The basketball makes sense also. It's not like he's going with Minnesota over Duke just due to a girlfriend.
-
Wow. You do understand she has already gotten herself into college as a scholarship athlete, correct? Would you dump your wife and "go for the money"? I'd take my wife over any amount of money on earth (and at one point she was "just my girlfriend"). Of course, she's a basketball fan. I'm sure the Jay offer is pretty good also, btw.

Things are happening. We offered more for Traudt than Creighton, but the girlfriend is still winning. Efforts as we speak to raise basketball-specific funds, which the Peeds have agreed to match.

This post isn’t going to age well. And we’ll know that very soon.

We are competitive in this space, and will be going forward.

Hard to see how a Nebraska fan could think a team that we play 2-3 times every year, and directly recruit against, should win a natty. I'll be for whoever Iowa plays, and that applies every game all year, except perhaps when they play Creighton.

Our hope is that he doesn't get a committable offer from Creighton. Folks close to the Jays would be shocked if they he doesn't. Perhaps it will depend on who returns for Jays. -
Hope I get to say Scoreboard Conkin; HB was wrong as rain.
-
He'll be out soon. Jay.
-
Hopefully that means we have better prospects out there.

It was clearly and indisputably a foul. One can argue whether it gets called there, but there can be no argument that it wasn’t a foul.
-
I don’t know about that. SCSU depth may have paid off then. Team isn’t great but it is relentless as we saw the second half. Would have been in OT also.

Creighton wins a natty I’m moving out of the state and becoming a hermit.

Amazing how fast things can change. A year ago he was on top of the world. Instructive on not getting too high or low in this world.

Does the fact that the Oregon court is painted like my Dog's ass affect attendance?

Of course some contributing to Creighton's NIL also contribute to UNL's. That's what Omaha money does. Yes, people out and about know who many of the donors are to Creighton NIL. Word of mouth travels in those circles. That's how I know how much Walker was paid, and a few of the donors who got it there. Note, with various collectives around the country, the requirement of disclosing donors depends on the corporate structure of the collective. Some are actually set up as 501(c)(3)'s, which have certain donor disclosure requirements. Big Red Collaborative was set up that way. 1890 and Athlete Impact Management were not. Trev can't directly solicit NIL funds. What he says in private conversations is at his risk; people do that stuff all the time. Obviously there are careful and veiled conversations happening. I can tell you that in the early NIL meetings for Nebraska, Fred attended as a meet and greet, and then left before any actual NIL soliciting took place. This is the wild west, and evolving, but yes, there still needs to be separation between the athletic department and coaches and NIL. -

Wow, you truly don't get NIL, and I'm not going to waste anymore time reading your absurdly long tomes on it. Carry on. -

With regard to "frankly, the dollars required shouldn't be an issue, the NU Ath. Dept. is flush with cash": You do understand that the athletic department can't fund NIL, right? The collectives aren't UNL or its athletic department. And the AD and coaches can't directly be involved in NIL solicitations, allocations or payments. I realize Trev has been talking bout potential future changes in what can be paid to the student athletes through the academic institutions, but right now your NIL comments do not reflect an understanding of how it works. -

Stud guards win in college basketball. Northwestern had a couple of big time studs at guard, with vast experience in the same system. We finished 11th and lose 2 of our best 3 players for sure; hopefully not 3 of 3. Recruit your brains out, Fred. -

I have been saying for weeks we’re going to have significant roster turnover, and need to be very active in the portal at multiple positions. IMO without high level portal infusion this isn’t a roster that in ‘23-24 will be successful. Talent-wise we are currently “not close”, and are more than a couple of pieces here and there from being in the upper half of the league and getting in the dance. Player development alone won’t do it, we need an upgrade in high level talent. Now go get dudes! -

He’s in play. Also coveting a big who isn’t in the portal yet, but if he declares people will go berserk

Not specifically, although the last word i got was positive about Kesei coming back. That's not "take it to the bank" or "done deal" type of stuff. But I heard a relatively decent number on what it would take. We would have no trouble coming up with it if we can work out the legalities. I don't know that they're counting on getting the rules changed in time. Perhaps more of an interpretation of "international students can't receive money while here" kind of thing, and perhaps the endorsement side. I think there is confidence they can make it work even without a rule change, but I don't know the details.
