  1. This is the second episode ever of Dick Clark’s Saturday Night Beechnut Show in February of 1958. And in the first five seconds of this clip you'll see Dick and guest Johnny Carson on the trap set. But this is not a trap game
  2. Crisp white tee = a true G
  3. https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/F2/957/410/2117/ In the early 80s, Omaha Plantation College had a guy play over 100 games. During those four years, he accumulated 96 credits (with a D grade average) in courses such as "Marksmanship" and "Theory of Basketball" many of which did not qualify for any degree program. After exhausting his athletic eligibility at this superior academic institution, he had the language skills of an average fourth-grader.
  4. I was kinda hoping for "Los Rojos Gigantes"
  5. By any chance, does Josh have as close of a relationship with his liver as Bob Huggins had? If so, could you shoot me his address so I can send him an Instacart order for a few cases of beer and a box of garbage bags?
  6. Also, most of this funding was obtained during a period where we witnessed the lowest interest rates in most of our lifetimes. Issuing new long-term debt during that timeframe seems like a rather logical move. For consideration, I live in a small municipality in Nebraska. In 2014 we approved a $50 million dollar bond for the construction of a new high school and to remodel an old high school into a new middle school. The city refinanced the bond in 2020 and was able to save $13 million. Without knowing the WACC, this is a very useless tweet.
  7. I'm also intrigued, given that the last chapter was lived inside a van parked in a Norman parking lot. May be time for Doc to drive the Sprinter off into the sunset.
  8. Read an article welcoming him to the plantation that also mentioned his wife is named Peyton... Going to need the Red Zone to make a few posters of this. Hope Yung Joe Smith has found himself a few sister wives if he hopes to procreate. I know he likes to fill up the bucket, but I just don't think this is going to work.
  9. Both teams play within Wisconsin's "Woodland West" division in which Nick's team (Pewaukee) went 11-1 to Kon's team's (Wisconsin Lutheran) 10-2. For what it's worth, it appears that Nick's team beat Kon's team fairly handily the three times they faced each other this season. In the first game at Lutheran, Nick dropped an 18-8-8 stat line. Kon scored 33 to Nick's 21 in the second game and in their state playoff game they finished with 14 and 13, respectively. Nick has better ball-handling and polish to his game, and is more athletic/better-conditioned. He usually had the assignment of guarding Kon whereas Nick was never guarded by Kon unless they ball-screened and switched. Kon is a great scorer and rebounder and is still a good defender, just seems to rely a little more on his length. Will not be fun facing him if he does become a Badger. Here's a video of the second contest between the two teams if you want to see some full-game action:
  10. Equally annoying to the Creighton alumnus is the nouveau riche Omahan whose intense fandom isn't a result of any real ties to the university, but more a desire to fit in with their neighbor Tad and not upset the weekend golf foursome. The CHI Center is really just a fun bar for their third wives to get drunk together.
  11. Someone's level of petty at ESPN.com is juuuuuuust right Aguek flexin' on 'em!
  12. Except that Nebraska has been upset as a #3 seed in the tournament before
  13. It's crazy how they weren't even rated two weeks ago. I guess that's what beating Top Ten teams back-to-back does for you. Imagine if we had disposed of #7 C-Word, #10 Indiana, and #5 Purdue in quick succession
  14. Sam looking like Iso Joe out there
  15. The G League season tips-off tonight (Friday, November 4th) and McGowens is on a two-way contract, so expect he will be going back-and-forth as needed. He saw action in 4 games already and he's allowed up to 50 as a two-way player.
  16. We need Zay to work on his outside shot so that he can retire Doug's three-and-no-D ass from the league.
  17. It will be interesting to see what happens in the second half of the season. With the rosters they've assembled, I could see both the Spurs and Hornets being in full-on tank mode by then in hopes of improving their odds in the Victor Wembanyama lottery. Maybe that means more playing time for Bryce down the stretch
  18. Can you spot Bryce's pops at the Hornets game? Fairly certain it's him? Couldn't get a clear photo but also not sure who else would be completely kitted-out in Huskers gear behind the Hornets bench? Here's another Where's Waldo for you...
  19. 6' 8" 195 lb SF haililng from Newport, ME (3,000 people). Have a feeling he won't be finishing his high school career here Duke, Iowa, and Michigan have already offered.
  20. Regarding Beilein, the UM booster's reasoning for his collegiate success are what most quote as the reason he failed so swiftly in the NBA. Immediately started nitpicking fundamentals and demanding longer practice/film time to correct it. In that case, Beilein was the (NBA) culture killer: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/john-beilein-out-as-cavaliers-head-coach-a-timeline-of-what-went-wrong-in-cleveland-for-former-michigan-coach/ Coach Hoiberg definitely seems like he will always be more of a "player's coach" than a taskmaster. And I don't think we'll ever get any Self/Izzo/McCaffery-level outbursts from him...honestly don't want any out of him given his heart health. Hopefully more continuity and stronger leadership from upperclassmen will allow the team to hold itself accountable to some degree.
  21. The New Yorker's cover art "View of the World from 9th Avenue" is as accurate today as it was in 1976: I just think we would benefit from dropping the "victim mentality" schtick, accept our reality, focus on what's working, and improve what's not. It seems like our talent evaluation and player development is on par or better than our peers. Maybe we have issues with pre-game preparation, in-game/situational coaching, training/recovery, sports psychology, etc. that need to be resolved so that we can make the next step forward.
  22. My life experiences have taught me that 90% of Americans could not locate Nebraska on a map if their lives depended on it. I work with highly educated folks on both coasts who could not possibly place a name to most Midwestern states. The site I work at has existed in Nebraska for 70 years and many of my colleagues have worked with us for over a decade, yet they have no desire to learn anything about us. You cannot be the laughingstock of college basketball when people don't even know or care who you are. At the national level, most fans have no idea about our NCAA tournament failures. Even most B1G fans that I've encountered aren't aware of it.
  23. I'm definitely not sure what is going on in your head. Iowa hasn't been a bastion of NCAA Tournament success either. Alford at best had an NIT/First Round contender, Lickliter was a dumpster fire, and McCaffery hasn't ever advanced past the Second Round. My point was that most fanbases don't consider this to be a high level of success. My apologies for quoting your comment while making a generalized statement about Nebraskans. In my defense, you had quoted my comment about the Huskers having more players in the NBA than East Omaha U and then responded to it making zero mention of Iowa
