Allison will go through a myriad of emotions and then have conversations with many people (doctors, specialists, family, friends, teammates, psychologists, and so forth).  She will make decisions, question those decisions and change her decision; perhaps multiple times.

Personally, I think she will fight to come back unless the injury is so bad, it simply cannot happen.  But ultimately it will be Allison who makes the final decision.

I will NEVER leverage hindsight with a decision that was made about recovery.  Yet I do wonder why a decision to go without a sleeve or brace on one or both of her knees was made.  Perhaps neither would help.  I don't know, it simply is heart breaking.

I think Allison should just call it a career.

Maybe so. We’ve seen this before - a talented player who loves the game and has the determination to play, but fate and the Universe just don’t cooperate and their promising careers are cut short. (Taylor Kissinger comes to mind)
