If that happens, there'll be a certain segment of the CU fanbase that will be overjoyed. They feel like Greg McD maxed out with his son and has underwhelmed ever since.

Tim Miles out as Nebraska Basketball coach
Norm Peterson replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
He's been nothing but classy about this -- acknowledging it's a big boy business and saying nothing bad publicly about Moos whatsoever. I hope Husker fans can be as classy if/when he departs. Please don't be the jerks some of you were when Doc Sadler got fired. -
Someone on campus just told me ... Good guy whatever happens. I expect he's done, but he's been a great guy and he's run a clean program and I absolutely wish him the best no matter what.

I was just taking a subtle dig at some of our blue friends to the east. @Navin R. Johnson picked up on it. It was subtle, though, so don't feel bad if you didn't catch it.

I think it's possible Hank Bounds might deserve some of the blame here. One major University personnel-change announcement might preempt another one on the same day. Bounds' announcement says he's not leaving until summer, so why announce his planned departure yesterday when everyone's attention is on the status of the basketball coach? Bounds might have his reasons, but if he could have waited, say, a week to make the same announcement, I think he probably should have been smart enough to do that. Instead, as Seth points out, Coach Miles is left twisting in the wind. Not fair of Hank to do that to Tim.

Why would the Bounds thing have any impact whatsoever on "things"? Why would it change the landscape? The guy to whom Moos reports -- the man who sits in the Harvey Perlman chair -- is Ronnie Green, the Chancellor, not Hank Bounds, the system President. The only thing Bounds' announcement affects, potentially, is the timing of making another major announcement. Seems kind of tone-deaf of Bounds, frankly, to make his announcement when he did 1) knowing he's not leaving until summer; and 2) knowing, as he must have, that an announcement regarding the job status of the head basketball coach was being eagerly anticipated. But as far as this "could have thrown a major wrench into things" it sounds more to me like you're covering yourself just in case your 1000% correct prognostication turns out to be wrong. Which tells me you weren't as confident in your information as you originally lead everyone to believe.

LOL ?

What the ...?

Nice job, Hank.

Lincoln, Nebraska is going to feel a lot more like Ames, Iowa than anywhere in Alabama. Lincoln and Ames are both farm-belt college towns with larger (but not huge), metropolitan communities (Omaha and Des Moines) nearby. For a guy who was born in Lincoln, grew up in Ames, chose to stay close to home for college and eventually returned there to coach, Lincoln would be a much closer fit than Alabama. At what point is money no longer the issue?

I get the impression he wouldn't be interested in working for Pollard again. Some speculate his sour relationship with Pollard is why he ditched ISU for the NBA.

If what I've heard is true, we're about to bring in a coach and pay him nearly $30 million over the next 7 years. With that context in mind, I just shake my head at the collective, anguished howling that went up in some corners of the Husker hoops world when Doc Sadler got a raise to $900,000/year and a 2-year extension before he was ultimately terminated, resulting in a buyout of ... significantly less than the amount of one year's pay for our next coach. It seems like it's always the same people who want the current coach to be fired. Those people who were bitching about the cost of Doc's buyout (probably the same folks who're excited as little school girls over the next hire) are going to be a little conflicted if the other rumor is true about Doc returning. Sounds like we're going to be paying him about as much to be an assistant as we paid him when he was the head guy. Doc Sadler was a frickin' bargain, you numbskulls.

True.

I don't know what might have been. I wish we'd had an opportunity to see what might have been. Maybe nothing would have been any different, but maybe it would have been. We'll never know. It didn't seem like an unreasonable thing for a coach to want to have and it cost the university nothing. At all. And the only reason I've heard for why it was denied was because the staff psychologist felt his turf threatened and objected to it.

If Hoiberg thinks it would be useful to have a Navy Seal come show his team a thing or two about leadership, will Moos allow it? And how will you feel if Moos says no?

Nebraska (19-16) vs. TCU (21-13) Game Thread
Norm Peterson replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
We're basically playing with 2 walk-ons and a couple more guys who are more or less walk-on level guys. And we're going up against a team with a roster full of D1 scholarship guys. Really, what could we expect? Would love to see JTB get into double figures. Fitting end to his run if he gets there. -

I suspect Miles is going to be very candid in the post-game. Fines? Screw the fines. -
