  1. I’m hoping that at the end of this season, that forward Julian Reese enters the transfer portal straight to Lincoln. Athletic, skilled, explosive, active rebounder, man would he and Mast compliment each other next year. If I only had a million dollars to spare….
  2. That was embarrassing. I hope the players have enough pride that they are embarrassed. We got punked and seemed ok with it. Too soft mentally. Need an alpha dog, and no, not just Gary.
  3. Everything is well, Boogie is in!
  4. Committee is gonna look at our average point spread on road games as like 16, that’s not helping us at all.
  5. Whatever we are doing for road games prep, everything needs to be examined. From the routine to the schedule of travel to what they do - it’s clearly not working .
  6. Honestly, a lot of our guys don’t look very interested in being out there right now. It’s embarrassing frankly.
  7. Norm, how you described Reink Mast is almost to a T how my diehard Iowa fan/buddy described Uhlis when it was announced he was going to transfer. He said “elite at nothing, solid at just about everything, definitely won’t carry the team but definitely won’t hurt you either.” I’m joking we find out!!
  8. Keisei actually was the one that assisted Reink on the first two 3’s, which led to the step back one in the first half. Watching the replay, the scout was to stop #30 and they left #51 open. Bit them in the buckeye.
  9. The Ohio state message board was pretty down on Bonner, said his 3 missed free throws got our crowd into it and that the student section lived rent free in his head
  10. Lots of “fire Holtmann” and “‘must be nice to have a team play with effort like Nebraska” a couple of “they are a well coached team” comments when Tominaga passed to Mast two times in a row and he hit the top of the key threes one comment was “ok, that’s not fair”
  11. Fellas, at 15-5, we now are off to our best start since the 1990-1991 season. And what a season that was- 26 wins and a #3 seed in the big dance.
  12. Some of the earlier adjustments on the court and mixing of personalities played out in the early games in front of our eyes. I will say, the one have largely disappeared and the on court chemistry is much improved and better. I browsed the Ohio state board because I was curious. The post that got me was “my goodness, we’re playing an international team…” and it was meant in a complimentary way. I guess I never thought of us like that, but yep, international teams prove to be tough to beat unless USA basketball brings out their top level players.
  13. Keisei didn’t have a great game but he played the first part of the second half and simply didn’t need to go back in the way Mast and Wilcher were shooting. Offense always looks better when we are making shots. I’m old enough to remember guys on this board (me included) loathing Mast taking so many threes against Iowa and some even commenting “there’s a reason you’re open” Bottom Line. That was Full Mast today. That was Purdue Mast. It was a thing of beauty. It was eye opening to see him hit the step back. He was hot and his confidence in scoring inside was also at an all time high. I loved seeing it. Im as big of a Keisei fan as there is, but tonight he seemed to be forcing some things and I’ll admit, he put up some forced shots. This give opposing coaches some more things to think about when they scout us. We aren’t just all KT. We can score with a variety of players. A nice win that was fun to be at - crowd wasn’t huge but we were loud at times
  14. Brice just got fouled on that pass but no foul called
  15. Looked like a clean strip by KT. Replay would confirm
  16. Kills me KT only has two shot attempts this far into the game
  17. We are not very good against the zone
  18. If JL plays this kind of defense and shoots 0-3, what is he doing taking anyone else’s minutes???
  19. I don’t like Terry O. Blaise is a long ways from coming back, watched him in warmups. Had a limp and doesn’t look like he can run at his full speed
  20. Yep, I remember that now. Coach said some complimentary things about him too afterwards. Then it’s been pretty scarce…
  21. Well, it’s been a month since the last post on this thread, not sure I’ve seen Boogie play more than a few minutes since. At this point, Fred and staff must not trust him or his practice habits are so bad that he can’t be played. I think Cale has passed him on the depth chart coming off the bench…
  22. It’s been mentioned by myself and others. Fred doesn’t get animated and some of this may be due to his heart co diction. He can’t go Fredcon out there. But he can protect his guys. As much as I hate the Bluejays, my goodness Mac works and whines and bitches a lot. But I think it has an influence too, especially at the end of games. He worked the refs so hard against Seton Hall, thought for sure he was gonna pick up a T. He’s always fighting for his guys. Especially Kalk. Fred and staff should continue to stay on the officials - our bigs are getting punished and KT gets held more than Billy Kemp
  23. Needed this win. Felt like this one would’ve been a tough one to overcome had we lost, barring some miraculous winning streak. Jo brought it today. Needed that. Just don’t believe Mast is at full, well, Mast. Brice had a tough stretch with some passes and he looked quite frustrated. Consistency will be his big area of improvement. He’s got a lot of tools and talent. JL shot well and pitched in 10 points. His turnovers and decision making at times are rough. Still, he’s trying and doing what he’s being asked. KT - such a joy to watch. Thought he tried to attack at times and not just be a perimeter shooter. His big shot was clutch. On to THE Holtmans
