  1. Hey Red Don could you walk me through the play as to who passed it in and who caught it. All I know from the crappy radio broadcast is that Nicea took the shot. How long of a shot was it. Thanks
  2. Even though there was a lot of crap going on in the Drake game we learned how to face adversity in an away game and fight through it for the win. I think this will pay big dividends down the road as we continue to get tougher as a team.
  3. I'm pretty happy with our progress. Bria and Janay came in as starters on their previous teams so there is some adjustment to coming off the bench. I think it will all work out if we can just stay healthy. Great to see Maddie putting her game together at the forward position. Jasmine has totally taken me by surprise. With eight days off we now have time to work on some deficiencies like free throws.
  4. I listened thru 2 overtimes and with the breakup on the radio from husker.com I just couldn't take it any more so went for a bike ride. Tried the app for watch espn.com but our cable company doesn't carry espn3 so couldn't watch. I think I will try to stir the pot and ask the administration why the hell we can't get better service for our WBB program. Anyway it was a great win and we probably have more to learn watching the tape of this game then the rest of the season put together.
  5. Pretty obvious from this game and the Kansas one that we need to keep Kate on the floor. Healthy and out of foul trouble.
  6. Unfortunately I don't get Espn 3 but will attempt to listen to radio through huskers.com. with a lot of breakup but better then nothing. I think our defense is improving and will continue to do so with a young team but we do need Taylor healthy. if we can get Hannah, Taylor and Woody hot at the same time we are a decent team. Beating Drake isn't the same as Iowa but it would be a nice road win.
  7. We should have 7 wins right now. That Clemson loss shouldn't have happened. Refs took that one away in my estimation.
  8. One of Kate's biggest assets is her smarts. If I remember correctly she was Salutatorian in a rather large high school class. If you watch her she adapts well to things as they change during the game. She efficiently positions her self as she moves around the post. Having a great defensive center to defend the middle does more then just block shots it makes everyone driving in there think twice about whether to shoot or not. She came to the team late missing a lot of summer practices and had the injury then as well. Just look at her development to date and we still have games left in the non conference. She may not be in the great category yet but her upside for all the reasons mentioned in other posts is tremendous. She officially has 30 blocks for the season and leads the conference with an average of 3.3 per game. On a side note Woody leads the league in 3 pt. shooting at 55%.
  9. Besides Moorhead's Haiby playing at 1:30, Western Christian's Verbeek plays at 6:00.
  10. That happens when the other team has 24 more shot attempts coming from getting 11 more steals and giving up 14 less turnovers. Doyle had 7 of the turnovers. Yes Gustafson is the real deal and was 1st team all big ten last year.
  11. My favorite vision going forward. Kate rips down a rebound and immediately hits a guard starting down the court passing to a streaking Maddie for a layup.
  12. I'll be watching to see if Shepard has a better game against Michigan's Hallie Thome now that she is playing for Notre Dame then when she was playing for Nebraska. Also watching Chatrice White playing for Florida State against Megan Gustafson from Iowa should be interesting.
  13. Hard to watch so finally shut off sound for 2nd half. Much better. All I know is we finally since the start of last season won a game away from Pinnacle. Maybe the monkey is now off our back
  14. If Maddie didn't have bad luck she would have no luck. Falling out of bed and breaking her arm/wrist. Spraining your ankle during pregame warm ups. This really puts us in a bind at power forward. Jas is tough enough but not tall enough for that position and going from guard to PF is a big step. Look how long it took Maddie and Grace. Wow what an unfortunate occurrence. Grace is a good sub but not yet starting material.
  15. Creighton did in fact play some under classmen which took a little less then 50% of the minutes. All I'm saying is that youth and transfers in can hurt you at times early in the season but as it progresses should be less of an issue. How fast players develop then becomes the key.
  16. I know it's been said before but we are really young. 75% of team minutes played against Creighton came from freshmen and sophomores. Many of these players hadn't played together much as well. Practice is one thing but games under fire is a whole lot different. Janay our 3 year starter hasn't played in a game yet. It will be interesting to see what she can bring to the table when she does.
  17. It will be interesting this year if we can win away from home. Last year we never did.
  18. I don't feel down about the game at all. These type of games will pay dividends down the road. We still held them to 64 points even after they hit at least 2 3's right after getting offensive rebounds. As the game unfolded it seems to me that they had a better game plan then we did. And the Maddie situation happening right before tipoff caused us to have to modify our subbing with out any preparation time. Like Jas having to play some power forward. We missed too many free throws and it's rare that Agnew goes 6 out of 9 from three very often. We didn't quit but there will be nights when matchups are good for us and some when they aren't. Haber from Creighton had a great night passing the ball with 9 assists many of them resulted in 3's. I didn't see anything that couldn't be corrected in practice.
  19. Having the freak injury happen to Maddie during warmups put us in a bind in defending Creighton's smaller but agile forwards. They pass and shot the three well and Kate, Rachel and Darrien just weren't fast enough to get out front on Agnew who hit 6 of nine three's. On the positive side it was great to see Nicea out there doing her thing. Welcome back!
  20. One of the many things I like about coach Williams is that she knows exactly what she wants in recruiting. They need to fit her criteria. She talked Jas into staying last year and look how she has developed. One thing now that would help is more fans showing up for games and over time I think they will.
  21. What is clearer now then coach Williams first year here is what type of team and recruits she wants. We have shown improvement in many areas but will not know for awhile how far up the ladder of success we can climb until we get our injured players back and fully incorporated into the lineup. That includes how well Rachel's knee's hold up. We are in the stage of getting more experience for everyone and hopefully will not have any new injuries. Something that I have noticed so far this year is that many of the players are taking the opportunities that are there and not trying to force things. Most teams improve throughout the season but since we are so young our upside going forward may be higher then a veteran team on how much we can improve.
  22. We still have a long ways to go but I love how our players really hustle and care about each other. You can see it in their unselfish play. Our team is very young and will continue to learn more about each other and about the higher level of competition facing us. The next two games should give us a good indicator on our progress.
  23. You are right I don't have the privilege of knowing any of the parents and don't live close to Lincoln so only get my info from watching the games reading the papers and participating on this website. When I talked about bad chemistry the past 2 years I'm sure that not everyone agrees with that but I also said "I think" which is my opinion based only on my sources of info stated above.
  24. I think KearneyMan is actually a plant from Iowa and is a Hawkeye fan. As for decommits Doyle and Cayton I think it had more to due with the lousy team chemistry we had the past two years then any coaching change. What's done is done. I like who we have now and where we are going. GBR
  25. She seemed to get up and down the floor well. I didn't notice any limping. Hopefully she is approaching 100%. But we do play 4 games in a week and tonight's competition may be the weakest of the four. If Darrien can knock down her bunnies better she may get more playing time. I'm sure that with this many games in a short time they also want to limit Rachel's time in any one game.
