  1. I re-watched the game and payed close attention to our defense when Michigan made three pointers. In almost every occasion it was when we were in a man defense, a Michigan player makes a drive towards the hoop and a defender would leave his man to help with the drive. Michigan, and previously Northwestern, would be able to kick it out to a three point shooter. Either he would be open and shoot it, or, one of our other defenders on the perimeter would have to leave his man to cover the shooter, and the shooter would swing it to that open man. The first defender who left his man is caught scrambling to close on the open shooter and get a hand up, but it's too late. If I were to ask Coach Miles, or better Molinari a question, I would ask if they ever consider just playing straight up man without the help, at least when teams are able to continually get wide open looks off of it. If they are coached to help on the dribble drive, it seems hard to expect them to do that and to also be able to get back out to their man before he can get a shot off. But maybe it's an execution thing. Perhaps basketballjones or Dean Smith could explain it for me.
  2. You know, I've always hated Ride of the Valkyries.
  3. Farg! Everytime we need a stop they score. Can't keep trading baskets.
  4. Gotta 'nut up' on defense. I'm sorry, is that an old term?
  5. Sounds like our defense is a pile of stinky do-do.
  6. Miles will be on the radio tonight. Hopefully will have more of a prognosis on Ed. Also be interested in who starts in his place.
  7. I mean....damn!
  8. FWIW I do occasionally hear the cheerleaders chant, like "Defense" <clap, clap>. But not for long, and just barely from my perch in 306. Haven't seen these in awhile. They should bring them back.
  9. Aw, that sucks! That's the conference's leader in offensive rebounds. Not only that, I think he makes Jacobson better. By garnering so much attention from other teams, Jacobson has been able to gobble up a ton of rebounds too.
  10. In hindsight, I wish we could have foreseen the need to be especially ruckus and rowdy for last Sunday's game, what with the team coming off an extremely physical and emotional game less than 72 hours prior. I wish there could have been some sort of informal (or even formal) movement to get the message out to ticket holders before the game that we needed to be extra loud in order to lift them up and help them out, much in the same way No Sit Sunday came about. I can't remember what the impetus was for that, but I first learned about it here, and then later saw it through other social media outlets, as well as the LJS.
  11. No-Sit Sunday 2: Electric Boogaloo.
  12. Late to the party, but....
  13. We need Indiana to get their mojo back and win some games.
  14. Hmm, so may or may not be a hip pointer. I just did some quick and dirty research on hip pointers, and recovery varies on severity, but conservatively a couple weeks. Either way I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't play tomorrow, or at least sparingly.
  15. Can a brother get a Brian Rosenthal tweet??
  16. In his post-game radio interview my recollection is that Miles, after explaining why Roby sat for the 2nd half, said that they expect Roby to play Sunday.
  17. Well they sure don't make it easy to go 3-0 in this league. My goodness!
  18. Think how many Husker "fans" would have missed the end of Maryland had it been at home.
