  1. #11. And we're not even done. NCAA Basketball: 20 early team winners of 2023 transfer portal offseason (bustingbrackets.com)
  2. Have you looked at his stats? Watched his film? I mean, the national runner-up was offering him. He started for a team that was maybe 40 spots ahead of us in Kenpom's rankings. He has tools we can use.
  3. I'm just asking a question. To your question, privatizing sports probably doesn't expand access. It just shifts to the private sector the responsibility of paying for it. And maybe that will lead to some inequitable results, but it'll just be a different form of inequity than what we have currently (which is also inequitable) and it won't be government-sponsored inequity.
  4. AAU vs. Interscholastic Sports: So, the argument I remember someone (I believe it was a girl on the high school speech team, but it was many years ago so I might be thinking of the wrong person) making back in the day about taxpayer funding of extracurricular activities goes as follows: Taxpayers collectively fund this athletics stuff. Not every student gets to participate. Some get cut; many don't even try out because they know they'll get cut. People who aren't good athletes would also benefit from participating in sports. But students who aren't good athletes are deprived of the advantages that more athletic children are allowed to have. If those athletic kids' parents want to have their OWN league (like American Legion baseball in the summer) no one is stopping them. But, unless every child gets an equal opportunity to participate, then it's not appropriate for taxpayers to underwrite the cost of this competition that inures to the benefit of only a select few individuals. Now, this wasn't MY argument. I LIKE high school sports. But it was an argument, nevertheless, that now seems way ahead of its time. All you people lamenting the regression of public education to a time where poor kids got sent to the school for coal mines, etc., explain to me how you square this concern about the privatization of high school sports with the complaint that interscholastic sports allocates scarce resources to the benefit of the very few athletically gifted in a way that is profoundly inequitable.
  5. Of all sad things that happen in spring, the saddest is Kinkaider Brewing stops selling Snow Beast. (sigh) Although they did come out with Bangarang, which appears to be a nod to our very own @Kent Pavelka. IMHO, they should have it on tap during basketball season at PBA. If anyone on this board is affiliated with Kinkaider Brewing, just know Norm is a fan.
  6. Okie doke. When did you first know he was going to be entering the transfer portal?
  7. Depends. Are you sticking around for another year?
  8. We bonded over domestic microbrews in the waiting room at the cardiologist's office. Longboard is just good beer, what can I say?
  9. Airtight. 100%
  10. What you mistakenly thought was outstanding bench demeanor was actually him getting in other guys' ears telling them it was Sam Griesel's fault they weren't getting theirs. This has been in the cards for a loooong time. The guy was a cancer in the locker room and the cancer has now been excised. Had he not been injured, he would NOT have seen the floor this year to any significant degree.
  11. College students not getting their homework done on time. Imagine that.
  12. Updated to reflect Q departure. Somewhat satisfying that the only players were guys at the bottom of my list.
  13. His grandkids must be very proud.
  14. I just wanna say this is a talented kid who is in line to get a lot of minutes here next year no matter what else happens in recruiting. If he wants to play point, we'll have lots of minutes at point. If he wants to be a combo guard, we'll have lots of minutes for that as well. If he wants to be a 3-and-D wing, we'll have lots of minutes for that, too. And I think he's talented enough to command a bunch of those minutes. I've been looking forward to seeing this kid play for a year now. November can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned.
  15. It's fluid. You need to add Allick as a possible add. We may have more spots opening, so we might be able to take more than 2. I certainly would like to see a HS kid like Dunlap be one of them. I'm not Wrightsold. I'm thinking either McCollum or Sallis, but maybe some other PG drops in our laps. Meanwhile, I would be down with adding Allick.
  16. If you're right, our freshmen class this year will include 3 guys between 6'6 and 6'7, all of whom are sharpshooters who can also drive the basketball.
  17. Saw it on Twitter somewhere. Don't ask me where. I just searched "Nebraska portal" and it came up. It was one of the sports guys. Edited: Ooops. This was supposed to be in response to @thrasher31's question about where I'd heard Allick was visiting. Clicked the wrong "reply" button.
  18. Josiah Allick is visiting next weekend. He put up 8 and 7 for a good New Mexico team while shooting mid-50s from the floor in 32 minutes of action. He's not a high volume guy but he's efficient and he rebounds well from his position. For most of his career, he's been mid-30s from beyond the arc. The kind of guy you would want to fill out a roster that needs a versatile big who can stretch the floor and already has an abundance of guards.
  19. If only BK's body wasn't falling apart.
  20. To answer the question from @busticket about Sam Hoiberg not being listed.
  21. This kid is good. I'm praying for a commit this weekend.
  22. Rivals Futurecast had him 100% to Wisconsin, so ...
