I can see that now. No. I have zero idea what Hoiberg has to do to coach a 5th season. So my thought was each person that answered can decide what that is. And then decide which is more likely.
The main thing I took from Trevs statement is he is Vise Chancellor, Director of Athletics . And to me thats WAY cooler than Athletic Director. If someone must address me formally I know which I'm choosing.
I hope you're right too. But the way I read it its 4M. And if we do make a change next year the odds are slim those recruits stay.
Its a punt. And sometimes thats the best move.
Definitely 3.5M can matter. Not sure it does in this case. I just don't buy that as a reason to keep Hoiberg. Now if there is a MAJOR restructuring of his contract I'd listen. I personally think Hoiberg is cooked. I can understand why people point to his time at ISU. I just see it the other way. ISU is the anomaly not NU.
I would take it a step further and say make it a priority as part of your recruiting strategy. Identify the top 2-3 kids in the state and try to get one each year.
My only hope at this point for the next coach is that when I watch games I don't have to sit there perplexed as to why these young men cannot execute things on the basketball court that were drilled into nearly all of us starting when were 10 - 12 years old
