  1. Miles must go because we let a 0 star unranked recruit know that he wasn't going to get much time here as there were better prospects?Or Miles must go because we hurt a few feelings up north? Or Miles must go because he is getting better out of state talent than instate talent? Or Miles must go because he has brought the best talent that we have seen in years in? Or am I missing something? Miles must go cause were not making any progress on the court-- and his positive impact off the court has diminished. Just lost our best player a month ago cause TM is a dbag... am i missing something? So I am getting a feeling your not happy with where Nebraska basketball is or is going right now, am I correct?Haha!
  2. was sergej good enough? No. And that's why he didn't play. And that's why he transferred. I think most people looking at this objectively can see that Arop is in a better spot right now than he would be in if he was having to transfer 1-2 seasons down the road, because he can't get on the floor. In that scenario, he would have to sit out a season after transferring. Now he can find a school where he can get on the floor, without having to transfer and without wasting a season sitting out his transfer year.
  3. The issue here is that Nebraska could have had this conversation in the spring which potentially gives Arop more time to get himself recruited somewhere else at that time. I'm not sure there would be a lot less hard feelings though because regardless of when you're talking about changing the terms of a scholarship offer to the Nebraska POTY. As you can see, Miles and Nebraska lost some supporters today/yesterday. I can see your point. And yes, Nebraska has lost some supporters "today". If Nebraska lands Paul White and/or fills the 2017 recruiting class with players on the level of Watson, Morrow, Jacobson, Roby, etc... Then I think the results on the court will speak for themselves and justify Nebraska in this. There will be a few Omaha high school basketball fans that will hold on to this longer, but most will forget about it once football season starts in a week. Tim Miles job = win games. And he probably has to make a huge jump in that department either this season, or the next. Otherwise he may be gone. He has to take the best players he can.
  4. Tim Miles / Nebraska did absolutely nothing wrong in this situation. Bruce Chubick flaming Tim Miles publicly is a cheap move, because he knows Miles can't make any public response to defend himself. Also, if people are looking at how this effects Arop... Isn't it better for Nebraska to let him know now that he isn't ready to contribute right away, so if he wants to maximize his college potential, he should first attend a prep school to refine his skills? Isn't that a better situation for Arop than if Nebraska were to bring him in with the 2017 recruiting class, then have him in a position where he will never make it off of the bench and not have a chance to contribute? Players in that situation end up transferring after 1-2 seasons, which means they have to sit out a season due to transfer rules. Is it better for a player to go to prep school for 1 season to refine their game, or to sit out 1 season after their sophomore year of college, because they transferred due to lack of playing time? In Chubick's phone interview, he literally just said multiple times "Arop basically is only going into his junior season, because of his injury". To me, it seems pretty reasonable that Nebraska would want him to reclassify to 2018, so he can play his "senior year" of high school at a prep school, before starting his college career at Nebraska... If people want to blame someone/something for this situation, then they should blame the nature of recruiting. The process has sped up to the point that coaches have to be in on kids years before they graduate high school, otherwise it is too late and they won't have enough time to make up ground on other schools that got in early. Trying to project players that far in advance is a tricky deal. If the recruiting process didn't have to start so soon, in order to keep up with other schools recruiting a player, then these situations would be far less likely. Also, this would be a non-issue if it didn't involve Chubick and an Omaha prospect.
  5. I think I'd take him. Scoring point guard eligible the year after Tai graduates. What exactly is indicating that this isn't a done deal? The dude is gonig to Gonzaga. The problem with AWIII taking his sweet time is that our fairly small chance of even getting Matthews or others to visit is that a lot of those ships have sailed. You mentioned you were tracking the market closely. When I looked at the guys showing available on the graduate transfer market a couple days ago on ESPN it was extremely bare. Do you have anyone in mind that Miles might be considering? We really do need a depth guy at the very least. I'll post a list in a bit. Right now I'm seeing 33 guys available including non-guards, guys kicked off their teams for being awful, and/or walk-ons. I went through the list after class today to see if there were anyone that roughly fits AW3 mold. I also eliminated guys that had character issues. One guy that was intriguing to me that hadn't committed anywhere is Kellen McCormick from Western Michigan. He's 6'8", immediately eligible, and he can fill it in from 3. Shot 46% from three and hit 9 in one game. He wouldn't be an all conf player but maybe a warm body that could spread the floor?http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/61453/kellen-mccormick He has not committed anywhere, Ga Tech, USC involved. He's someone to look at but he's not a guardI think McCormick would be a great addition to the team. When AW3 left, Nebraska lost a 6'7"-6'8" player that spread the floor and made 3s. His natural position is the 3-spot (small forward). I don't think many people would say that Nebraska lost a ball handling guard when AW3 left. Nebraska lost a 6'7" shooter. Nebraska's best returning 3-point % is Tai at 35% and McVeigh at 34% Kellen McCormick is 6'8", immediately eligible, and can stroke it from 3. (46% from 3. Hit 9 in one game). I would say that he helps to fill the void that AW3 will leave on this team. Especially considering that the alternative is carrying 2 open scholarships next season to continue on with Nebraska's continual self-imposed sanctions. He may not be as good as AW3, but he could help to lessen the blow of losing him by at least providing some of the things that AW3 gave Nebraska. Also, getting McCormick doesn't mean that Nebraska can't also go after a grad transfer that fits more into the traditional ball-handling/shooting guard role. There are 2 open scholarships. Polish Rifle made a great point. He told me "a guy like McCormick could be like Wragge was at Creighton and open up the floor for Gill, Tai, and Glynn." I agree with this 100% and I don't see the harm in exploring an option like this, rather than just leaving the scholarship open.
  6. Have we given up on a big man transfer, or is there still some talk out there?
  7. Washington Hosting Kentucky Hoops Transfer Marcus Lee Kentucky basketball transfer Marcus Lee remains on an unofficial visit to Washington, sources told Rivals.com on Thursday. Lee began his visit Wednesday following an official visit to California on Tuesday. Lee, who was a junior for the Wildcats during the 2015-16 season, declared for the NBA Draft but rescinded his name from consideration before the withdraw deadline. He decided to transfer from Kentucky and most reports indicated he was heading to Cal. ESPN Basketball Insider Jeff Goodman reported Thursday that Lee was told be several NBA teams he would be a guaranteed second-round selection in the 2016 Draft, making $500,000. However, Lee elected to transfer with UW and Cal as the two schools likeliest to sign him. However, with the departures of Marquse Chriss and DeJounte Murray to the draft, and Andrew Andrews to graduation, the Huskies have scholarships available. UW already used one to sign former UNLV strong forward commit Carlos Johnson. If the Huskies were to sign the Kentucky transfer, he would have to sit out one year due to NCAA transfer rules, and then be eligible for the 2017-18 season. While Lee would not have the chance to play with incoming going guard Markelle Fultz, who is expected to be a one-and-done player at UW, he would have a potentially impressive freshman group around him. Michael Porter Jr., the No.2 overall prospect in 2017, is widely expected to sign with Washington after his father, Michael Porter Sr., was hired by UW last month. Huskies' Head Coach Lorenzo Romar is the Godfather to Porter Jr. as well, with his younger brother Jontay Porter already committed to Washington. The Huskies are also in good shape with several other recruits in the 2017 class, outside of Porter Jr. Sources did not indicate if, having not committed to Cal during his visit to Berkeley, Washington have become the favorite to sign the UK transfer. Lee finished his junior season under Wildcats Head Coach John Calipari averaging 6.4 points per game and six rebounds in 21.8 minutes per game. https://washington.n.rivals.com/news/washington-hosting-kentucky-hoops-transfer-marcus-lee
  8. It appears so. They are Pirates... apparently to the east of the Carolina's. https://twitter.com/JonRothstein/status/725377968978165761 Is he committed or signed? Could Nebraska still come in and recruit him? I would think immediate playing time for 1 season in the Big Ten with teammates like Watson, Gill, White, Morrow, etc might be more attractive to a grad transfer than 1 season at East Carolina.

  10. Former UNLV F Ben Carter joining Michigan State as graduate transfer http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/15860131/ben-carter-joins-michigan-state-spartans-graduate-transfer
  11. "Cal guard Jordan Mathews will graduate and transfer for his final year of eligibility" "This would clear up the scholarship math for the Bears to get Marcus Lee, but still, this is not the player the Bears would want to lose going into next season unless they expect Domingo to make a monumental leap in offensive production. Cal simply doesn't have a lot of perimeter scoring to replace Mathews, who shot 41% from three to lead the Bears." http://www.californiagoldenblogs.com/2016/5/31/11824156/california-golden-bears-basketball-guard-jordan-mathews

  13. “We are excited to have Andrew remain with our program,” Nebraska Coach Tim Miles said. “This has been a valuable time for him, as he has tested his skills against some of the best competition and received very important insight from key NBA personnel. We look forward to continuing to help Andrew's development to improve his NBA profile even more than he already has done through this process. I believe next year could be our most complete team with a great opportunity for success in the Big Ten and NCAA tournament, I'm happy Andrew will be with us to go out and prove it.” http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=210977594
  14. I have the same feeling. I have zero inside information or any supporting information to point to, but I just have a feeling about it.
  15. He just needs to make sure Nebraska scores enough points every home game and then turn the ticket in...
  16. I hate seeing lineups without Webster starting, but I can't say I don't like this lineup. There really seams to be no wrong answer with who starts out of the 4. It'll be tough choices for Coach Miles, that's for sureI agree that Webster is talented and if my projected lineup is correct, then I think Webster could be a preseason favorite for the Big Ten 6th man award. I think he is that good. But I also think he may be better coming off of the bench. There are very talented players that for whatever reason just play a little bit better coming off of the bench. My projection of him as the 6th man isn't an indictment of his talent. It's a testament to the talent level on this roster across the board.Whether or not Webster starts, or is the 1st man off of the bench, I believe he will be a very key contributor to Nebraska's regular season and post season success next year.
  17. Maybe not game 1 of the season, but by the time the Big Ten portion of the schedule comes: 1- Watson 2- Gill 3- White 4- Morrow 5- Tshimanga
  18. Because he was being a tool about it and saying that it was an indictment of Miles.
