Win 12 in a row and we are national champions!
jayschool replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I live in Iowa City. And I'm not that lonely. Most of the time. -
I sit corrected. I, too, hope Thor comes back to play a bench role for us. Thanks!

IF!?!?!?!?!? -
Seriously, this is a mid-level Summit League team even with Burke and Mack. Why keep anyone who's not a freshman? The rest have shown us what they are. Mack has the talent, but maybe not the intangibles. The rest ... thanks for playing. It was what it was.

I'd love to see Burke and Miles reconnect. I'd root for that team to do well.

How many did Brad Davison score that day?

So I SHOULD watch? -
To the ultimate end of figuring out if we can get to eight conference wins or more (a tremendous turnaround IMO), what is the rest of the conference going to look like? Who returns/brings in the most talent? Will Ayo come back to Illinois? Will they still compete for a title without him? They bring in a top 15 recruiting class. Same with Garza and Iowa? If Garza and Bohannon both come back healthy, are they a top four conference team? Indiana continues to underperform, but the talent is there. Maryland will always have players, but can they effectively replace Cowan and Smith? Michigan loses Simpson and Teske, but they will be loaded with their nationally fourth-ranked recruiting class. MSU is always good. Minnesota may be starting over, but if their sophomore class stays intact, they'll be decent. Northwestern was young and awful, but they beat us twice. They're bound to be better. Ohio State loses only Andre Wesson. Penn State loses Stevens and Watkins, so they could dip a bit. Purdue loses about 14 points per game, but that's it. Rutgers continues it build with an NCAA bid in the basket this year and losing Yeboah's and Carter's 13 points per game. Wisconsin will lose Pritzel, but that's it, from a conference title team, and they have a top 20 recruiting class. That's a steep hill to climb, so really just turning around about four to six games from this year (getting us to 6-14, 7-13, 8-12) should be considered great progress. And if the team comes back for 2021-22 intact (sans Thor but avec players like Sallis, Sanogo, Tominaga and Whitt), we're looking at a contender. Patience should still be a thing next year. Being uncompetitive should not.

They are now what we thought they were then, but not what they will become. Buy low on the Huskers.

With the guys we have sitting out (Banton, Stevenson, Walker), the guys we have coming in (Allen, Mayen, King) and the guys we probably have coming back (Yvan, Cross, Thor), that's a 5- to 8-win conference team. If we add some more pieces that are better than what we have, we might sniff .500 and postseason play. Give that group a year to play together in a Hoiberg system, add in a few players like Tominaga, Whitt and Sanogo (minus Thor), and we have a potential NCAA team in Year 3. I can see it, and I've seen 58 years of heartache. That light ahead may not be another oncoming train. Beat the Hoosiers! -

Let's start the WTF lineup: Easley Thor Cheatham Arop Yvan Those five guys will work hard, that's for sure, and that's all we can ask for. Maybe there's a little Trueblood/Borchardt magic in this group. -
Confusing thread title. Should it be "Cam Mack suspended again" or "Cam Mack suspended again again"?
-
Guys I would keep for next year if they're willing to stay: Yvan as a backup big project Thor as a backup guard (maybe 10 minutes a game) Burke as a backup guard (maybe 10 minutes a game) Arop as a bench and practice player with the promise that he could develop further Easley as a walk-on bench and practice player Piatkowski as a walk-on bench and practice player Porter as a walk-on bench and practice player We already have six rotation guys sitting out/coming in: Banton King Allen Stevenson Walker Mayen Say goodbye to: Mack (wherever someone wants him) Green (Metro State in Denver would be a good fit) Cross (Arkansas State or another Sun Belt-type program) Find: A ball-handler A shooter A big

I said we'd lose by 15-20 but shoot 75 percent from the line. I got the second pick close. -

Great night from the line for the Huskers! 12-of-15 The perfect sequel to this nightmare season — next year we bring tonight's starters off the bench with 2 minutes left to mop up after we build a 20-point lead. -
1986 — Hoppen stays healthy and Moe was able to keep Ron Kellogg in state.

Good to see I'm not the only traumatized one here.

OK. I went to the rec center. No warmups, shooting shoulder inflamed, arthritic knee acting up, etc. I asked a custodian who was sweeping the floor to keep track so as to provide some pressure (it's not 15,000 fans, but what else can I do?). I'm embarrassed to report I made only 15-of-30, only the second time I've touched a basketball since June 2017.
