  1. Boy, we're young. I was gonna write "Man, we're young." But, you know. We're young.
  2. Bryce the only starter in the lineup all eight-plus minutes. 1-4 from the field, 0-2 from deep, a charge and two TOs.
  3. Keisei second off the bench, for Mayen.
  4. 15 points, 12 rebounds, 1.4 assists per game, 53% from the field BUT 56% from the line. I'm ecstatic.
  5. I still have nasty flashbacks about that Sam Houston game from the early Collier era.
  6. Didn't Lincoln folk rockers Zager and Evans write a song called "2025"?
  7. Big Ten SOS ranking (national), according to Bart Torvik: Michigan (1) Michigan State (2) Ohio State (3) Rutgers (6) Maryland (7) Wisconsin (10) Minnesota (11) Illinois (12) Purdue (14) Nebraska (17) Northwestern (24) Penn State (25) Iowa (26) Indiana (35) Classic Fran McCaffery non-con.
  8. Chris Basnett's observations from Pro Day: * The first 10 on the court for 5-on-5 drills looked like this: Alonzo Verge, Trey McGowens, Bryce McGowens, Lat Mayen and Derrick Walker on one squad, with Kobe Webster, Keisei Tominaga, C.J. Wilcher, Wilhelm Breidenbach and Eduardo Andre on the other. That left scholarship players Lakes, Quaran McPherson and Oleg Kojenets on a team with walk-ons Sam Hoiberg and Jackson Cronin. * DePaul transfer Keon Edwards was in his practice gear but didn't participate in the workout after playing in Friday's Opening Night event. It was the opposite for Mayen, who sat out Opening Night, but was active Tuesday morning. Walk-ons Chris McGraw and Jace Piatkowski also didn't take part in the workout.
  9. From OWH story about Pro Day: The first 10 on the court for 5-on-5 drills looked like this: Alonzo Verge, Trey McGowens, Bryce McGowens, Lat Mayen and Derrick Walker on one squad, with Kobe Webster, Keisei Tominaga, C.J. 10. They forgot to mention that CBS and Turner Sports will broadcast the NCAA Tournament again this year, so that's another six games, as well as the three we'll play in the B1G Tournament.
  11. Pedants R Us.
  12. Let's make it happen. Do you know any songwriters who can mimic that cheesy '70s style, and any poets who can write lyrics that 8-year olds can understand? I'm happy to serve as executive producer. Oh, and we'll need some funding.
  13. Common misuse of the direct-address comma isn't a problem usually. Everybody knows what "Happy Birthday Bob" and "Go Big Red" mean, even if they should be "Happy Birthday, Bob" and "Go, Big Red." The problem comes with sentences such as "Let's eat, Grandma!" and "Let's eat Grandma!" or a sign I once saw at Macy's in Boulder — "Welcome Back Students!" The hell with you, Macy's. I'm not welcoming back students. The town was better without them.
  14. YES! But can we talk about a direct-address comma, 49r?
  15. 8-3 non-con, 10-10 conference, 1-1 B1G tourney. That's 19-14 and bubbly.
  16. I always go back to my time living in Colorado, specifically about 25 years ago when Chauncey Billups scorned all the "blue bloods" to play for the Buffs. He didn't have to, but he wanted to play in front of his family and boost the home state university. Here's hoping Nebraska's next five-star won't have such a difficult decision to make.
