  1. If you're going to do that, why not just make both revenue sports (football and men's hoops) minor league farm systems for their respective sports, get rid of athletic scholarships altogether, and just have club sports and/or intramurals for everything else?
  2. I think the problem the OWH has identified is that for every walk-on Charley Easley on the basketball team, you have to find a spot in intercollegiate athletics for a woman to participate. And, evidently, adding walk-on swimmers to the women's swim team or walk-on runners to the women's cross-country team is viewed by some as trying to circumvent the rules. So you might not see 5 years of Charlie Easley. Because his presence on the hoops squad basically either takes away a walk-on spot from the football team or forces the athletic department to find another spot for someone on the female side of the ledger. And I'm saying this in as non-political, purely objective of a manner as I can muster, so don't read anything extra into it.
  3. Or, in the case of @colhusker's daughter, they measured in heels.
  4. And their 3 striped buddies.
  5. France’s U18 team or a group of Nebraska all-stars: who ya got?
  6. Said this before, but it's shaping up to be a pretty solid defensive secondary unit.
  7. He returns after his true freshman season with the 2nd fewest turnover-worthy plays of any returning QB in the B1G.
  8. He sets screens like a frickin left tackle.
  9. Reminds me of a lyric from a song I can't quite put my finger on just now.
  10. This is going to reinforce my wish that he would have joined his new program here and gotten started acclimating to the American game rather than "one last hurrah" with his French U18 buddies.
  11. Sweet. So Yvan won't have to adjust to a different climate.
  12. As long as we're talking atmosphere, can I hijack my own thread for a moment to offer the following suggestion? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CLOSE THE TUNNELS ON THE SOUTH END OF THE ARENA SO THAT IF PEOPLE WANT TO LEAVE 5 MINUTES EARLY, THEY HAVE TO GO UP TO THE CONCOURSE RATHER THAN DOWN TO THE FLOOR LEVEL. If they do that from game 1, people will figure out pretty quickly to either remain in their seats a while longer or exit the arena by climbing up the stairs instead of down. It's just such a bad look to see the traffic jam of people trying to get out of there with 2-3 minutes left in the game. Make an announcement during the games: "Except in the event of fire or other natural disaster, the tunnels on the south end of the arena floor will be closed to spectators from the last media timeout until the final horn. Please plan accordingly. Thank you." And if that doesn't work, I would suggest some peer pressure from people near those tunnel exits. Boo the people leaving early. Tell them they're bad fans and they should use a different exit if they're going to leave early.
  13. Sucks to be Northwestern these days. When they had their NCAA tourney run, I thought their coach was a rising star, on his way to a bigger, better gig in the not-too-distant future. Well, that future is now, and they suck. And from the looks of things, the chances are pretty good they'll continue to suck. Especially when they're losing their best players and best recruits.
  14. St. Louis has some good players. That's not a bad market in which to have a presence.
  15. If you want to watch Yvan play for France, the athletic department is apparently going to stream it?
  16. Carrying around his trademark list of drills.
  17. That's a lineup that will never happen.
  18. My hope is that the NCAA gives the kid 3 years of eligibility. He went through a coaching change at Pitt, considering transferring but was talked out of it, ended up lasting 4 games under the new coach, and transferred after all. Why is an injury any more of a justification for giving a kid a year of his college career back? Both involved circumstances beyond the player's control.
  19. Word yesterday is they plan to file the waiver request prior to leaving for Italy. Not sure where I read that so, sorry, but no link.
  20. New roster is up. They don't have pictures yet, but they have numbers. http://www.huskers.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&SPID=24&SPSID=23
  21. True. But, still, triple double.
