  1. HeLLLLLo BayLLLLLor. Want to revisit those remarks?
  2. You haven't quite gotten your wish, but I suppose you'd take it.
  3. That's probably because Creighton keeps on losing. Those bastards.
  4. He passed. Massive heart attack. It was 15 minutes before they were able to try to resuscitate him. May he Rest in Peace.
  5. One of the news reports I read said that he was out for 15 minutes before paramedics were able to get a defibrillator to get his heart beating again. That sounds more like a heart attack than a stroke but I’m no expert.
  6. Baye visited Michigan in November after signing day, though.
  7. This is a double hit to the Texas Tech community. These were two of their beloved former coaches.
  8. I don't see @millerhusker hand out compliments like this very often, so I feel like I'm on the right track.
  9. Smooth, bouncy athlete. Not sure why he isn't ranked. I'd compare him to Bruno Fernando at the same age. Like the offer; would love a commit.
  10. Apparently, Michigan offered him in Sept.
  11. In other sad coaching news, Mike Leach is not long for this world. Massive heart attack yesterday and it sounds like they've shifted him to palliative care/hospice until he passes. This is a bummer for me. I have always enjoyed his maverick behavior. He's a classic. A national treasure.
  12. UT basketball was on an upward trajectory. Had beaten Creighton the game before we played CU. This will have reverberations and it will be interesting to see what happens. He's one of the best coaches in CBB. Will his career survive? Should it? By the way, we have 4 common opponents with Texas this year, so what happens with them will affect our strength of schedule rating stuff.
  13. Yikes. And CJ Wilcher's performance was brutal today. He's like a FG kicker with the yips. He has basically one job and he's lacking confidence in his ability to stroke it.
  14. Last three opponents had: 7'1 skilled and athletic big man (Kalkbrenner) 6'9 all-American big man (Jackson-Davis) 7'4 behemoth (Edey) Derrick Walker took it to Kalkbrenner from the get-go. Took him 10 minutes to figure out how to score against Jackson-Davis after getting his first couple of attempts swatted. Had to be patient today against Edey and pick his spots, but he eventually reached double figures with some nifty post moves to score against Edey. Someday soon (KSU) he'll encounter a team that doesn't have an All-American or a Leviathan at center and he'll have a chance to go off. Be nice if we can just get CJ and Keisei going at the same time.
  15. Would it be sacrilegious for me to say that over the last three games, against three top 10 opponents, this team has played as well as if not better than any Tim Miles team?
  16. 1. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion we lose to K-State. 2. I think it's reasonably possible we only lose two or three more games at home this season. 3. I think it's reasonably possible we pick up a road win or two in conference. 4. If we do that and pick up wins against KSU and Queens, we'll be sitting one game above .500 going into the Big Ten tournament. 5. This team could reach the post-season. I would not have expected that going into this year. But ... a. they play harder than any prior Hoiberg team b. they're more cohesive than any prior Hoiberg team c. they play better defense than any prior Hoiberg team d. they run the offense with more discipline than any prior Hoiberg team We had chances today to beat a top 10 team at home. We had a bunch of chances. I gotta give our kids loads of credit here. They played a hell of a game against a very tough Purdue team.
  17. I like your attitude. Will both teams leave the floor with the same record?
  18. I like this team too, because they're a bunch of gritty, blue-collar guys who just do their jobs without a lot of preening. It helps that we have 3 super seniors, including one of the better centers in program history. That might buy Fred an extra year. But that center and those 3 super seniors will be gone next year. Fred needs this team to do well enough this year that he will be able to convince some portal players that we're a legit destination where they can experience success. And get paid NIL money.
  19. The holiday lights thing in Haymarket park is something I'd definitely miss out on.
  20. Speaking of bad FT shooting, I saw fat slob Dain Dainja last night, in the midst of a 16-2 Texas run, absolutely brick a pair of FTs. The second one was a line drive airball that I don't think ever got above the rim at any point after it left his hand. Worst FT miss I think I've ever seen.
  21. That was May of 2019 before I saw him play. After I saw him play, I was like ...
  22. Best in 15 years is still noteworthy. I agree Maric drew a lot of fouls. Drew a LOT of fouls. That was one of his best attributes. But I'm saying look at what he's doing this year and if he keeps it up, this will be a season for the ages. One guy like this every 15 years or so? You better freaking enjoy it.
  23. That he did. And it's not like it was just some random 6'5 dude trying to hold down the middle for Southwest Schleppenville State. That kid will be All-Big East.
  24. Another thing I want to mention about Derrick Walker, and if you haven't had the opportunity to attend a game, you wouldn't have seen this: While he was recovering from his health issue, Derrick didn't just sit there and sulk. Whenever Wilhelm or Blaise came out of the game, or during a media timeout or what have you, I watched Derrick's interaction with his proteges. He was coaching them up regularly. During timeouts, if they were pulled from the game and weren't sitting in the huddle, Derrick would take them aside and you could just see by the way they were interacting that he was explaining something to do with how to be a better player. For example, he'd demonstrate throwing his elbow a certain way and you could tell he's explaining how to establish position. And Blaise is attentively watching him and nodding and absorbing it. You don't always see that, so it's kind of noteworthy when you do.
