A small, low-efficiency combo guard that is turnover prone and struggles to get to the FT line. What's not to like? Definitely a second-rounder, two-way contract kinda guy. Baylor is at best the same. Kalkbrenner has zero chance of getting drafted.

Frankie Fidler - Transfer -> Mich State

Except for homes-schools (like Hawks' Flower Mound Rebels) there's no standardized curriculum or standardized testing. So in addition to robbing public schools of funding, there's zero promise that they are preparing the students for professional life. Change the subject from Hawks to Deion's now defunct "Prime Prep Academy" and I bet most of this board would be vehemently against it. Here's a glimpse at PPA's math proficiency versus the TX state average: https://www.publicschoolreview.com/prime-prep-academy-profile -
* Including G League teams Justin Patton would've benefited greatly from attending a different school that has a better track record for developing talent. To date, the only player Greg has ever made that sort of investment into was his own son. When Patton committed after his Junior year at Omaha North, he didn't have any other committable offers and was ecstatic to have the opportunity to play a few miles from home. When his recruitment blew-up and he became a five-star top-50 player, he kept his word and stayed committed. But Greg wouldn't commit to playing him because he had another Senior Center (Geoffrey Groselle) on the team. Instead he convinced Patton to do the unthinkable for a five-star player, take a redshirt year. Greg would even publicly shame Patton in interviews when asked about the decision, stating he needed to improve his diet, sleep, strength/conditioning, and competitiveness...all issues that would continue to plague him once he did reach the professional ranks. Once Patton did play, he was immediately dominant and lead the team to a top ten ranking. Greg played him as much as possible and quickly reversed course, now praising Patton saying, "I’ve never coached anybody who has come as far and as fast as he has done it." But the utter lack of strength-training, conditioning, and preparation during his redshirt season coupled with a high utilization rate resulted in his foot becoming injured. Patton continued to play through it as the season finished but was still bothered by it during pre-draft workouts. Greg did not care because Patton's high level of play had earned the school the commitment from another Top-75 Center (Jacob Epperson) from powerhouse La Lumiere. Less than a week after signing with the Timberwolves during his very first team workout, Patton broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot. He underwent surgery, rehab, played a few minutes in a single NBA game...and two weeks later was getting another surgery on the foot. After spending his rookie season in the G League, he'd require surgery for a broken right foot. And the rest, much like Patton's NBA career, is history.

Dalano Banton leading all players in scoring (28) and assists (9) against the best team in the league (Celtics) but Chauncey Billups still won't start him...

I feel the same way about a corporation charging me $30 to stream a single baseball game. Not even sure this is 720p quality, absolute trash product from a trash company. The Jaysker color commentary guy said Matt Rhule should look at signing Walsh to the football team after he "pitched" the ball to 1B for an out in the 2nd inning

If anyone wants to watch this for free, you can do so with a little effort. Link your checking account to a service such as Privacy.com (they have a free service tier) which will allow you to create temporary credit cards. Create a temporary card with a $1 total spending limit (maximum that can ever be charged to this card is $1). Sign-up for FloSports using the temporary card. They will attempt to charge (twice) and it will decline, they will send you an email saying there's a problem with your account you need to remedy, that they will attempt to charge again, etc. Ignore them and watch the game tonight for free. Not sure how long FloSports will keep your account open but FuboTV will let you go over a month before closing your account. You can obviously just create a new one with different login/temporary card afterwards. FloSports has the absolute worst coverage and commentary around. They've come after the rights of so many niche sports that previously had free streaming. We should do everything in our power to bilk them of their revenue so that they realize their model is not profitable and shutdown.

Lest we not forget about Gene Keady's literal killer combover. Worth every penny of the $600 per month in maintenance costs. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/his-comb-over-could-have-killed-him-102617728467.html

2026 PG Jonathan Sanderson

Jon Sanderson (Jonathan's father, former Michigan basketball strength coach) has taken a similar role at Illinois. Jonathan already holds an offer from Illinois: https://www.freep.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/wolverines/2024/03/14/michigan-basketball-former-strength-coach-jon-sanderson-illinois/72980205007/ Also some interesting tea regarding Jon's scuffle with Juwan over at The Athletic: https://theathletic.com/5310734/2024/03/01/jon-sanderson-michigan-departure/ Juwan Howard is an absolute clown, which honestly makes him a perfect fit for Michigan. Hope they retain him so the expanded B1G gets a chance to permanently wipe him off the face of the earth next year. -
Agreed, plus with it being Senior Day I'm glad they didn't distract the attention. NU Media still got the excellent video of him in the locker room post-game, poking fun at Sam's facial hair and telling us to "go kick Michigan's a$$"

Clips are my NBA team so just wanted to add that he joined the staff in this capacity about a year after Lue took over as head coach. Lue seems to be trying to give him a similar path to the one he took with Doc Rivers. But Belcher already has experience coaching at IMG Academy where he had been for several years prior to this. As mentioned in this old article, he had even helped Ja Morant train there when he was preparing for the NBA Draft. https://theathletic.com/2896522/2021/10/18/clippers-open-practice-also-a-showcase-for-tyronn-lues-new-coaching-staff/ Mexico, Missouri!

Kansas State beating Iowa State was a nice way to end the year. Should move our victory against them back to Quad 1. All the media were so quick to downplay our road win a few weeks ago, but Kansas State beat THREE teams that were ranked in the top ten on that floor (#9 Baylor, #4 Kansas, #6 Iowa State) plus #25 BYU.

2026 PG Jonathan Sanderson

His proclivity for stealing the ball is nice. As is that 1.2PPP when he's the ball-handler on screen plays. -
https://247sports.com/player/jonathan-sanderson-46141320/ 6' 2", 170 lb, 4 star PG out of Saline HS in Saline, MI Recently had a string of 30 and 40-point game to lead Saline to their first outright conference championship in 40 years. Just lost the district championship an hour or so ago. Son of Jon Sanderson, the now-former, long-time Michigan Basketball Strength & Conditioning Coach that resigned today. Have not yet offered, but might be worth a look unless dad cozies-up with Juwan's replacement. Currently holds offers from: Iowa (5/3/23), Ohio (5/3/23), Detroit (5/3/23), Illinois (6/25/23), Marshall (6/25/23), Michigan (7/30/23), Eastern Michigan (8/8/23), Duquesne (8/8/23), and Indiana (12/17/23).

Seems baffling to me that about every Big East team outside of DePaul and Georgetown has a shot at making the tournament. DePaul isn't even in the top 300 and Georgetown wouldn't be top 200 without their two wins against DePaul. Must be nice to have those four guaranteed conference wins and then be on the bubble with just a few more. -

You don't really hear any of the pundits discussing the poor road performance of several of the top Big 12 teams, but they're really not much different than we are: Kansas: 2-4 with victories over Indiana (+4) and Oklahoma State (+29); worst loss to West Virginia (-6) Baylor: 2-3 with victories over Oklahoma State (+5) and UCF (+8); no bad losses Texas Tech: 2-4 with victories over Texas (+11) and Oklahoma (+1); worst loss to TCU (-7) Oklahoma: 2-3 with victories over Cincinnati (+4) and Kansas State (+20); worst loss to UCF (-11) BYU: 2-4 with victories over UCF (+5) and West Virginia (+13); no bad losses There is a notable difference in margin of victory, though. We have had so many double-digit defeats on the road (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Maryland, Northwestern) whereas these schools have virtually eliminated those losses.

He’s been getting several starts recently, albeit with less playing time. Half the Hornets’ guard rotation is injured and the other half is hot garbage.

Michigan State vs Nebraska NET Rankings
MitchMcGaryMunchies replied to big red22's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
At least this year we have the signature wins over #1 Purdue and #6 Wisconsin. Looking back to that 2017-18 squad, it looks like our best wins were over #14 Minnesota and #23 Michigan, both in Lincoln. We did win four B1G road games that year, though If we can just win two of the remaining five road games (Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana, Ohio State, and Michigan) it would negate the main argument against inviting this team to the dance. Those last three teams shouldn't be nearly as motivated to win as we will be in late February/early March. -

Looks like we are back at our predicted ceiling When we were undefeated to start the season and after we beat Purdue, we were still estimated to get 10-11 conference wins. Our four home games should be easy wins, hope we can take care of business on the road starting tomorrow. -

"Wins Rk" looks to be the ordered ranking of these "Top30 NET" teams based on number of wins "vsTop100 NET" opponents. The secondary ranking appears to be win percentage. So we would slot in front of St. John's in this chart with our 58% win percentage and our Wins Rk would be lucky 13. -

Torvik has not changed the W/L prediction on any of our future games. He is still predicting nine wins and five losses to finish-out the season. So I'm not sure why our projected record changed to 21-10 instead of remaining at 22-9? -

And in two of those losses the opponent is only favored by 0.1 points. Beat Iowa on Friday and T-Rank likely revises prediction to 25-6
