Got to spend about an hour talking to Gallegos and pitchford after the nw game at Buffalo Wild Wings that tourney year. He was in a miserable slump. Gave him a nice pep talk and told him to keep shooting. Went out and had a huge game at Indiana the next game. A game that we desperately needed. I guess what I am trying to say is that I deserve a lot of the credit for us dancing that year:) Very nice low key guy. Odd pairing with pitchford for sure.

While he very well may not come back, his shooting is something that he could really prove is worthy of being drafted higher than he is already projected.

Watched some broadcasts on Stadium during the bubble watch two years ago. They put on decent productions. Still watching streams obviously not the same.

I think it can work in the big ten as long as you are not having to double every single possession. If you can force them to make jump hooks over you or other shots that are 50 percent type two’s and rebound well like at Iowa St. it can work. That might be a big if.

His teams most definitely lack offensive talent imo. Never seem to have near enough power or speed.

I know Washington St is not good but to have them at 284 is ludicrous.

There isn’t enough known by anyone right now to know what the best decision is for Roby yet. Not Lewis or any of us. It all comes down to what type of guarantee he can get. If he cannot at least get a really good second round gauranteed contract verbally locked up, the upside of coming back financially would outweigh not coming back.

Can he ever. That is the type of stroke that I cringe when other teams have a guy like that and we never seem to have.

I just hope he doesn't settle. If he cannot get a first round guarantee, or a really good 2nd round gaurantee(which happens) I think he should come back. Hoiberg has great connections, Hoiberg can help develop his shot, Hoiberg will know what he needs to improve. Hoiberg can make him a first rounder which is very lucrative as it comes with a 2 year guaranteed contract.

Speaking of Roby. We all realize that having him back is a big deal. What we all don't realize is that we are going to see a lot of players of this caliber in the near future. Some not as talented as him but will be much better than he has been.

There are certainly scenarios where I can see Amir being somewhat effective in Hoiberg ran offense without being able to shoot a three. Can he impact the game in enough other positive ways? I can see scenarios where that is the case. Ultimately, I lean to the side of Norm on this one. But I can certainly see more paths where we are wrong than I think Norm does at this point.

after watching TexasTech, perhaps he should shift his thinking on grad transfers a bit. It cannot hurt to meet with the quality ones and get a sense of what their agenda may or may not be.

Does anyone know if Doc's defensive philosophy has evolved with the analytics? It seemed like the one weakness of his defenses when he was here previously is that we gave up a lot of uncontested threes(partially due to size issues and the need to double constantly). Given how much Hoiberg hates long two pointers on offense, I am hoping that the defense funnels shots to those areas. It is obviously easier to prevent yourself from taking long two pointers than it is to force others to take them. I guess what I am trying to say is I hope that Doc's defense doesn't leave shooters open from 3 too much. That won't work that well in this league.
