AM missing all those close shots hurt a lot. She makes half of them and this goes from a loss to a win. Rutgers suited up 9 today. They earned this win.

Would like to see a complete game today. We need to keep building now that we are in February.

I also would not be surprised if Krull is back in the starting line up on Saturday. I never heard and maybe nothing was said as to Hake taking her place. Outside of a injury I do not see Amy changing the starters. I do know sometimes players have not started due to a team violation. So maybe Maddie committed a small error in judgement? Regardless as long as we can keep winning the games we should and maybe win one or two that are 50-50 or have a upset think making the NCAA dance would be pretty solid.

Allison is a little over 3 months since her surgery.

With regard to the vibe on the WBB board. To me what I think is we are seeing more fan frustration in the posts. For me I do not see this team as a glass half empty but a glass half full with the potential for more.

Anytime you can have 5 players in double figures (points) we should be having a good game. May not always be a win but more often than not will result in a "W". Outside of a lull in the second when we let them back in it to close the half, we righted it with good play after half time. We took care of business, now on to Rutgers.

I think we need to remember that after two losses our comments will be more negative. Just like we are more positive when we are winning. Not every poster on this forum sees things the same way and that is OK. Do I think we could of changed up a few things and played better? Yes. As pointed out Potts was 1 of 5 from three. Do I think she should be shooting threes? No. What I would like to see is she take a few dribbles in and shoot a 16-17 footer. I think she is more than capable of hitting that shot at a better clip. Plus then it can help when she drives to the basket. She is a good FT shooter and we should use that as much as we can. I think with a few changes we could be a top 4 seed this year. Now I hope we can be a top six seed. Below that and our chances of making the NCAA get tougher.

15 minutes for Potts does not seem like enough. By with the rotations Amy uses it is hard to tell if someone is under the weather.

After the slow start to only be down by 5 is a plus. That said do not feel like Iowa is playing their best game so far. Feel like we could be up with a few better choices.

Bad start for us.

Agree Clark will get her points, one way or another. What really hurts is when Clark draws 3 defenders and Martin, or Marshall get open looks for a three. You can go from down 4-6 points and they suddenly add another 10-12 on top of the 4-6 already. They play just enough defense to make it work. Really think they key to beating Iowa is to play a more half court game with plenty of inside offense, and timely threes. We can't get into a run and gun game with them.

I would much rather have a team that hangs it hat on offense. So that would translate to a shorter rotation. I understand rotating in fresh players and hopefully they can give 100% for their shorter stretch on the floor. I see too many teams who use a shorter rotation with their starters playing heavier minutes. I also have seen teams who know defense is not their strong suit so they try to outscore you. More than a few teams do quite well with plan. Again, just MHO.

I am wondering how many Iowa fans scooped up a ticket(s)? Would like to see mostly RED.

So the Iowa home game on February 11th is now a sellout. PBA is listed as a 15,500 seat arena.

Our two best 3 point shooters, Hake and Nissley each only had one attempt last night. We need to get them more open looks. KM played more than Nissley but she also provided a spark. DW was 1 of 4 from deep but she has not been a good 3 pointer shooter. KM was 1-3 from deep. She appears to be a better drive to the basket player. Jaz was 1 of 4. She has been streaky, either on or not at all.

Not too surprised by our three point shooting numbers. They guarded the three pretty well. Also KBA went deeper in her bench than she normally does. She was not happy with her team when she called her first timeout at 12-3. Easily our most complete defensive game. You know it is a bad night for them when their best player, Phelia only scores 9 points of which 7 comes from the FT line in 33 minutes. Their slow start and our defense put them in the hole and we kept them at bay when they got close.

Amy is the type of coach that likes to hang her hat on defense. She has said so a few times. I can think of a couple of players where she said once their defense improves they will have more time on the court. IMHO it can come back to bite you. I know we have some players who are better on the offensive end, thinking Hake, or Nissley. I would rather see them spend more time on the court, knowing their defense can be lacking at times but the plus side they can score. Both are hitting plus 40% from three. When we look to go into the paint then we tend to do better from the 3 point line. We need both Potts and Alexis to be active in the paint as well as Jaz and Darrin. We really need to work on getting Potts more touches. Seems like she works hard to get good position in the paint and we do not look to get her the ball. Potts does a lot of her damage on the boards and second chance points. Which is great but I think it could be more from her. Again, just me two cents.

Krull, and Moriarty are really in more for there defense than offense. Any points we get from them is a bonus. Stewart just does not seem right. Wonder if she has completely recovered from her ankle, and she has also been seem with a wrap on one of her thighs.

As was mentioned earlier in this thread, are contenders or pretenders. With a game like this that picture is becoming a bit more clear.

Amazing what a coach with experience can do for a team. Will need to be better guarding the three if we are going to have a chance today.

Iowa plays fast and once they get rolling it is hard to stop them. Their defense is better than in past years. Clark demands so much attention it opens up their shooters for the three.

Sometimes you have to win ugly.
