  1. Just want to thank everyone who could be a part of that one again. One of the best sports memories I will ever have. Will never forget that amazing day in Lincoln. Never seen an entire building refuse to lose like that environment. When Petteway hit that three to go up 9-2 or whatever the place literally exploded. What an amazing day.
  2. We are at a serious disadvantage in "talent" on campus amongst that group.
  3. I'm not as confident as some here are about the prospects of Ayegba starting next season. Miles now has the personnel to put two true bigs on the court at the same time, and I believe that will be a component of the starting line-up and the way the team will look most of the time unless he specifically wants to go small in certain situations.Pitchford isn't being displaced from the starting line-up. To me, that means that Ayegba would have to beat out Leslee Smith for that 5 spot. Leslee's a good dude who's content to come off the bench. However, while that may have been fine for last season, next season could be very different. The reason why I'm not as confident as others here that Ayegba will start is that a statistical comparison between Smith and Ayegba favors Smith in my opinion. Smith did average 3.7 MPG more than Ayegba did last season, but the disparity in productivity exceeds the disparity in MPG in some key statistical categories. Judge for yourself. Minutes per Game Smith: 16.8 Ayegba: 13.1 FG% Smith: .519 Ayegba: .564 FT% Smith: .623 Ayegba: .455 Rebounding Smith: 154 Ayegba: 88 Blocks Smith: 20 Ayegba: 23 Assists Smith: 12 Ayegba: 9 Points per Game Smith: 5.4 Ayegba: 1.9 Steals Smith: 29 Ayegba: 7 Turnovers Smith: 45 Ayegba: 17 The stats reveal that Smith was the superior scoring threat. Additionally, he recorded a huge number of steals relative to Ayegba. He's a much better free throw shooter than Ayegba, and, most importantly, he out-rebounded Ayegba by a huge margin. The two were relatively equal in FG% and assists. Ayegba had a moderate advantage in blocks and likely altered more shots than Smith did, but the margin isn't that dramatic. Ayegba's greatest statistical advantage over Smith was his far-lower propensity to turn the ball over. So, we have to assume that both players will improve from last year to this year. Ayegba's knee may not have been at full strength last year, but Leslee also struggled with knee issues that limited his effectiveness. I'm sure both players will be working on their games. When I look at the statistical comparison above, and specifically the rebounding stat, it's hard for me to favor Ayegba as a starter over an improved Leslee Smith at this early date. Just my opinion. I do expect both to play a lot. I think I can agree with a lot of this. Whoever starts, the biggest thing the addition of Ayegba brings is lineup flexibility. Ayegba/Smith, no matter how much either is able to/allowed to play, makes the lineup with Pitchford at the 4 AND a 5 on the floor at the same time possible. This is simple, and I know everyone has already brought this up, but it is absolutely HUGE. Last season Miles was extremely limited, only being able to have either Pitchford or Smith on the court, but never together due to fouls and Smith's knees. This sums it up. I don't necessarily think we will start with two bigs most of the time. I actuallly doubt it. But we now have the option to do so or shift in and out of it as much as needed. Last year we simply did not have the option to use very much.
  4. Our results were a little bit than our parts last year. Not sure we have added enough to make this big jump. I hope so, but will be interesting.
  5. Yup. Great player. No question about that. But is he the best player in the nation? Nope. Those guys rise up when the stage is biggest.
  6. Lanigan far more qualified than Miles.
  7. Yeah probably not that big of a deal. It isn't like we wouldn't have tried our asses off if we played them.
  8. Doesn't matter what you want to call this philosophy. It is designed to not give up easy 2 pointers and easy 3 pointers. Whatever defense is being played needs to do those two things. Denying the wing pass without being in control is a great way to lead to those two things not happening.
  9. Winning that Wisconsin game in that environment was so damn cool. Specifically when Petteway hit the 3 to go up 10-3 it was complete bedlam in there. A critical side moment for me was when Illinois hit a trey to go up 7 with about 10 or 12 minutes left in Lincoln and Petteway answered with an incredible season saving trey. Honorable mention. Pitchford with a cold blooded dagger in Bloomington.
  10. AH! My point exactly! It doesn't bother me what you read. It bothers me that you post the thoughts of the people that have been banned on here multiple times. It sort of defeats the purpose and it makes this place suck. Nah, you are overreacting big time. This place most certainly doesn't suck. Easily the best fan message board I have ever seen. And you are also overreacting big time on the amount of threads derailed by commenting on Creighton fans. Where are they all? Nowhere, other than threads someone started about Creighton. If they aren't to be discussed then don't allow those threads. I don't believe I have ever started one anyway.
  11. Have you guys considered reading less Creighton tweets and message boards than most Creighton fans? I don't tweet and the message board is like a bad train wreck that I cannot help watching. As for the guys I mentioned they have been banned multiple times each here. Maybe that is why I don't care for them. And finally what I read should not bother you.
  12. Cherry was out for many of them and he makes a difference.
  13. Glad he is sticking around the area. If Miles ever decides to leave he deserved an interview.
  14. When you are playing like they did down 30 you are deserving of the score getting run up. One team is supposed to play but not the other?
  15. And that viewpoint works for me as well:) Especially guys like Double Douche, Tyler A, and the rest of those dbags on the message board over there.
  16. This is a sign of progress for our program. Tough deal as I think he was involved in the X and O things more than we realize. Hopefully Miles can handle that without him. And hopefully he gets a great replacement. And hopefully Smith does a great job at South Dakota.
  17. I feel a little bit for Creighton fans. Some are friends of mine. But those that are friends of mine are also Husker basketball fans. There are many of those. They just don't post on message boards. But there are far too many awful Creighton fans for me to be on board. That being said, they were never as good as anyone thought they were earlier in the season. A veteran bunch that came out very focused in the early to middle part of the year. Buying into defense even. But leopards don't change their stripes. Not a good defensive team. They cannot dream about getting a stop in a big moment against a good team unless they just miss. And as the season went on they younger teams caught up with them as you would expect. They were a damn good mid major team playing in a little bit better mid major league this year. But the new Big East obviously should not even still be called that. And those Creightion fans that think they are better than Witchita need to have their heads examined. I don't even think they are better than we are as the season ends.
  18. There were some ridiculous calls that went our way as well. Not very many, but there were some. We lost because we needed to play pretty well to win. And we didn't. The whole thing seemed to be a bit too big for us. And we are one of the only teams in the tourney that have a lead guard that cannot really shoot or score. That is tough. It is amazing that we made the dance with a bit of a flawed team. It goes to show what an impact the Husker fans had at home.
  19. Scott Drew makes it easier to root for Creighton. As does getting caught price enforcing in an auction. I can get on board. I have some friends that are Jaysker types here in Omaha that like both programs. Bigger Creighton fans than Nebraska fans in basketball. But like both. Won't be the end of the world if they are happy. If it weren't for Grant Gibbs and the entire team flopping a lot, it would be easier. There are a lot of them that aren't like Double Douche and the lunatic fringe fans on the dumpster fire message board they have.
  20. He has some areas to improve on. No doubt about it. And for us to maximize our potential, he needs to become stronger protecting the paint. But this post is a bit out of line. If he is not on our roster there is no chance in hell we made the dance this year. He was flat out cold blooded at several key moments in must win games. I don't really give a rats ass if you like watching him play or not. We would not have even been an NIT team without him this year. So I certainly liked watching him play. Unfortunately, outside shooting big men are going to have some tough games. Not a good time for one. The game was not a situation or matchup for Walt at all.
  21. The worst thing ever is when you get caught price enforcing Creighton in an auction.
  22. Great post. Another huge shot was by Petteway at home against Illinois. It was starting to come unhinged in the 2nd half and he answered a three with about 10 to 12 minutes left to trip the lead back to 3 or so. Was another potential season saving shot.
  23. I would like to see Parker get the start. Send a message to Cherry that he is going to be there all day long. Right away. Don't let him get confidence early for no really good reason.
  24. According to Double Douche you never know what game they are going to change at any random time. He must be too stupid to understand that they are using 4 channels for a reason. Pretty simple stuff for most. Not for Tom.
