While I think competitive balance should rule the day(especially when a flight is involved), it is very clear and consistent that they simply lumped all of the 2's in a basket and tried to minimize the total distance of travel among the 16 teams. Similar for 3 and 4. This isn't junior varsity high school sports. Pretty dumb. Regional situations could be used when two teams are very close I suppose, but to do it in a complete blanket is wrong imo.

Couldn't agree more. Times evolve. Elam ending is tremendous new school idea. I love seeing games end playing basketball as it is designed to be played. There are still thrilling shots made at the end. They just are not buzzer beaters as there is no clock that is being strung out for 15 minutes. I also like the aspect that a game is never really over. You hear the phrase "no clock in baseball." I like it here too. Too many old school types making the decisions anyway so it is a moot point.
