Not sure how tongue in cheek it was.  The last place teams have 3 wins; we have 4. Stranger things have happened.  (not that i think it will)

I would have been very curious to see how he responded to it when they laughed...or what his internal dialogue was.

I think if we get to 6 wins, we should be safe from landing in last place.  Both Illinois and Penn State would have to win 3 more just to tie us.  And two of our remaining games are at home against those two teams.  I would say the wheels would about have to fall off in order for us to fall back into last place now.

 

At this point, I would be very disappointed in our finish if we don't get to 8 wins.

 

Tonight, PSU plays AT Indiana; tomorrow, Northwestern plays AT Michigan State and Minnesota plays AT Wisconsin.

 

If the home team wins all four contests (including ours), then we and Indiana will overtake both Northwestern and Minnesota and move into a tie for 6th place.  And PSU will be all alone in last place in the league.

 

Just a little prognosticating, but by this time on Friday morning, Nebraska will be tied somewhere in the top half of the Big Ten conference standings, nearly 2/3 of the way through the conference schedule.  Wouldn't THAT be something.

What do you guys have? I'm hoping at worst we go 4-1 at home and find a way to win another road game.  That would put us at 9-9 in the Big 10 which IMO would be a great second year for Coach Miles and his guys.  Before conference place and after starting out 0-4 I would have said you were dreaming if you told me we still had a shot to finish .500 in conference play.  Glad I was wrong.  My prediction has us dreaming of the NCAA after a win vs Northwestern at home...then falling short with finishing with two tough games.
