit of “Maurice Washington” in him. Since then he has been nothing but great on the court in terms of body language and play. Can’t really remember a Husker more exciting than him with a ball in his hands.
  22. Great win. And we did it with 7 scholarship players. And that’s even with Kavas just basically being a body out there. Huge marbles on Thor. He’s just a basketball player. Also, time to start talking about Cam being one of the best distributors in college basketball. Some of his passes and his quickness can’t be replicated by many.
  23. 3 of our top 8 are Tim Miles guys. Two are grad transfers who were more or less brought in to help fill out a roster. Out of the two centers, both are true freshman. One is 17 and the other doesn’t have the body yet to play Big Ten ball. Cam Mack is top 15 in assists per game. Needless to say, I don’t really think we can take much from this year.
  24. Most talented may be putting the cart before the horse. I’ve heard good things about Banton and Stevenson. Have not heard much on walker. I’m assuming we will see similar development out of the rest of the crew that was seen at ISU under Hoiberg. A starting lineup of Mack, Allen, Stevenson, Banton, and an improved Ouedrogo is pretty appealing to me. Not sure we see the type of jump where Hoiberg took ISU from a 3 win Big 12 team in year 1 to the tournament in year 2 but he is going to have far more weapons to work with next year.
  25. Nana never played again after his suspension. Not sure it ever came out why he was suspended. Rumor around Lincoln was that TA was home sick.
