Ooh I got I one too! My wifes cousin called in her chips to get super bowl tickets this year for her and her son. Was in one of the boxes with a bunch of famous people. One was Steph Curry. Which she photo bombed . Made it on to Stephs IG account. The FB is hers

I just looked up the website and it looks like its a new venture from one guy that started some of the other online sites. https://www.on3.com/about/

Is it "the" factor? No. Is it a contributing factor? I could be convince. From the outside looking in it seems to have some validity. To me it seems if all things have been equal if the Football and Basketball coaches are taking a chance on a kid they pick the out of state kid before the in state kid.

We are just in different places. I think this team struggles to get to double digit wins again. My guess is around 12.

Did NIL render Matt Abdelmassih superfluous?
cornfed24-7 replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I think we have quite some time before that happens. These NIL groups have just started becoming organized. I don't think they have even come close to scratching the surface of their potential to raise and distribute cash to players. I imagine T. Boone Pickens is sitting in whatever afterlife he believes in like "This is some BS. I wanted to buy players for decades and they told me I couldn't! BS I say!" -
Me too. Its was surprisingly harder to find the votes on the decisions without having to read the opinions or going through each docket than I suspected it would be. After about 20 mins this was the best I could find.

I remember the supreme court had ruled in favor of the athletes. What I did not remember was the decision was 9-0 Considering how divided the courts have been and the multitude of 5‐4 decisions I find this somewhat amazing.
-
This is really the only way I see a path out of this.
-
Maybe. I guess it all depends on what is meant by "eventually". Is this 10, 20, or 30 years from now. I have a hard time believing you are going to get all parties involved in this to agree on a course correction before the damage is done. And by that time the damage has been done.
-
The only way I see that this "sorts" itself out is some version of what you suggested above. Any limitations put in place by the NCAA or Universities to reign this in will lose in court. Theres a reason they did this in the first place and its not because they are on the right side of the law.
-
Thats naive at best. If limits are put in place any one of the thousands of college athletes can claim damages. And the courts have already ruled in favors of these athletes. Private entities can most certainly choose to spend less money on certain athletes/programs. But I think what you are suggesting is silly. The next BIG TV contract is suspected to over a billion dollars. There is more money in college sports than ever before. Universities and boosters want wins. They have money to spend and now they can buy athletes. This isn't "working" itself out.

I think that ship has sailed. The powers that be had one chance to get this right. They didn't. Pandoras box is now open. Any way that is tried to reign this in now will be met with lawsuits and litigation. And I suspect ultimately lose in the court of law. This is college sports now for good and (my opinion) mostly bad.

I'm thinking a trade modeled after the one between the Raiders and Bucs circa 2002 may help

Ted Lasso!

You need to add 3 more teams for us to clear the bottom 5

It looks to me the buyout was the primary factor in keeping Hoiberg. I think it will be the primary factor next year as well. I think this team will do a game or two better than this year. And we will then get to see it all over again in year 5 with another roster that looks nothing like the year before.

Man...I haven't thought about Mum's Liquor in quite some time

I saw this while scrolling through the news today. Adidas jumping into the NIL pool with an atomic cannonball. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-sports/adidas-announces-nil-opportunity-for-college-athletes-at-schools-that-partner-with-company/ar-AAVpSNV?ocid=BingNewsSearch

We don't talk about Bruno no no.

There's the legacy

I agree to a point. My baseline is a cumulative viewing of 3 seasons. I hope he succeeds and has them ready to play at the begining of the season instead of the end. Unless of course he runs the table then you do you Hoiberg.
-
Don't worry I was right there with you on that hill. A road win against a ranked team is definitely Hoibergs signature win. I am stoked for the fortunes these past few games for the players and Hoiberg. I haven't posted much lately because I don't want to be "that guy". But I have huge concerns Hoiberg can get his team playing like this in time for it to matter. He kinda did this last year too. Hell, maybe his plan all along was to run the table in the tournament That would REALLY shut me up
