Maryland's pitcher throws in the upper 90's but doesn't have much of a breaking pitch.  

 

I don't know how much the shift works in college.  A lot of teams teach their kids how to bunt.  So, the 1st batter for Maryland tries to bunt down the 3rd base line as a left handed bunter, it barely goes foul.  Count goes to 2 - 2.  Hits one right to the 2b employed in the shift for an out.  What do I know?

Nice job manufacturing a run in the 1st for the good guys.  Acker doubles.  Hallmark after an 11 pitch at bat, flies out to deep RC, Acker moves to 3rd.  Schwellenbach grounds out to 1st allowing Acker to score.

The Maryland pitcher has found his breaking pitch but is at 51 pitches with 2 outs in the 3rd.  His season high is 115.  Hopefully we can get into the bullpen.

Got the lead.  Watching these opponents boot the ball around really gives an appreciation for our defense.  That could be the difference

The 3rd time is a charm!!   Matthews with 2 fly outs to the wall in LF.  Gets one out to center on his 3rd try.  5 - 1 Good guys bottom of the 6th

Schwellenbach is down at 90.  I don't know if it's the radar gun or something is wrong.  It might be the radar gun, because Maryland looked overmatched on his fastball.
