Nebraska (3-1) vs. Creighton (4-0)

We have to be smarter defensively. Little stupid things. Morgan not setting a clean pick. Hoiberg sending Ashworth to the line on a foul 28 feet away… -
Nebraska (3-1) vs. Creighton (4-0)

I’m old enough to remember guys on this board saying Braxton was a waste and an oaf and a horrible pickup. -

RIP to TCP. He was a regular contributor and I’m sure his life extended 100 fold beyond being on this board. He will be missed.

Well I’d say it’s natural to want to follow a winner. So I can see why some Omahan’s take the Jaysker path. But I truly don’t believe too many outside of Omaha cheer for the jays unless it’s a one off, like GI cheering because of Traudt or Aurora because of Baylor S…

I’ve been getting incessant texts from my Jaysker coworkers all day today. One sent a short video clip of Coach Hoiberg today calling out Jayskers and said “maybe if nebraska wasn’t so terrible at basketball there wouldn’t be Jayskers” Which means they only want to cheer on the bandwagon. I’ve been through seven levels of 2000-2024 nebrasketball hell folks. I’ve driven from Omaha to Lincoln hundreds of times and driven home dejected by crapping games away. I’ve seen 6500 at the Bob for years and watched us as we toiled under Collier and Doc - when Tim gave us a glimpse of what could be but couldn’t sustain. Never once did I say “it’d be easier for me to just cheer for Creighton because they win” but apparently some fans do…

I’m going to have to disagree. First, they represent a quad 1 win opportunity. So that’s not like any other game on the schedule. Second, this game is Creighton’s red circle on the calendar game, and has been since the mid 90’s. And nebraska trying to downplay the rivalry and say it’s just another game is one reason why we get our butts kicked often. I guarantee you that Sam Griesel didn’t view it as no different than any other. And third, I’ve lived in Omaha my entire life as a diehard Husker hoops fan. I loathe the Jays. I loathe the sweater-vest and 3/4 zip wearing, snobby cu fans who make snide remarks the next day in the office. I’ve been putting up with it for over two decades as an adult. I hate that they developed into a relevant and nationally ranked program while their fans also cheer for 9 win seasons and bowl game appearances. I dislike that they built their program with a mixture of clean cut Korvers, Kalkbrenner, Dane Watts, and Grant Gibbs types countered by the P’Allen’s, Cavel Witters, Rodney Buford’s, and Mo’ Watson ilk. I loathe CU. I dislike Jayskers. I find them beyond annoying. I respect coach Mac as a coach but will never ever be a part of his plantation. Sorry to vent. I’m ready for Friday now. GBR!!!!

uneblinstu's postgame chatter : vol 17; ed 1 - UTRGV

Up 52-48 on Wisconsin at the half. Wiscy doesn’t look like a top 20 team this year. -
The problem is GG and Connor defensively weren’t really an upgrade over KT and Wilcher, but offensively, so far they’ve been a downgrade. If we have to have Brice score 25+ a game just to keep us in it, it could be a long season. Rollie has shown flashes but has overall underwhelmed at times. He’s averaged a travel turnover every single game, I can’t remember a pure point guard who takes so many steps…
-
A solid team win. Every single player who got in scored. That doesn’t happen very often. I actually thought Sam and Cale upped the defensive intensity even more and pushed the halftime lead up to 20. Great seeing Cale get in and contribute. He is capable. Coach is high on him because he makes the right passes and plays. He hustles too. I don’t think Meah’s is serious. Not sure about Morgan. Think I saw him in street clothes in the second half.

Bethune-Cookman (0-1) vs. Nebraska (1-0) Game Thread

Maybe it’s just me. I just dont see that same fire from Juwan and Brice this far. Brice had some bad fouls last night but he also literally had the ball and fell down, didn’t even trip, just fell down. Turnovers matter eventually. Did Jo, Mast, and Keisei really have that much of the heartbeat of the team last year? I hope they can get motivated for Wednesday. St Mary’s is a different level. Losing to the McDermott in Omaha isn’t unusual, but getting blown out by 30+ needs to stop, just so I do t endure the stupid sweater vests in the office all year -

I don’t disagree. He has to take the shot. But I just don’t think he or Uhlis are the same type of 3pt threats we had in Lawrence and CJ last year. We may have traded offense for defense and I like Rollie’s presence. -

First time I’ve seen a Husker basketball post call for the coaches firing after a win. Guess the expectations have been raised -

I’m quickly lowering my expectations- unless something changes quick and we get exponentially better, our trip to Omaha is gonna be UGLY -

Offensively, we are simply going to struggle this year. Last year CJ, Keisei, and Lawrence could all hit threes at a very high rate. It also helped Williams last year. Worster and Uhlis aren’t dropping 4-5 threes per game. So our outside shooting is going to be a weakness -

Just no flow to the offense. We don’t have a single slasher? Gary needs to remember who he is. Rollie needs to step up. -

Brice and Gary are not good on forcing contested midrange shots. Have to shoot better from 3, especially at home. Goodness. -

Gary doesn’t look the same as last year. He is just throwing up bricks near the rim. -

Gave up the middle defensively - so we overcompensated at times and left some of their guys pretty open. Our defensive effort tonight would not have translated well in say, the CHI in Omaha. Rollie is solid. Gavin has some spring to his game Connor found his shot compared to the exhibition Have some areas to improve. I don’t think we played all that well and still won by 20. -
Media guides are perhaps a thing of the past (the print versions) but I did successfully use an extra football one back in 1996. A younger brother was visiting my college for “sibling weekend” and he stopped by my dorm room, as he was interested in going to Nebraska, and I was known as a diehard Husker nut. I’m not saying the media guide sealed the deal but he did thank me and took the media guide enthusiastically and told me he would definitely read the entire thing. It worked out, his name was Kyle Vanden Bosch and he did end up coming to Nebraska….

The new media guide is now on Huskers.com 212 pages long. Really well put together.

That’s awesome!!! Hope you get to add another one this year.
