With a couple weeks remaining in the academic semester, Williams said she doesn’t expect any players to transfer to other schools. A few are examining their options from a “health or academics” perspective, though, including forward Rachel Blackburn, who continues to battle chronic knee pain. Blackburn averaged 1.5 points and 1.9 rebounds last season in 29 games off the bench. This was Amy's latest thoughts on players that may leave. It is on the Media post on April 18th where she said Bill Moos and her were on the same wavelength. First time I heard the "academics" used.

Williams met with Moos April 9 for a sitdown following the Huskers’ surprising turnaround season that resulted in a NCAA tournament bid. An extension on Williams’ contract — which currently runs through the 2022 season — and extensions on her assistants’ contracts (which run through 2019) should come at a later date. “We’re completely on the same page with the way things should work and the way things are working,” Williams said last week. “He’s genuinely as excited as we are about the direction of our program. All of those things make me feel awesome.” After a 7-22 season in Williams’ first year, the Huskers finished 21-11 overall and 11-5 in the Big Ten. Nebraska swept rival Iowa. Williams won Big Ten coach of the year as the team earned a No. 10 seed in the NCAA tournament. The 73-62 loss to Arizona State — in which Nebraska was badly outrebounded — still stings Williams and the team. “They got a taste of the NCAA tournament, but they’re not satisfied with that,” Williams said. “It created more of a hunger. That was a fun ride, and we enjoyed being there, but now that we got a taste of that, we want more. It’s incredible how that works. We feel like we could have put a better performance together in that game.” With a couple weeks remaining in the academic semester, Williams said she doesn’t expect any players to transfer to other schools. A few are examining their options from a “health or academics” perspective, though, including forward Rachel Blackburn, who continues to battle chronic knee pain. Blackburn averaged 1.5 points and 1.9 rebounds last season in 29 games off the bench. “There’s just some question marks in the evaluation there that her family will go through,” Williams said. “We’re just going to support her no matter what.” Notes » Nebraska would consider adding another signee to the 2018 class if it finds “the right fit,” Williams said. NU is thin in the post, especially if Blackburn chooses to retire. » Women’s basketball coaches have one more evaluation period this weekend. NU will also host a 2019 prospect, so Williams plans to split her staff to accommodate both tasks. The next evaluation periods aren’t until July 6-12 and July 23-29, after which teams usually schedule official visits during football games in preparation for the fall signing period. » Incoming freshmen Leigha Brown, Sam Haiby, Kayla Mershon and Ashtyn Vanderbeek are set to arrive the first weekend in June in time for summer classes.

The ten remaining players will all be able to contribute and would probably be enough players but only if we stay healthy. When was the last time that happened. We probably need another guard with experience even if only for one year.
-
So I take it that here will be some announcements made in the near future.
-
Can't wait to have her here hopefully at the beginning of summer. With 3 guards graduating there are lots of opportunities there.
-
Allie and Esther seemed to be very close friends. Could have been some influence from one to another there.
-
I also think she was spoiled a bit and needed to do some growing up which had to happen if she was going to play at ND. It obviously did happen. And yes ND owes coach Williams a big one.
-
It was a tough time for Kia Nurse to have an off night. She had the open shots but they didn't go in.

The stats for our 5 posts/forwards were in total 4 points, 8 rebounds and 9 fouls. Not going to win many games against decent competition with that stat line. When Maddie doesn't show up and we don't have the quality backup that we need it forces Jasmine to have to play the power forward which hurts for obvious reasons. Next year that will change. You need an active and consistent power forward to help keep pressure off of our posts. I'm sure Kate has learned a lot this year and will take a step up next year also.

I think having Creighton every year would be good. Kind of a rivalry game. K state would be good as well since we seem to recruit Kansas relatively hard. We will still have the ACC challenge game which hopefully will give us a better team to play then Clemson. Northern Colorado would be another good one. As for the freshmen I think they will hit the ground running. Especially A. Veerbeek. I think she will contribute early. She is tough as nails. When you are a 4 star ESPN recruit rated at 95 you are expected to get a fast start. We will need for at least one of the guard recruits to play a lot early since we are graduating 3 at that position.

Buffalo, Drake and Creighton were OK this year but the trouble was we only beat one of them. I would like Oklahoma on the schedule which should make Bugeaters and Cazzie happy especially if it was a home game for us.
-
They did beat Rutgers when Rutgers was playing well. Wash. St. went to hell when their conference season started.
-
Not really. I saw her in person a year ago.
-
When you are in the process of restoring a team to prominence you need measuring sticks along the way. We had several of them already this year. We now have an opportunity for another one or two before the off season.

Our metrics are much better then the mens. Even though the WBB committee doesn't yet use the quadrant system like the mens it still shows the difference between our men and women. 1 quad one win for the men and 7 for the women. Our 8-2 road record is better then most teams except for the top 5 rated teams. That also has to account for something. I think we are in and higher then originally thought. I may be setting myself up for a huge disappointment tomorrow but I don't think so.
-
Hopefully it means we are a higher seed then the last four in. I say that since we aren't even in the list above and are definitely better then two thirds of them.
-
I think Ashtyn will be a 4 and Kayla a 5 although both could play the other post position as well.
-
I just think everyone is just holding their breath until Monday night. If we get in all hell will break loose in a positive way.
-
Iowa will continue to be the team I love to beat. Moving into 2nd is now Maryland. I'm glad we played them 3 times this year as we learned a lot in those games in other words a great measuring stick.
-
However it all turns out Coach Williams will turn it into something positive going forward.
-
After the early signing period we were 20th. But a couple of teams were expected to sign high profile players before the final signing date which would push us down a bit. Anyway I am excited about our incoming recruits.

I have BTN to go and watched every thing there which worked great. Was able to go back and watch plays again and slow it down to really appreciate them. I plug my computer into the big screen TV and rewatch the game again there as well. Didn't do that last year as it was too depressing.
