  1. My neighbor has a yard sign: "Any Functioning Adult / 2020." I'm going to assume she's referencing Husker hoops.
  2. Three words: Justin. Costello. Now. What's the worst that could happen? We lose by a lot? Been there, done that.
  3. Isn't there some sort of board policy against posting links to obscene information? ?
  4. Take that, Delaware State!!
  5. During our five-game losing streak, our shooting percentages would have placed us, among 351 Division I teams: 351st in overall FG shooting 350th in 3-point shooting 350th in FT shooting Tonight in the first half, we shot worse than that in every area. So freaking awful at basketball.
  6. Yes. Although it shouldn't be a requirement, it's time for Nebraska to seriously consider an African-American head basketball coach. (Added on edit: But not Ernie Kent.)
  7. Screw it. Let's go on a 19-game win streak. Why not?!?!?!
  8. Illini win. Rutgers still struggling.
  9. Illiois = the anti-Nebraska. Up 10 in the first half on Sparty. Long way to go, but they seem to be fired up about playing the rest of their season.
  10. Maybe coach Mike Hopkins would want to coach in a more nationally recognized conference.
  11. NCAA Tournament appearances and records of Big Ten teams: Team-Number of Appearances-Overall Record-Final Fours-NCAA Titles Illinois — 30 appearances, 40-31, 5 Final Fours, 0 Titles (Most recent appearance: 2013) Indiana — 39 appearances, 66-34, 8 Final Fours, 5 Titles (Most recent appearance: 2016) Iowa — 25 appearances, 29-27, 3 Final Fours, 0 Titles (Most recent appearance: 2016) Maryland —26 appearances, 40-25, 2 Final Fours, 1 Title (Most recent appearance: 2017) Michigan — 28 appearances, 59-27, 8 Final Fours, 1 Title (Most recent appearance: 2018) I didn't count the forfeited appearances because, well, they were still playing basketball. Michigan State — 32 appearances, 64-30, 9 Final Fours, 2 Titles (Most recent appearance: 2018) Minnesota — 13 appearances, 13-12, 1 Final Four, 0 Titles (Most recent appearance: 2017) I didn't count the forfeited appearances because, well, they were still playing basketball. Nebraska — 7 appearances, 0-7, 0 Final Fours, 0 Titles (Most recent appearance: 2014) Northwestern — 1 appearance, 1-1, 0 Final Fours, 0 Titles (Most recent appearance: 2017) Ohio State — 32 appearances, 55-30, 11 Final Fours, 1 Title (Most recent appearance: 2018) I didn't count the forfeited appearances because, well, they were still playing basketball. Penn State — 9 appearances, 9-11, 1 Final Four, 0 Titles (Most recent appearance: 2011) Purdue — 29 appearances, 37-29, 2 Final Fours, 0 Titles (Most recent appearance: 2018) Rutgers — 6 appearances, 5-7, 1 Final Four, 0 Titles (Most recent appearance: 1991) Wisconsin — 23 appearances, 38-22, 4 Final Fours, 1 Title (Most recent appearance: 2017)
  12. That's helped my standing as well.
  13. His high school team was called the Cornjerkers, so we have that going for us. Better, it's the Hoopeston Cornjerkers.
  14. Addendum: During the five-game losing streak, as I noted: we are shooting 25.7 percent from 3 (would be 350th of 351 teams if it was drawn out over an entire season) we are shooting 34.9 percent overall from the field (351st of 351 teams over an entire season) AND we are shooting 59.0 percent from the line (59-100, which would make us 350th for the season — Manhattan is the worst at 55.8, but Bethune-Cookman is currently 350th at 59.4 percent) Historically bad shooting.
  15. During this five-game losing streak, from beyond the arc and FG overall: MSU: 5-26 (19 percent); 22-67 (33 percent) RU: 9-22 (41 percent); 25-60 (42 percent) OSU: 8-22 (36 percent); 21-58 (36 percent) UW: 4-20 (20 percent); 17-60 (28 percent) UI: 3-23 (13 percent); 25-70 (36 percent) Overall: 29-113 (25.7 percent); 110-315 (34.9 percent) In the NCAA statistics, the worst-shooting team in America — for the entire season — is Delaware State at 35.1 percent. So in our last five games, we've shot worse from the field than the Mighty Hornets. The worst three-point-shooting team in America — for the entire season — is Jackson State at 25.5 percent. Next to last is East Carolina at 26.4 percent. In other words, by those measures over the past five games, we are the worst-shooting team in America. That's out of 351 Division I programs. That's what frustrates me about watching Iowa. They may have some shortcomings, but every single one of their players knows how to put the ball in the basket. And that's the point, right?
  16. With our luck, his girlfriend will graduate and go to a master's program at Syracuse.
  17. Maryland 47 Nebraska 24 Maryland 77 Nebraska 64
  18. We're still 17 days away from the potential Rock Bottom, @ 0-14 Penn State on 2/19. Lose that, and we might end up tied for last after finishing fourth last year. Or maybe it's NU (3-16, 13-17) losing to Iowa by 25 at home in front of more Hawkeye than Husker fans. I'm done predicting what could be more horrible than anything I've seen in the last 50 years of following this team. No matter what I think, it just gets worse.
  19. Next 60 days for me? Hate-watching Kansas, Colorado, Iowa, Duke and Syracuse. GO OTHER TEAM!!!! Schadenfreude City, baby!
  20. We do better when we're predicted to finish 14th. Here's to 12th place next year!
  21. I'm hoping we can replace any of the departures with guys who can, you know, like, make baskets. That would be a nice change.
  22. I'm like the Lindsey Buckingham character (played by Bill Hader) in the SNL skit "What's up with that?" At first, he's excited to be on the show, but then he realizes that, once again, he's not going to be asked a question, so he acts pissed off for about 10 seconds. Then DeAndre Cole (Keenan Thompson) cheers him up by saying he'll get a question on the next show. But he never does.
