Silverbacked1 Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 Anya has all the classic background which will drive some crazy about not being aggress. 1) Comes from Junior College 2) hasn't played all that long 3) broken nose 4) from Europe all these things kind of add up to a finesse type player. She could be like JBD was, where she is what she is not what we think she should be. just my $.02 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 I think there are 3 players on the roster who are certifiably special: Emily Cady is just a terrific ball player and does so many of the little things that you might not notice. But, when necessary, she can fill up a stat sheet like she did in this exhibition. T is an amazing athlete, but what's more important is that she's now figured out how to harness her athleticism. Her performance in the scrimmage suggests she's ready for a bigger role and willing to assert herself and I think she has the ability to be a go-to scorer. She is pretty amazing in transition and her speed and quicks really stand out in the open floor. Plus, her shooting and her ability to penetrate give her two very solid weapons. Rachel. Superlatives just aren't enough. You can see highlight clips on the news of her making a pass that 99.99999% of all college players aren't able to make. And you think you see something very special there. But you have to see it in person to really appreciate it. Superlatives simply aren't enough. She is a very, very special young player. I have never, ever seen a college player in the women's game with her passing ability. I love not only her ability to enter the ball into the post but also her ability to create her own shot when that's called for. When all is said and done, I'm convinced her jersey will be hanging in the rafters alongside JHoop's. Now, around those three very special players, Connie just needs to fill in pieces. Sample can do a lot of things for you. She can rebound, she can score a bit. She plays good D. So, is the 5th starter a big like Kalenta or a guard like Ramacieri? For depth, I like Romeo a lot. And don't underestimate Page. And I'm hopeful we see Chandler Smith soon. What it all boils down to is that Connie has a lot of other pieces that, when combined with those above-mentioned very special 3 players, gives her a lot to work with. Very deserving of their top 20 ranking, IMO. Quote
Cazzie22 Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 Thanks for the insight Norm! The Huskers may take some time adjusting to life without Hooper which might explain the lack of playing time for some of the freshmen. Maybe Connie was just trying to get the veterans used to playing without JH. Quote

A lot of experimenting for the next 2 or 3 weeks .....to bad that Smith is out, That would certainly speed up the process of getting that belnd of players, and substitution figured out. The injury to Kalenta probably has slowed her down...but to have nose surgery and then play a few days later.....gutsy Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 i would have to believe coach yori told Kalenta she could see some time, but, not to be too overly aggressive because of the injury. think it may take a couple weeks or so to really get a feel for what you might get out of Kalenta. really hoping she will give valuable minutes, if not more.
