If you look at Trankology… With the Creighton game being at home and results from last night, it has our lowest win percentage chance in that KSU game and the only two games we’re below 50% win chance before Christmas are Creighton (43% win) and KSU (36% win) MSU is now a 50/50 toss up and Minny is 61% win chance. So we’ve got a chance to do some damage before Christmas.

Re-watching the 1st half this morning. A few smaller concerns and a few positives watching it back… 1. We’ve got a lot of shooters… can they be makers? A lot of guys weren’t afraid to shoot the rock. It’s not a bad thing…. yet. However, when things get tougher down the road, we can’t revert back to “shoot it now or I won’t get it back” like some past teams. 2. Another reason Sam will play a lot is he isn’t looking for “his”. He isn’t afraid to shoot or drive when it comes in the flow of the offense… but he’s not forcing things. Around the 13:30 mark of half 1, Sam got a kick back off an offensive board. Could have easily shot it. Instead continued with ball reversal around the perimeter and Boogie ended up missing an open look for 3. 3. SH’s pass to JLaw at the 11:45 mark of half 1 was beautiful. Missed layup, 4. Looking at all these missed open looks.. we could have probably scored 100 last night fairly easily if we make them plus our FTs. 5. JLaw had a tough stretch from the 14 minute mark through the 10 minute mark. 6. It’s been a while since we’ve had multiple guys dominate the post game like Mast and Allick did for about 3-4 possessions midway through the first. Regardless of opponent… we’ve strung there against everyone. 7. Gave up 13 offensive boards but a fair share were in this first half here. Gotta clean that up. 8. Scores in bunches the last 10 minutes. To finish with over 50 points was quite impressive.

As we often see with a lot of players, being close to home and near friends and family is a draw in and of itself. Whether players see that right out of HS or 2-3 years down the road when they transfer back, it happens all of the time. If Britt really wanted to go to Indiana, and had 0 intentions of going to Nebraska, she would have. You’re not going to convince me that her interest in Nebraska was 0 and the ONLY reason she committed was her parent(s). I’m not saying her parent(s) didn’t push her in this direction or want her to stay in state. Every parent in the recruiting process does. I am saying that her commitment to UNL is not SOLELY because of a parent or parents as a prior post hints at.

We just have to finish Top 4. There’s NO WAY they’d leave out a team who finishes top 4 in this conference!

Our injury report last night officially was Lloyd Gary Ulis Keita Tominaga If I would have told you 7-8 months ago we would go into game 1 with that injury report, you would have responded “here we go again… who’d we lose to?” Credit to Fred for not just recruiting depth, but having 10-12 serviceable players ready to go! It hasn’t always been easy for him here and the first 3 years I was pretty hard on him. However, he’s got a product this year that’s going to draw some eyes.

A lot of talk about SH tonight. Honestly, I see SH getting minutes this year and it isn’t a knock on anyone or a bad thing. I see Sam being the guy who plays when someone rolls an ankle, the guy who plays when someone is out sick mid-season, and the guy who will step in when someone is having an off night. We’ve got enough cupcakes this year for two Thanksgivings. Looking at T-Rank above, we’ve got a better chance at losing to Duquesne than Oregon State and neither are close to being a toss up. So expect to probably see 10+ guys through the Creighton game. Let’s get 4-5 games for all 10+ and we will have a better idea of who the big 8-9 are going to be.
