Iowa lost to South Dakota St. Jacks are a good team but Daum didn't even have a good game. Two head scratching losses for Iowa

Creighton (Counciltucky State) is beating UCLA in a close game in the Hall of Fame Classic in KC. I think all no who's to blame... CHINA!!!

With Gill's injury history I think Nana should be ready to play. However, he's gotta be ok that some games he might only see 2-3 minutes depending on if his jumper is hitting. Hopefully he understands that Gill and Taylor are gone next year and that the responsibility load will be high for 2018-19

I guess we all make bad decisions when we're in our early 20s. Some people get a tattoo others go to Creighton. I feel Walt made a dumb mistake leaving early and it's unfortunate the NCAA wouldn't let him return. I think he's a nice guy and I'm glad Miles didn't write him off and has welcomed him back as part of the program.

I ran into Walt this summer. I asked him what he saw in this team since I knew he was working out some with them. He smiled and said it should be a fun year. He went into some detail about how players were progressing and the whole time you could tell he was excited.

Iowa St is number 48 and Mississippi St is number 69. So I'm not wanting to give these rankings too much validity, but I think it's fine to be a little under the radar. Also Illinois is number 86 and lost to Eastern Illinois. Something tells me we'll do ok on Saturday

Great show. It was nice to hear straight from Jack. It's easy to forget while analyzing them through the PBA fishbowl that these are 21 college dudes. That's one of the things that makes this team kinda intriguing you got some characters on the team. Does this team match Miles' personality the best in his tenure here?

uneblinstu's post scrimmage chatter
rwhiston replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
As long as Taylor and Gill stay healthy and productive I'm onboard too. Hopefully both could see it as an opportunity to gain skill without being under the microscope. Then come out as freshmen and have some serious playing time. Remember this summer when Miles wanted to go after tall guards for the class of 2018? Well that hasn't gone to plan yet. Perhaps redshirting two guard with some height can lead to an explosive year from the next year as they contend for playing time. -
Interesting Tanner is getting as much time as Duby. I'm sure there minutes will change once they give Jordy a total green light, but good for Tanner, it's nice to see his handwork paying off. Another guy Iowa St. didn't use today was grad transfer Hans Brase. Brase visited Nebraska the same week as Duby and he's coming off a couple injury riddled seasons. I'm wondering if they aren't willing to risk it this early. Still Iowa St. is no scrub. I think we're all ready for this season to get here. Stay tuned!!!

Any scuttlebutt on today's scrimmage? I'm curious to see how we stack up against Iowa St

Exhibition Game: Nebraska at Mississippi St
rwhiston replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Mississippi St had 9 more free throw attempts but only 3 more points from the line. I'm sure they aren't happy about being down 23, but they clawed back. I think both teams showed promise -
Palmer looks like the real deal. Offensively Copeland struggled but 7 rebounds is an added bonus. Glynn was Glynn, Jack was Jack. Nice to see Anton get out there and made some good cuts to the hoop. Wish Zay would have looked better but it's one game. Jordy looked great in limited minutes. 1st half awesome, 2nd half fine. Time to go back to the workshop!

Exhibition Game: Nebraska at Mississippi St

Mississippi St didn't take a ton of 3's but holding them to 1-13 beyond the arc seems not too shabby. -

All the fouls didn't help keep us in rhythm. Good learning experience. -

Does anyone know if there is a live box score somewhere? -

Big change from the last couple years! Love getting buckets -
2019 PF Kadin Shedrick -> Virginia
rwhiston replied to Navin R. Johnson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Love seeing us go after another big guy! His frame looks similar to that of Nate Roberts with that long wingspan that makes Jay Bilas salivate. Not a ton of video of him on YouTube but what I saw was a guy who can shoot from a variety of places on the court and has a rim game that isn't just dunking. Obviously he could use some more lbs but he's only a junior. The one thing I noticed was he's not a high energy guy and takes what is given to him. Not always a bad thing if he's make smart decisions but I don't want another JBD down low -
Looks like Trev was the one who said no thanks. In all honesty it might be a good decision for both parties. Despite getting off to a rocky start at UNO with cutting the football and wrestling programs, UNO is seeing some growth in their athletic department. They have a nice new arena that fits them, and people actually care about sports other than hockey. I think if he'd come to Nebraska it would have been hostile immediately and some times it's best to just stay put. It's like Mark Few says "You don't leave a job when you're happy." and I think Trev is plenty happy in Omaha

2018 PF Nate Roberts -> Washington
rwhiston replied to Navin R. Johnson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Don't know if it matters but he did retweet Xavier Johnson's video. Maybe the lure of going to a prestigious basketball program has diminished in the last few days. Quick question: if Boeheim paid his own kid to play at Syracuse is that considered allowance? -

So it looks like Boeheim might be an underrated recruiter. Must have a heck of a sales pitch. -
Me too. His wingspan is something else. Hope the NeBrewster Pipeline continues to roll

2018 PF Nate Roberts -> Washington
rwhiston replied to Navin R. Johnson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I had to do some research to see how Boeheim could have a son that is still in high school. -
I understand it's early, but are we striking out too much with our top prospects this year. The guys we spent a lot of time with this summer are opting for more consistent programs. Is Miles future really hurting us on the recruiting trail. We didn't get an underclassman transfer this year. I think it's fixable but we need a quality season

2018 PG Tyrese Haliburton -> Iowa St
rwhiston replied to Navin R. Johnson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Well shoot -
This year is about getting buckets! I feel like the last few years we've felt good about getting buckets for sure from one person and maybe not quite as confident in getting consistent points from another couple players. The rest of the team was kind of a liability or super streaky. From the early signs, it looks like this team has a lot more offensive firepower from a variety of places on the floor. If that's the case and we can sure up our parameter defense then the ceiling is the roof. But it's all about buckets
