Can’t say I am surprised by the score. I am disappointed in Parrish going off on us. I would think the scouting report had her as a 3 point threat. Also thought we should have used Potts more in the paint. Did not think Parrish could guard her well enough. Kind of going back to what has been said before, playing to our players strength’s. On to Illinois.

Maggie is confirmed to Penn State.

I agree the officiating was not very good. Mark Resch was part of the crew last night. I have watched enough to know he is not good on any night.
-
Potts was tonight’s MVP.

The transfer portal has changed the game as has NIL money. It could be anyone on the current roster that has time left to play that may decide to enter the portal, even NE girls. You can have what you think is a successful year and they still leave. Some leave because they want to play (thinking VB here) and not sit behind a starter. Some go because they are not getting enough playing time or not starting. Assistants talking with club coaches to gauge a players current status on their team. Are they happy would they consider going elsewhere. A girls favorite team not interested when they were in HS and now are. I will enjoy watching and cheering them on while they are here, be it 2 years or 4 years.

I am sure Amy will find time to give Potts in game rest as needed. Sounded like she would have in the second half but Potts still was playing at a high level so she rolled the dice and kept her in. Was a little surprised Petrie played just a few minutes.
-
I think Stewart is still not completely back, hence her limited minutes. Also in the post game Amy said Corey was injured? I do know she came out with a support on one arm so maybe a elbow injury? It did seem like Potts had no problems playing all of the second half. She got into a good flow for the game. I think we will need to see more of that if we are to do well in conference play.

Hake’s best game as a Husker. Amy did rotate her and Maddie toward the end for offense and defense some. She has stepped up which is good to see. Great to see Amy stick with Potts. Potts is going to make teams think twice about sagging on Alexis with her second half. Did think the officials called a tight game and even then it was pretty rough out there. Hake is getting better at handling ball pressure. Great win against a tough team.

Let’s hope they are ready to play from the opening tip. We do not need a slow start.

Seen on the Volleytalk board under "Nebraska 2024" a tweet from Sam regarding Maggie. "Nebraska women’s basketball coach Amy Williams said it’s her understanding Maggie Mendelson will transfer and concentrate on volleyball. Williams said that she and Mendelson have been in a dialogue."
-
Amy does follow a sub pattern at times. I have watched players and the clock and have seen it. Now it does not always get followed but she does use it. Not a surprise with Maggie in the portal. IMHO it was a wasted scholarship. But then we still have some we do not fill. Questions and more questions. So where is Sam M. Would be interested in his opinion.

We need to be smart in our shot selection. AM going 0-4 in 3 point attempts is not her shot, period. She needs to stay in the paint and make them foul her. We had no FT attempts in the first half. I think Petrie, and Potts can both be good paint players but we do need to help them some at this point. That in turn can open up the outside shot. Also we can't just camp out at the 3 point line. Use some screens, double screens to help get our shooters open. We have 10 days to figure this out before Maryland comes in.
-
I hope we have better ball control tonight. We can't continue to give up all these turnovers without it coming back to bite us.

Bugeaters1, Yes I am sure I most likely posted about Coley not turning the corner and yet after coming in early, and as a junior she finally seems to be getting it. Glad for her. Will say this KM is a good teammate even if her on court production isn't much to speak of. Now let's go girls and kick some Jayhawk toosh.
-
Think the fouls called after the half was to make it more even on the FT's. I don't agree with it because some was bad. I do think Krull can be a good defender so would like to see more time between her and Nissley. Not sure if Moriarity will ever turn the corner on the court.
-
Nice to see Nissley continue her good shooting. We will need her once B1G starts.

There will be a watch party after the game at PBA for the WVB championship. Free admission at 1PM.

Natalie Potts- Freshman of the Week

She keeps this up and she could be our next BFOY. -
While none of us want to see us have a 17 point lead with a little over 2 minutes and let it get down to 4, I'm sure Amy wasn't happy either. We have too much (guard) experience and that should not happen, even with pressure MSU was using. I will say Jaz did have a good assist/turn over ratio so OK with some of her TO. Will give DW a pass as it was her first B1G game but still being a graduate player she should be better. I think Jaz does better when she makes a few baskets inside the arc before taking 3's, 1 for 7 will not cut it. I have always felt like Coley could be that type of shooter for us but it is a fine line with the rest of her game and sometimes she does hurt us. Partly why I think Potts needs more time on the court. Will take all road wins in the B1G because they will be hard to come by.

Iowa does not have good production from their center position. After both Gustafson, and Czinano they are using 3 players (Goodman, Stuelke, and O'Grady). Thought Stuelke would take over for Czinano but she is still coming off the bench. They still have Martin, and Marshall to go with Clark.
-
Notice our top three players all had 30+ minutes today. We need them to show up every game. Also liked that Amy stayed with the hot players in the second half.
-
With Amy in year eight we have a good idea of what to expect from her.
-
We need to get both Potts and Markowski going to start games. Both do well in the paint, and at the FT line. Props to AM for improving at the FT line this year (82%). What I do not want to see from her is shooting 3's. She is at round 12-13%. We need to play to the strengths of our players. Too many players firing from the 3 point line and maybe shouldn't be.
-
I do not think Coley has ever gotten that many minutes. Maybe she has finally turned a corner and found her place with this team.
-
So I am sure I am not the only one when I played and was missing from the outside to move in and make a few before going back for a outside shot. Would be nice to see our three point shooters doing the same thing
