I ran into HB a couple weeks ago at Gary Michaels Clothiers. Gary Novtney, the owner, donated a lot of things for my son Seth's benefit over seven years ago.  Many of you donated a lot of money, so HB agreed with me it might be time to give everyone an update on Seth.  I will make this brief as possible.

For those new to the board, Seth was diagnosed with MDS, a form of leukemia, fourteen years ago. Several of my HHC family has met him.  We attended the Barry's meeting of board members for the last game at the Bob.  He loved it! He told me later that I'm on a message board with really nice people.

I promised to make this short. May of 2021, Seth had a bone marrow transplant at Mayo in Rochester.  All went well with the procedure.  Since then, he's gone through what we laughingly call the Husker basketball procedure.  What can go wrong...  After the transplant, he's had GVHD, graft vs host disease.  It's the transplant attacking his body.  It can go after other organs.  This one picked his liver.  To combat it, doctors put him on high levels of prednisone.  The prednisone attacked his hip.  He will have hip replacement on January 23.  He's had blurred vision in his left eye.  When he went to his cancer doctor at UNMC, and by the way, his doctor and the cancer center are great, he told Seth virtually all organ transplant recipients develop cataracts.  We learn something new everyday!

Seth has his dad's eternal optimism.  We always win in the end!  God always wins!

GBR!
