You're just trying to talk yourself into being OK with it in the event that's what happens.

I assumed he meant Arkansas might be a landing spot for Miles. Please tell me it's not the other direction.

Would have been better had they waited until Monday.

I have no idea how to handicap the decision of a late teens/early 20s kid in an era of all these transfers. Roby would have a ton of options. If he graduates, he'd be the most sought-after graduate transfer in the nation. Or he could go pro. Or he could stay here and play his senior season on a team that might be just a shell of what it was this past year for a coach who probably has a pretty good idea of what he'd need to do to make himself an NBA player. Nana almost certainly wouldn't have an option to stay. That's all I'll say about that. Thomas Allen's best friend on the team, Nana, was a bad influence. He's better off if Nana goes. But that's a lot of turmoil in an age where kids tend not to stick with a situation and see it through. Amir? Is there room in Hoiberg's system for a 6'5" combo guard who completely lacks a perimeter jump shot? Davis. Where's he gonna go? Wasn't a heavy recruiting battle for him and, being injured, had no chance to really show anything. It's probably here or a juco. I always liked his film. If he gets healthy, I think he could contribute. Burke. Is he on pace to graduate? If not, he probably doesn't have much choice. He could take a chance on a hardship. But if he stays, he's probably a back court star on a team that plays in the Big 10. Is there really a better option? Thor will probably never be a star player but he shows flashes when he gets a chance to get in there. His downfall is, again, he's a guard with no jumper. Not sure how that works in a Hoiberg system. Brady should redshirt. Transferring would allow him to do that. Probably wouldn't be able to redshirt if he stayed, but at this point, you'd have to think he'd anchor the front line given who we have on the roster and who we have committed. A lot can obviously change between now and when fall classes start. Hoiberg is known for mining the transfer market, so inside help is probably on the way. I think you keep a kid like Brady and work with him. His options are probably somewhat limited and he'd probably like to stay somewhat close to home anyway. So ... I think Hoiberg's system demands shooters. That means he needs to keep ahold of Jervay Green, Mika Adams-Woods and Thomas Allen. Those three, with Burke, could be a pretty formidable backcourt. But I'm expecting quite a lot of turbulence and turnover between now and when fall classes start.

What @NebrasketballJake said above. And that account's very first follower is someone who has been going around repeating the rumor. Wonder if that's a coincidence.
-
It appears this rumor originated from a twitter account with under 100 tweets and even fewer followers.

Shoot. (I was going to say something else, but I let my potty mouth get me in some trouble on here recently so I'm trying to watch it.)
-
No. I think the scuttlebutt was pretty on-target. It appears it's been Hoiberg for awhile. Based on things I've picked up here and there, I'd say Miles' comment in that podcast a few weeks ago (late Feb?) that Fred Hoiberg can probably "have my job if he wants it" was not a coincidence.

So much for the "Prohm to Alabama" speculation.

Oh, c'mon, you think you're going to come on OUR board and tell us that you grew up in Nebraska and think you're going to get away with that scant little piece of information? No matter where you grew up in Nebraska, there's probably someone on this board from there who graduated HS +/- 3-4 years from when you did who probably knew one of your siblings or one of their siblings knew you. This is like "reunion board." Just ask @jayschool and @colhusker.

I'm assuming this never caught on.

Cyclone fans are not happy about this potentially going down. Here's a comment from someone with nearly 4,600 posts (and mostly up-arrows) over on the Cyclone Fanatic board:

From what I've seen, I don't think he's a high D1 prospect.

OMG, Arop is decommitting and reopening his recruitment! This is going to start an avalanche! Hold onto your seats, the roster is going to Hell in a ... Hang on, I’m getting an update here from @khoock ...

I see what you did there.

I was going to say that, but I decided to be less wordy for once in my life. Thanks for saying it.

There are staff members who would potentially follow Miles wherever he went next. And there are staff members who would have been looking to advance their own careers. Miles was going to have to replace Lewis and Armon Gates sometime soon regardless of what happened this season. I don't see them wanting to take the next step with Miles if a head coaching position were to come their way, and I'm sure that's what both of them would be looking for. They might stay here to work with Hoiberg for a short period, I don't know. But their objective was not to be assistant coaches for much longer. I'm sure of that.

"The next coach would want to at least meet them." Because he doesn't currently have a staff to bring with him from another school.

No sweat. -
Someone on campus just told me ... Good guy whatever happens. I expect he's done, but he's been a great guy and he's run a clean program and I absolutely wish him the best no matter what.

This is apparently something we have to re-learn every six or seven years. When an event is announced by someone who is NOT an official, we call it "UNofficial." It's not "official" until someone who is an actual official confirms it. -

I think you underestimate the quality of his coaching and the esteem with which he is held in the broader basketball community.
