Huskerpapa Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 All things considered, this is a pretty good Bleacher Report article. I wasn't quite sure where to put it, but I thought I would place it here due to the discussion surrounding super recruit Malik Newman. He discusses a package deal with a big man...I would certainly snap them up. There is also a slight menton of Mr. Petteway...but nothing more than to say he wasn't at the LeBron camp... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2131699-kings-court-top-recruit-malik-newman-moves-needle-with-his-game-and-branding#articles/2131699-kings-court-top-recruit-malik-newman-moves-needle-with-his-game-and-branding Quote
Donkey Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 1. Package deals are regularly discussed but usually do not occur. When the players are siblings or cousins, it seems more commonplace though. One question though, does one really want to bring in a player who can essentially demand where other scholarship offers go? That could be a level of control that coaches will not buy into. Further, what happens if Newman is a one-and-done player? Does that mean the school can revoke the scholarship set aside for the buddy? 2. How would Newman's self promotion impact team chemistry? colhusker Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 We haven't even visited the kid yet according to the article. Quote
hhcmatt Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 I still wonder how much of a shot we had at Buddy Hield Quote
bobcat402 Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 i would appreciate and respect Perry Ellis of Kansas so much more, if would just go bald like Boozer did, and stop trying to salvage whats left of his hair hhcmatt 1 Quote

I believe all scholies are one year deals. That is why some schools are now making headlines by guarenteeing the scholie for four years. Chemistry is big, but if that kid is as good as some say he is, do you not make the effort? I doubt we will, but still... Quote
hhcmatt Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 Does that mean the school can revoke the scholarship set aside for the buddy? Newman is one of the top rated kids in 2015. His buddy is the #6 rated and is a 6'10" PF. This is a buddy package that you want. Quote

Didn't the B1G just make schollies good for four years, rather than the one-year deal? Quote
